Regarding Gilmore, it's not just price but also an issue of scheme fit. The Patriots defense relies on elite corner play more than ours will. The team player thing is not something I can properly debate because I don't really know if it's true or not.

Potentially, but if they aren't tanking, who are they taking and when? If they wanna trade up for a guy (and have a willing partner), they may need that extra second round pick to do so. And Sammy may not have signed here despite our offers. Maybe not picking up the option was the wrong call, but it's moot now. What if Tyrod has a stellar year? What if he develops chemistry with Zay and Matthews (the latter could be brought back for much less)? So many potential scenarios and they are choosing the leverage of an extra high pick next year.

The Sammy trade was the opposite of shortsighted. We'll see how the Bills and Sammy's career pan out, but the move was absolutely for the long term and not the short.
