  1. I'm not sure a that many of the teams above the Bills in that draft can actually regret not picking JA. The fact is that Allen was a "project" QB of sorts. He had all the physical talent but lacked refinement. The key to the Bills' success with Allen was both his own internal drive to be better (off-season work on mechanics, etc.) and the team's willingness to help him grow and build an offense around his skills. That takes the right GM, the right coaches (McD, Daboll and others), the right scheme, the right complementary pieces and patience. I'm wholly unconvinced that almost any of the teams above the Bills in that draft had the leadership to succeed with Josh. Would Josh fail in bigger city with more unrelenting media? Would he have succeeded with the coaches on the other teams over the last several years? Would they make a change at OC to help better develop their potential Franchise QB? Besides limited physical skills, one of the reasons Mayfield has not excelled is franchise instability and poor coaching. Darnold suffered a worse fate and so would have Josh if drafted by the Jets. I'd say the same about the Broncos. Lots of things had to be architected for Josh to become the player he has, and the franchise deserves a lot of credit for that. That's ownership, coaching and management. Plus, an awesome football town that made JA feel right at home. My 2 cents.
  2. Although a placeholder design, I like the flying awning style roof that covers everyone except those in field level seats. A throwback design from the original Roman Colosseum:
  3. First and foremost, the Bills weren't playing so all I had was a "rooting interest" in several games. Simply, I wanted teams above the Bills in the conference standing to lose. Unfortunately, that meant I had to root for the Patriots and the Buccaneers! My ultimate fan nightmare. I wanted to the Pats to win because the Bills have two games coming up with them and our ability to win the division is entirely in our hands. So, even a Pats win that keeps them ahead of us in the standings doesn't really matter with those two head-to-head matchups left. We really wanted the Titans to lose because they are ahead of us and hold the tiebreaker. But crap! The Patriots won. 🤮 I wanted Tom Brady and the Bucs to win because Indy has the tiebreaker with us and we have to have a 1 game lead over them to be seeded first. Ugh, Tom Brady had a good game the Bucs won. 🤮 I wanted Cleveland to beat Baltimore as they currently lead Buffalo as well. This one didn't go as we wanted and it's the game I was least conflicted about as a Bills fan. 🤮 As a fan, you can't "win" on some Sundays. 😧
  4. Does throwing a bunch get you automatically ejected now? If so, I agree. If you miss the ball and hit the player, you’re history. He then should have been ejected. By just flagging him for 15, the refs seemed to be measuring “intent”, which I don’t agree with.
  5. “Punching out” the ball is a key strategy for today’s NFL defenses. TJ Watt took it to another level last night. How many hands do you have to throw at a ball carrier before it’s “unsportsmanlike” or just plain assault?
  6. Nothing stops this strategy but... On a lot of deep throws in college, the receivers are "college open" so these deep throws are not contested. On plays with better coverage, like the NFL, the DBs try to make a play on the ball to avoid the penalty and potentially make an INT. So, only the situations where the receiver has a couple of steps on the DB are when that strategy would be typically employed. So, the situation doesn't actually come up as often as you might think, IMHO.
  7. Not that I'm upset about it but...the Hail Mary play at the end of the Chiefs-Chargers game was some of the worst officiating I've seen when it comes to pass interference. The Chiefs' players were being completely mugged as the ball came down with no attempt to play the ball on the play.
  8. Four pages and I’m the first to admit I watch an ESPN morning show (occasionally). I watch Get Up during football season sometimes. I really like Dan Orlosky and Ryan Clark, who frequent the show. This segment on the Bears coaching was spot on and Clark was funny. I even laughed at Rex’s comments. On the Jets last week, Greenberg was funny saying, “I can’t believe I’m saying these 5 words, ‘I miss Adam Gase!’” Yes, he’s a total Jets homer but he’s very open about it.
  9. Pretty entertaining article…if you’re a Bills fan https://phinphanatic.com/2021/09/19/miami-dolphins-get-crushed-by-the-bills-and-its-not-fun/ “It started with Jesse Davis, a guy I’m told is super underrated by a select amount of doofuses, and the rest of the offensive line by Tua Tagovailoa get completely destroyed within two drives to start the game. I don’t know if Tua had a Paul Crewe-type relationship with the o-line where he made the offensive line turn on him and they just decided to let him be murdered, but Tua got crushed on the second drive and he went out with a rib injury.” I liked how he worked in The Longest Yard reference…Maybe this should be Tua’s strategy for the rest of the season:
  10. Favre was/is a complete rock head. Josh is so much more intelligent that Favre. It allows him to run a much more complex offense. Favre constantly rifled balls into tight coverage, whereas Josh consistently reads the defense and finds the open player. The only comparisons I see between these two is their competitiveness and physical ability sling the ball. Favre averaged ~27 TDs and ~18 picks a season (1.5 ratio) over 19 seasons where he was the starter. Josh averages ~22 TDs and ~10 picks a season (2.2 ratio) over just 3 seasons as a starter (and he's only just hit his stride). Granted the league was less passing oriented in Favre's day but I think Elway is a better comparison.
  11. Under the NFL’s G-4 loan program, the league will match the team’s contribution toward renovations or a new stadium. It provided ~$500M toward the Rams new SoFi stadium. So, if the Pegulas pony up $300M, the NFL will contribute $300M and the state could fund the remaining $800M of the new stadium. That’s just an example and I doubt the Bills will want to contribute much more than $200M along with a lease extension through 2026 on the existing facility.
  12. BB to unvaxxed players: “Even if you’re a borderline starter, you’re too much of an availability liability under NFL rules to take up a roster spot on this team. I can’t afford to have players miss games because of a ‘close contact’ or missed test. Cam is your poster child.”
  13. Saw that today on ESPN. Although I think this would obviously be awesome, I can't think of a rookie DE that was the NFL sack leader in the past. Maybe Lawrence Taylor? "Solomon Grundy"? Why pick a name of a character that never lived to see the Bills play on a Sunday? 😵 EdW
  14. They always show the home team broadcast for preseason games on NFLN.
  15. I’d actually put Josh up in the coaches booth with Daboll for most/all of the preseason. He needs fewer physical reps and as much strategy and defensive reads as he can get from the Master before he gets his HC gig. As the offense comes to the line Daboll could quiz Josh on what he sees and what audible he would check to throughout the games. I’ve never seen a team do this but with 4 QBs on the roster, Buffalo could afford one upstairs learning instead of on the sidelines. My 2 cents. EdW
  16. I know Rocket Ship 7 with Dave Thomas (who is still alive) was on mornings when I was a kid. I think Commander Tom got moved to mornings in the 90s but that was long after I moved away.
  17. RIP, Rick. Tom Jolls will always be Commander Tom with the afternoon cartoons for me growing up.
  18. With the Bills’ weak run blocking, his breakaway spread will get him into the arms of a tackler in the backfield that much quicker than our 2020 RBs could. 🤪
  19. He heard the Bills have generous injury settlements...
  20. Top of the list has to be the throw by Josh to Diggs that won the Super Bowl this year in the last minute of play...Oh, crap. Sorry, I know many of you haven't seen it yet so you'll just have to take my word for it. I'm just going to get back into my DeLorean....
  21. The man has learned to keep his eyes on the passer...unlike at the combine!
  22. Yeah, it’s like they think there’s a pandemic! 🤪
