Do you know anyone that doesn’t like pizza?
The Dean replied to Another Fan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
There is a pizza place directly across the street from my condo. I'm thankful everyday their pizza is freaking inedible. Otherwise I'd be even a bigger, fatter slob. There is PLENTY of bad pizza around. Most pizza I've had in Canada was terrible. -
Is that just still picture? It says gif and I see a play button, but get nothing after that. Same on Twitter site. Weird

Tonight was very special for some of our players
The Dean replied to KingBoots8's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Explain your reasoning. please? As far as I can tell, those teams were very tight knit. Like a family they had their spats. But they held together. Even today many of those guys still hang out together. Now, they may not have been the most personally disciplined team we've ever seen. But Marv was all about on-the-field character and culture. Those teams had that in spades. -
It's like living in Long Island when there is a snow storm forecasted for the weekend. Grocery stores with cashier lines all the way down the grocery aisles. Carts over full of water, candles, etc. Like it's never freaking snowed there. Went to Publix today, it was a freaking zoo. You'd think there has never been a tropical storm in this area before.

I know that. Or at least I should know that. And do you know how hard it is to quickly track the history of the AFL preseason? Even I have no interest in taking that any further. Piling on Tasker (who I actually revere as a player) is far more enjoyable. This was the first time I was able to get a decent stream with the Buffalo announcing team. For weeks I've been thinking, "this guy is worse than #$%^& Tasker" when the local bozo has no idea what player made the play, what the call was actually going to be, etc. And tonight I FINALLY got a great stream with the Buffalo team. Then I realized, again for the umpteeth time (as my mom might say), he's no better than the worst of them. That is, until the end of this game. When he was excited and a fan, it was genuine and it actually added to my excitement. But that's just the whole preseason homer exemption. -

See what I get for believing Tasker? I'm now actually going to check it out. And I think you know how I feel about checking out something as trivial as this when I'm this stoned. -

Agreed. But many thought he would transfer which sets him back, age wise. Ideally he stays with the Bulls. If there were a legit minor league, he'd do well to get some experience, but there is not. PS is a great place for him, IMO. -

In the 60's (66?) they went undefeated. But it was 3-0. This was the first 4-0 preseason for them, I'm fairly certain. Nice. Fun. So what? True. But still fun, the way it went down. -

I'm with you, Cup. I could give a pass to someone who has only been exposed to the garbage some call pizza: any national chain and the bulk of what is available in many places. -

Precisely. (Or as Sergeant Nick Yemana would say, "Very Well Put.") -
That picks ya up and spins ya upside down. Grabs ya by your ankles and shakes ya till all the money falls out ya pocket.

I'm a people pleaser. ? Not buying that? Well all I can say is, once or twice it was a girlfriend's mother or aunt or something. If I didn't feel like I couldn't refuse without insulting them, that's the only way I'd even attempt it. I will say my tastes have expanded a bit (hell, I wish I loved everything like my father), but I've also become more experienced in how to let people know I would rather not have something I know (OK strongly believe)I will not like. I figure it's better than having me puke all over their table. Edit: I should clear up, I mean most of the times (after the first couple) were because I didn't feel comfortable not trying it, given the circumstances. A couple times it was GF related, but not all. Also, sometimes you know someone is a great cook, so you give them the benefit of the doubt. Liver? No more. Sweet Potatoes/Squash? No more. ? Are these world's worst emojis?

I don't make too much of it all. But I will say it was the most enjoyable (start to finish) last preseason Bills game I can remember. And while the W/L doesn't make any difference, the fact that the guys on the field at the time are still playing their asses off to get the W, does make a difference, IMO. To see the emotion on the sideline of all players not active, suggest something special MIGHT be going on. If they build on that through the season, and keep it when things go sideways, then they just may be on to something here. -
No. "But you never tried MY liver. It's delicious". It isn't. It sucks, as does all liver. I've had it a million different ways. Just can't get past the texture. In general, I avoid all organ meat.

Isn't that close to where Rootie's used to be?

Wow, that's very sad. You have my condolences.

The last time I was there was February 2018. Was still about the same. I like to stop in if I'm in the neighborhood. My friend worked there when it was the Creekside and they carved the beef behind the bar. By the time I worked there it was the Creekview. Early 80's I'm guessing.

I used to bartend at the Creekview.

While I hate to defend someone on the Pats*, it sounds like he owns the home where the coke was found. No mention if he was in the home at the time, so I'm assuming he was not there. And since he also has a Foxborough residence, I'm guessing the argument will be, "it wasn't Patrick's coke". Actually a very plausible argument. If the alarm went off, then it can be argued whoever set off the alarm may have left it there. Of course, without more information this is pure speculation. But the details so far, don't look that bad for Chung. Too bad (a little Bills fan bias there.) Beat me to it.

I never had Bar-Bill BoW, but it looked good in the video. I highly recommend the Glen Park Tavern on Main Street in Williamsville for their beef. Spectacular. Wings are pretty good, too. A couple of my favorite wing joints have closed down. Tally Ho in Niagara Falls (no relation to Rick's Tally Ho) was fabulous. But the best may have been Rootie's pub, near the UB Amherst campus. Their very available 2-4-1 coupons didn't hurt, either. Mr Dee's has always been a place that had, not the best, but damn good wings and BoW. Had both in July, and they weren't quite as good as they had been in the past. Could have just been a bad day. I'll have to try again. In the same category as Dee's (and Glen Park) was Mister Bills, which recently closed I heard. Too bad. That was a good place, too. Great pre-post airport run places to stop.

I wanted to hate this review. When the reviewers started babbling, I was sure I would hate this review. But it wasn't half bad. I can't endorse their methodology, but they did what they did. At least they told us their preferences/biases upfront. If they were going to pick only four places, I think they did a decent job of picking four of the well thought of places in the area. I also happen to like Duffs best, of all the places they went to. With that said, I never understood dunking the wing in the blue cheese. That's for the crudités , IMO. And I agree with their final realization, they should have picked HOT wings. That's when they'd find the bigger differences, I think. But then again, I like really hot wings. Duffs Suicidal! Obviously, I like my own sauce the best. But I hate deep frying in the house. The only time I'll do it is if company is coming. But I've found a way to get really good wings in Florida. I bring the sauce to a restaurant that cooks their wings properly and just ask them to use my sauce. I bring extra for the cooks, as a bribe.

Bar Rescue - Buffalo City Bar & Grill
The Dean replied to Just Jack's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I've been to this place twice to watch Bills games. It's quite a ways away so I only got there because I was meeting friends staying in Naples. The last time I was there was maybe 3-4 years ago, so I don't know what it's like now. I also did not read the article posted yet as I wanted to relate my thoughts before I was influenced. The bar was one of three-related establishments at the end of a plaza/mini-mall/whatever you call them were you live. Next to the bar was a nicer bar restaurant and next to that was a banquet hall. All of the food came from the middle, nicer place.[Aside: In Florida you can only smoke in certain bars/restaurants. I'm not completely certain about the exact details, but for the most part, you can't have smoking if your food revenues are more than a certain percentage of the total. I think it's something like 10-20%.] The Buffalo bar had 2-3 bars inside and allowed smoking. Technically the food was "delivered" from next door. The wings were pretty good and the beef I had was excellent by Florida standards, which means it was decent. At least it was rare. It was a dirty/divey/smoky joint with a ton of TVs and a lot of Bills fans. I LOVED it! But I'm sure it disgusted more than it charmed. I was planning on making a pilgrimage there this season (and hit Tampa Downs while I'm there). Now I'll see what horrible damage they've done to the place. I hope I'm wrong, but I expect to see they've ripped the very soul from the place and turned it into a generic "upscale-chain" sort of place. I shudder at the very thought of it. OK, I just read the article. Now I have to go to check it out. I'm a bit ticked I can't smoke a cigar, but I'll live. If it stayed true to it roots, but just cleaned up a bit (as the article basically suggests) it might be OK. -
First of all, let me say that, with apologies to Willie and Julio, "of all the things I've loved before..." OV splits might top the list. They've been MIA for many years now. There was one quick reprieve (around 2002 or 2003 perhaps?) when they supposedly "discovered" a stash of unused bottles and did one more release. I may be off on the date by as many as 10 years, so take that with a grain of salt. Funny thing is, I don't like OV in any other format. But the splits? Freaking heaven. "Hey Dino, want another beer?" "No way I can drink another beer." "A split?" "Sure, I'll take a split." And then proceed to drink MANY more splits. Cold til the last sip. I'm the kiss of death when it comes to having products I like be discontinued/stopped being carried locally/etc. I basically assume if I find something new I like, it won't be around a year or two down the road.
