Will the Stadium Stay in Orchard Park? Hear me out
The Dean replied to Hammered a Lot's topic in Off the Wall Archives
With the exception of voice driven phone menus, I refuse to talk to machines. And I almost always have a negative experience that ends up with me screaming, AGENT AGENT AGENT. When that doesn't work I start wildly babbling in some fake foreign language---that usually gets me to a real live person. I won't have Alexa in my house---and when I set them up for clients, I ask "Are you certain you want/need this?" The new Comcast XI boxes SUCK, unless you use the voice command, which actually works pretty well. I don't care. I use the remote the old fashioned way. I virtually never use Google assistant on my android phone. It all seems very weird and unnatural to me, but mostly I don't use it because for most of these devices there is a nefarious downside. Not in 10 years and I don't think in 20, either. Perhaps the technology will be ready, but changing minds and habits is going to take a LONG time in a country where owning a car = personal freedom to so many. Same here. But I'd probably go to far fewer games downtown, if I lived in WNY. I don't so my opinion doesn't (and shouldn't) mean much to the Pegulas. With that said, I will probably have very little desire to travel to go to a game downtown. Traveling for an OP experience is worth the trip. -
Completely agree. Unless I walk over to an area where fans are getting a bit too crazy, the tailgating experience in most of the stadiums lots is perfectly fine for most families I think. You will see a little drinking and some swearing (God forbid!), but the crazy antics are pretty confined. And of course, like virtually every stadium, there will be a few morons (some drunk, some just morons all the time) loudly disturbing others. It's a very good teaching lesson for younger fans, IMO. They will encounter rude ####### throughout their lives. Teach them how not to be one, how to avoid confrontations and how to properly deal with situation if/when avoidance is impossible

Actually just the opposite. I'm almost as excited as I was for the first game of the season. I'm ALWAYS pumped for a game against the hated Fins. SQUISH THE FISH!!! Wow, again. I don't get this at all. Give me a good Bills blowout any day.

I did get those games mixed up, as I was at both. Still on that second Raider game (on TV) there were over 60,000. Pretty impressive for the weather. The fans that show up to those games are the fans that should get the most support from the club, IMO. -
Yet, still more eloquent than Lester Hayes (who was an AWESOME CB).

If it was a hoax, it was quite an elaborate one. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/ohio-state-university-trademark-the-osu-cant-trademark-the-word-the-patent-office-says/ I should have added. Probably a clever marketing stunt. If not, that's the story they should go with. -

Self driving cars are on the way. Fortunately (maybe) the security issues surrounding them are HUGE and so far not close to being resolved. If this is really the future (I'm not all that thrilled with it, but I get it) then an insane amount of money is going to be needed to insure they cannot be hacked. If that can be accomplished (probably can't be completely eliminated---but to a degree that is livable for our collective conscience) then think of the progress that will be made for cyber security in general. One can dream. -

So, am I off the hook now, too? I mean with you. Not OSU. THE Ohio State University will not stand idly by while people wantonly toss The around while they OWN it! Oh, wait. They lost that ludicrous case. Right? I keep getting a bill. -
I love the Swannie House, but it isn't something I want to do before a game. Maybe afterward though.

You think there will be real tailgating downtown? And I suppose all the stadiums in Florida should be enclosed and air conditioned. It's hot as ##$% here. It's murder sitting outside at a game. Still the fans (real fans, tough fans) tough it out. I just can't take artificial atmosphere's for watching an outdoor sporting event.

One more thought on a covered stadium. Now I admit I've only been to about 4-5 football games inside. I didn't like the experience at ANY of them. Way too artificial for my taste. -
If you saw the most recent new stadium thread (moved to OTW), it's clear many fans prefer to have the sterile experience (pregame and game). I think that's crazy.

I haven't been to the arena since the 2003-2004 renovations. But I have to say I thought it was a great place to watch a hockey game. I sat in regular seats, as well as a luxury box. Have things gotten worse? Or is it that fans today just need pampering and care about things other than watching the game (one they paid a hefty price to attend)? -

I think you are likely correct. All this talk about a new stadium and none of it coming from the Pegulas. They don't seem to be in any particular hurry. I remember some saying, right when they bought the team, there was already a new stadium plan in place. According to those people construction would already be well under way, now. -
Somebody better tell Flores!

Without radical downtown reconstruction, and a MAJOR rapid transit infrastructure improvement process, a downtown stadium in Buffalo is a recipe for disaster, IMO. -

If the Bills are vying for a playoff berth, I'll bet the stadium is mostly full. BTW, were you at the 51-3 blowout of the Raiders in horrendous weather? I was. The stadium was PACKED! -

You may very well be right. I'm just pointing out what I got from Hammer's post. And just because a plan has been dismissed as impossible/improbable in the past, doesn't mean conditions/technology can't change enough to make revisiting the idea a possibility.
