LOL I’ll never forget that quote. Have you watched season 2 yet btw? Im a few episodes in. Disappointed so far -
Ok if you’re saying you can win with a defensive minded head coach that’s fair. I would still take my chances with an offensive head coach but you’re right there are multiple ways to win. In regards to my stats, it was to show you basically need an elite offence to win a super bowl in the past 4 years and probably 5 after this year. I am not saying defence doesn’t matter. But it really doesn’t matter as much as offence. If I looked up the defences that went to the super bowl in the past 4 years and the elite teams of this year so far, I can almost guarantee at the top of my head no one has even a top 5 defence with the exception of Denver. Maybeee Seattle? Either way, stats show the past 4-5 years that it is way more important to have an elite offence rather than an elite defence. That’s pretty inarguable in my opinion.

Greg Williams looks like that sketchy prosecutor from the Netflix show “making a murderer” -
Here are the results the past 5 years though Alpha: 2018- Chiefs averaging 36.3, NO at 34.9, Rams at 33.2, NE at 30.0. Common theme? Fair to say they are the top 4 teams in football now. 2017- Phili was the number 1 offence at 29.0 per game. Number 2 was NE at 28.9. Outcome? Shoot out in the SB and Phili wins. 2016- Atlanta was number 1 at 34.1 per game. NE was number 3 at 28.7. Outcome? Shoot out in the super bowl between those teams and NE wins. 2015- Carolina was number 1 at 31.1 per game. Denver was 18th at 22.2per game. Outcome? Denver wins a low scoring one in the SB 2014- NE was number 1 at 30.4 per game. Seattle was 9th at 25.2 per game. Outcome? NE wins a high scoring game in the SB The only anamaly there is Denver in 2015. Besides that every other team had a top 3 offence with the exception of Seattle, but even they were still top 10. So if your overall point is you don’t need to have a offensive COACH to win, that’s somewhat fair because not all those coaches are “offensive “. But I don’t think it’s fair to say you don’t need a very good offence to win in the NFL now. (I am not sure what your main argument was so don’t want to put words in your mouth) The stats above show that offensive teams dominate the NFL now, so I would much prefer taking my chances by hiring an offensive guy to build and lead through a powerful offence.

We gotta find a way to lose this one boys.

Its one of those things where I will be watching the game and going for the Bills to win as I find it impossible to go against them. But once the game is done it will probably be better if the Bills lose. Unless Allen plays and lights it up, then I am all for celebrating the W -
You know things are bad in Buffalo when a guy gets praised for having a 32 passer rating and sets the record (I believe) for having 31 completions and still throwing for under 200 yards

Peterman actually played quite well!
BillsFan130 replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I believe he set a record going back to the 70s for lowest yards for that many completions. This guy seems to break a negative record every time he gets a chance to play -
Good point. It kind of reminds me of what Mcvay did. Except the opposite side of course. He is an offensive wizard everyone knows that by now. So he takes care of the offence, he hires Wade Phillips to take care of the defensive side, and uses tons of investments to get Talib, Peters, Suh, Nickell Robey, Fowler etc.

I made this point a few days ago. Mcd is coaching in the wrong era. He would have probably been a good coach 10-15 years ago. Cause he can coach defence very well. But I think he is too old school in his way of thinking, and there is no secret he has a very hard time identifying good offensive talent

Crap we need Dallas to win cause Tennessee might be a threat to the Bills for the last wild card spot! -
Haha ya sorry I just accidentally quoted the whole thing lol. And true. But I will argue that 2015 and 2018 is a massive difference in terms of the rules for the offence. Even though it is only 3 years, things have changed so much. And thanks Alpha, you as well! Always respect your posts and comments

If you look at the top teams in the league in 2018, they all have offensive coaches. Saints- Payton Rams- McVay Eagles- Pederson Chiefs- Andy Reid Patriots- I really cant say Belichick as a defensive head coach is the difference. He’s a brilliant coach of course and brings so many intangibles, but the reason the Pats are good this year is Brady. Their defence is actually one of the worst In football. I am not saying you can’t win with a defensive head coach. But In an offensive league where you will have to score 30 plus points to win a lot of games, I would prefer the Bills taking their chances by getting an offensive guy to take the reigns.

So why is Lafleur a hot condidate to become a HC next year? Nothing impressive/creative at all IMO
