  1. Siberian heatwave made 600 times more likely by climate change, experts find (CNN)The prolonged heatwave in Siberia from January to June, which pushed overall temperatures 5 degrees Celsius (9 degrees Fahrenheit) higher than normal, would have been "almost impossible" if not for human-caused climate change, a new study has found. Temperatures in Siberia have been above average since the beginning of the year, with the Russian town of Verkhoyansk recording a temperature of 38 degrees C (100.4 degrees Fahrenheit) in June -- a record temperature for the Arctic. The heat in the vast Russian region triggered widespread wildfires in June, associated with an estimated 56 million tons of carbon dioxide -- more than the annual emissions of some industrialized nations like Switzerland and Norway. The heat in Siberia has also accelerated the melting of permafrost. An oil tank built on the frozen soil collapsed in May, leading to one of the worst oil spills ever in the region. https://www.cnn.com/2020/07/16/world/siberia-heatwave-climate-change-intl-scli-scn/index.html

  3. UK, US and Canada allege Russian cyberattacks on CoVID-19 research centers Hospitals, research laboratories, health care providers and pharmaceutical companies have all been hit, officials say, and the US Department of Health and Human Services -- which oversees the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention -- has been struck by a surge of daily strikes, an official with direct knowledge of the attacks previously told CNN The NCSC, which is the UK's lead technical authority on cyber security and part of the UK's Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ), assessed that APT29 "almost certainly operate as part of Russian Intelligence Services". This assessment is also supported by partners at the Canadian Communication Security Establishment (CSE), the US Department for Homeland Security (DHS) Cybersecurity Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the National Security Agency (NSA), the NCSC said. https://www.cnn.com/2020/07/16/politics/russia-cyberattack-covid-vaccine-research/index.html

  7. NFL salary cap could drop by as much as $40 million in 2021 per report It should not come as a shock to anyone with what is going on, but the NFL stands to lose quite a bit of money if regular attendance is not going to happen. Yesterday, NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that the NFL salary cap could fall by $40 million in 2021 https://www.revengeofthebirds.com/2020/6/5/21280858/nfl-salary-cap-could-drop-by-as-much-as-40-million-in-2021-per-report-az-arizona-cardinals#:~:text=Yesterday%2C NFL insider Ian Rapoport, heading into the 2021 offseason. It can't drop that much unless all players take a temporary pay cut. The Bills have $19M cap space so far.

  9. Buffalo had shortage of school bus drivers before covid , now more are quitting. So a hybrid system with those who can remote learn may be the better option and more parents driving students to and from school.
  10. I don't blame 45 for not shutting down air travel to and from Europe a lot sooner , I blame the CDC , Fauci and WHO
  11. That is true but only the federal gov can stop air travel to and from China and Europe . The European strain hit NYC and NJ very hard. On 31 January, the Italian government suspended all flights to and from China and declared a state of emergency. This is when the U.S. should have stopped flights to and from Europe. (I know hindsight is 20/20)
  12. We're wasting time talking about herd immunity Antibodies to the virus would increase sharply after infection and peak after about two weeks. But then their presence would decline, generally disappearing entirely somewhere between four months and one year. In one case, a person was reinfected with the same strain of coronavirus after just four weeks from first infection. https://www.cnn.com/2020/07/13/opinions/herd-immunity-covid-19-uncomfortable-reality-haseltine/index.html Would a vaccine also lose effect after a short while if the above article were true ?

  15. officials announced that the city would be called Washington, in honor of the country’s first president, George Washington. The larger federal area would be named the District of Columbia. Columbia had become another name for the United States, one that was used by poets and other writers. The name came from Christopher Columbus, the explorer who sailed from Europe across the Atlantic Ocean to the Western Hemisphere. https://learningenglish.voanews.com/a/a-23-a-2004-10-13-6-1-83122312/123257.html I learn something new everyday , thanks B-Man

Early on did not know that the elderly and nursing homes were the most vulnerable. The rest of the country had time to learn from NYC and be better prepared. 19. 6 promises Trump has made about health care By HENRY C. JACKSON 03/13/2017 10:14 PM EDT No one will lose coverage. There will be insurance for everybody. Healthcare will be a “lot less expensive” for everyone — the government, consumers, providers. ‘INSURANCE FOR EVERYBODY’ Before he was sworn in, President Trump made a bold promise: The as-yet-unreleased Obamacare repeal and replacement plan would have “insurance for everybody.” “We’re going to have insurance for everybody,” Trump said in an interview with The Washington Post. “There was a philosophy in some circles that if you can’t pay for it, you don’t get it. That’s not going to happen with us.” https://www.politico.com/story/2017/03/trump-obamacare-promises-236021

  22. I'm saying preventive care is more cost effective then hospital care for the uninsured .
  23. A person is innocent until proven guilty. Let Barr charge him with crimes , if found guilty put him in prison. Same goes for any politician who breaks the law.
  24. Hospital care is an extreme cost , better to have coverage for uninsured for primary care drs , HMO and dentists.
