It seems that roster reflected "a combination of signed and unsigned players. Teams own the UFL rights to the players listed on their respective roster provided they are not signed to another professional team’s roster." http://www.wowt.com/sports/headlines/98639204.html The roster looks to be a bit cleansed today,

Ah. The Madonna argument. Outstanding! Actually, I'd say there is plenty wrong with that, but I get the point. I say we just blame Peal Jam for the mess and move on.

I have seen a few stinkers, but I don't remember them as much as I do the good shows. Probably the absolute worst was Van Halen in the mid 70s (I think) in Buffalo (Century Theater?). They were simply horrendous. Eddie was a joke on guitar and the prancing of David Lee made me ill. My buddy and I retired to the bar to wait out their set after two or three songs. My first Van Morrison concert (the Wavelength tour) was a fiasco, for the most part. Van came out drunk and knocked over the mike. Mumbled the words to the songs (but still sounded good, actually) and left after 40 minutes or so. On the plus side, the band was great and the backup singers filled in for Van. Van has been awesome every time since. But it took me about 15 years to see him again. My first Dead show (Rochester mid-70s) was nothing to write home about, either. I had the right head for it, I think, and was very excited to be there. They were the polar opposite of "tight". I also recall they played several songs I had previously heard The Band perform and they were far inferior to The Band's performance. Since I have seen one great Dead show and one very mediocre one. I have been quite disappointed by concerts from bands I had seen early in their careers and loved. Some examples of one-time good bands gone bad in concert include Journey, Skynyrd, Black Sabbath and Blue Oyster Cult.

Kama Sutra for the kiddies of Helena, MT
The Dean replied to stuckincincy's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I think you have a misunderstanding of The Kama Sutra. This sounds like basic anatomy. -

Apple is simply experiencing the other side of the proverbial sword. They have thrived primarily on image (some deserved, some not) and their image is now getting hit (partially unfairly, perhaps). -
Further evidence that coming and going can lead to disaster.

It's Terrance and Phillip all over again.

Ah. I underestimated both your shallowness and your pettiness Even I didn't figure you could fail to understand how some people may be a tad too complex to limit a "favorite" to one individual. Hell, even in a sport as cut and dry as Horse Racing (for example), any number of horses can finish 1st, in a dead-heat. As I already noted, my list includes individuals in the group I would call "Favorite Musician". If adding an "s" to Musician makes it more understandable for you, be my guest and add it.
-
Honestly, I still have no freaking idea what you are babbling about.

Work musician?

Hmm. Let's see here. All the musicians I listed are no longer living, and all are in the subset of "My Favorite". What didn't I understand?

Sorry for your loss. It sounds like he was a great man.

NFL.com's Lombardi ranks AFC teams.
The Dean replied to Wilson from Gamehendge's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bitter? Not at all. A little bit disappointed to be sure. I'll say what I've said since the SB run ended. I'd rather the Bills be 0-5 than 0-4, as it means they went to yet another SB. I think Lombardi is right on the money, with his evaluation of Bills' fans. -
Which quarterback are you pulling for ultimately
The Dean replied to Glass To The Arson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That would be one kind of counteroffer, and admittedly a better one. But they DID reportedly make a different kind of counteroffer ($$). Why make ANY counteroffer if you have no use for a player and are "perfectly happy" to see him leave? -
I believe Perry joined in late 1977.

How do you interpret making a counter offer to Brohm as "perfectly happy go see him go"? It's true they didn't keep him on their roster, or make a major move to keep him, but they DID make an attempt to keep him. That flies in the face of "perfectly happy to see him go". -
I should have mentioned Sea Level as anothet great concert. Chuck Leavell is a fantastic keyboard player with a ton of taste. I can't believe he lowered himself to play with the Stones. He is far superior musically to anyone else in the band. But you are right, they really aren't the Stones with Chuck in the lead.

I think Chan was clearly saying he improved from when he first started working with him. That would mean improvement/growth in front of Chan's eyes. If his place in line improved, but he did not, you probably would use the term "jump". That implies progress.
-
How can one "make a jump" if they haven't "show growth"? That's nonsense. Even if everyone else declined and his standing improved, you wouldn't use the term "made a jump". You are playing a stupid semantic game here to try to win an argument. It's clear Chan thinks he has improved, which is really the point of saying he has "shown growth" or "made a jump". You are correct if you are saying this may mean squat. But don't deny what the HC said. He said it.
-
Actually, in this context they are probably the very same thing. But I agree we shouldn't make too much of it. But the poster wasn't wrong to point it out.

The question is meaningless. They already had two good young QBs who were further progressed than Brohm. He obviously wasn't ready, at the time, to play on that team. But if they had no interest in him whatsoever, they wouldn't have made him a counter-offer. It simply doesn't make sense. Again, I'm not convinced that Brohm is the answer. But to write him off simply because he didn't fit the Packers situation at that time is crazy. I would imaging Edwards and Fitz would likely be on the outside in Green Bay, too. -
Niedermayer? Dead!
-
Well, actually because Chan Gailey said so: http://www.courier-journal.com/article/201...ls-starting-job Now admittedly it's just talk at this point. But the claim that Brohm has shown growth is based on comments by the HC.
