  1. Agreed. These are not pets or farm animals. Social distancing to a bison is a lot different than with people or domesticated animals. Being within 10-20 feet of a bison is like walking up nose-to-nose with a person. They don't take it well. I've also seen these in "fenced in" areas. I drove through Ted Turner's ranch in Montana, which essentially like a wild prairie. I was unlucky enough to be hiking in Yellowstone when a bison decided to follow me and my girlfriend down the trail. We didn't see him but felt the ground shaking like a scene from Jurassic Park. We turned around to see him coming and stepped a number of feet off the trail and behind some trees. It was like watching a large pickup truck saunter by. A bunch of idiots in Yellowstone get gored every year for getting too "close" Billy Bison might be thankful to be put out of his misery but it might be cruel to the fans that eat him depending on who's doing the cooking. Bison can be pretty tasty if cooked correctly, which has not always been my experience in the several times I've eaten it. 😝
  2. I'm glad they are kidding as this is an incredibly stupid idea. No one should take this seriously. A buffalo (bison, actually) is a wild animal. This is no different than a circus elephant or an orca at Seaworld. A domesticated animal like a horse or cow, fine. They are bred to be around people and trainable. The stress on a bison to do this would be just cruel. I know teams have done stupid s#$t like this in the past and some college teams still likely use wild animals in cages as "mascots" (see: Mike the Tiger @ LSU). People have gotten a lot more sensible and aware of what this does to wild animals and the public outcry you'd get for doing this would be enough to stop it and make the team look like dopes. My 2 cents.
  3. Entertaining segment on which team is most likely to beat the Chiefs and our boys get some love. some good stats to back it up as well...
  4. Yes, they only have one tough game left, IMO, against the Colts. They may be the 2nd best team in the AFC now. No, that was our one loss in my scenario. I think I had Pittsburgh losing to the Colts...but I lost my scenario when I closed the browser.
  5. I have us as either the 3rd or 4th seed even if we go 5-1 down the stretch. Pittsburgh has a very easy schedule with the Bills' game being the toughest one left on their schedule. KC also likely either wins out or only loses one more game. That's 1st and 2nd seeds in my scenario in the Machine. I don't see, given the game left, that Miami or Cleveland even make the playoffs. At 3, it looks like we would get either TN or BAL depending on who wins the TN vs. IND game this weekend. If we lose to Miami in week 17, we'd drop to the 4th seed. Here's my AFC playoff bracket:
  6. I think Josh at #5 is reasonable but after that he goes off the rails. He's got 2 rookies in his top 10 (#8 - Herbert, #9 - Burrows). Come on. They've had good rookie seasons, IMO. However, putting them above the likes of Roethlisberger, Brees and Brady (to name 3) seems a bit of a stretch. Those two have a ton of potential and I have pretty high confidence that they will be good pros but the jury has to still be out on them.
  7. This is absolutely the best pickup the Bills ever made. How do you argue with a QB that wins Championships? What's even better about this one is that the Bills picked up Kemp off waivers! 2 Championships with QB picked up off waivers? Only Brady's 6th round draft status beats that for return on investment for a team.
  8. I'm completely supportive of this policy change. The NFL's revenue model doesn't penalize teams for being poorly coached or managed. Owners generally get the same amount of money whether they are the SB winner or in last place (not controlling for local attendance and sponsorship deals which vary mostly by market size). For example, Dallas is a relatively rich franchise while being very unsuccessful on the field. This is because of straight revenue sharing broadcast networks. Owners look to hire coaches and GMs that they are "comfortable" with, which feeds a insular set of people who "know" people. This results in textbook discrimination. Somebody tell me Adam Gase deserved another HC job after Miami due to his awesome HC performance. You can name a bunch of other example like this. Pegula openly said he felt most comfortable with Rex during that search. Ugh. Now, rattle off a list of black HCs who got multiple jobs after failing. It's pretty tough to find them. The same cannot be said of player performance where the best players generally get the most compensation regardless of race. For example, does anyone believe the Christian McCaffrey isn't going to be one of the highest paid RBs in the NFL regardless of race? Player performance is highly objective. Coaching and GM work isn't. The real tell is the actual distribution of HCs and GMs in the league. The "pool" of candidates starts with ex-players (college and pro) and coaches (college and pro). The coaching ranks are over-represented by white men at all levels even though black men make up the largest share of ex-players. That doesn't make sense unless there is a innate racial disparity in ability. I've never heard anyone make the claim that black man are less intelligent or capable leaders than white men. The integration of the US Military has shown that thinking to be false. What's truly weird is that it is statistically likely that available black coaching and GM candidates are actually more qualified because they are under-represented in the coaching field. So, under this rule, teams that hire black HCs and GMs will get a double bonus. They likely get a better chance of a top-notch leader but they also get modest draft capital. My 2 cents...and a few more. Bilichick will claim his sons are black as he promotes them. 😛
  9. I was thinking this myself as I read this thread. I wonder if they count face-palming a defender into the carpet as "evading" the defender. See angry run Week #2 vs. the Phish (starts at 4:10 mark or so):
  10. Flacco's bomb attempt with a wide open guy underneath was definitely a numbskull move. A few first downs and they would have forced Cam to throw a lot of balls downfield...where bad things happen to him. To misquote your moniker, Flacco was thinking, "All of these interceptions will be lost...like tears in the rain...Time to die".
  11. But man, did they try to lose it. BB was thinking, "Oh man, I can't believe Cam actually competed some of those passes we called. He's killin' me!!"
  12. This guy writes about the Pats the way some Bills' writers did circa 2015! Seriously, BB is just screwing with the league at this point. He plans to have the Pats lose 8 more games this season but "keep it close" in each one if possible. He's just angling for the next hot QB prospect because, as Bills' fans have seen, you rarely get a QB of high quality outside the top 10 in the draft (or usually the top 3). BB knows his career is coming to an end and he won't win another Super Bowl without a top flight QB. Free agent QBs have seen how he doesn't give QB's any help and will shy away from NE. It starts with losing to the Jets tonight. A guy who will engaging in repeated spying of teams' practices and other misdeeds is not above "tanking" for one of the top 2 QBs in the 2021 draft. I can hear the mumbling during the press availability, "They're a well coached team and we have to avoid the mistakes. We don't have the depth we've had in recent years...mumble...mumble...mumble..."
  13. Looking at the remaining games, I only see two games that will be real tests for us down the stretch. This week's game vs. the Cardinals could be a tough one but it's hard to tell what Cardinal's team will show up. They've lost to Detroit, Carolina and Miami this year and won a squeaker at home against Seattle. I like our odds now that it appears Josh's shoulder is finally healthy. Pittsburgh is the one expected loss I see left on our schedule. Miami could be tough by Week 17 but we're at home. We'll see how Mr. Hawaii plays in the snow in December. Bills finish 13-3! (fingers crossed)
  14. I remember November 1993 well. I was 30, living in Atlanta and busy running my business and travelling the world. That month, I met a girl in the Atlanta Airport on a Friday night return. We married 3 years later. 27 years later, we have 3 kids and the Bills haven't won a playoff game since. I don't blame her...much.
  15. As I understand the new rule, it requires two feet down in bounds (✔️) and a "football move" (❌). He clearly had two feet down with the ball but, I don't count falling on your a$$ as a "football move". Maybe that 3rd step he took as he was falling backward (and having the ball stripped away) was construed as a "football move" by the replay monkey. If the ref whistled after the ball came loose but before the recovery, then the Ravens get the ball. This is the case in all such situations as you can't just give the ball to the opposing team on an inadvertent whistle (or a blown INT call). This is why refs are generally told that on a questionable loose ball (reception? late fumble? backward pass? strip sack forward fumble) they should eat the whistle. That probably wouldn't make any difference here as the Ravens looked to be in the best position to get that ball (and maybe return it!)
  16. Oddly, the last two games reminded me of the days when our punter (Moorman) was the best player on the field for the Bills. Everyone wanted Bojo's head at the start of the season but he's had a very good year so far, including a few kicks that completely flipped the field position in games. His stat line through 6 weeks is very good. He's 3rd in average punt distance and 6th in net punting yards. He's only had 2 touchbacks in 16 kicks so far this year. Against KC, all 4 of his punts ended up inside the 20 with a 53.2 yard average and less that 1/2 yard average return. A shining spot across the last two games when the rest of the squad didn't look very good. My 2 cents.
  17. Playing so poorly in so many areas of the game definitely indicates that this team was ill-prepared. I lay this one almost entirely on the coaching staff. Well coached teams don’t make this many errors in all three phases of the game.
  18. I guess Lamar Jackson has a 0.0 completion percentage by this logic as the Ravens almost never throw without play action or keep him in the pocket. So, Lamar sucks too? I love 538’s election models but this article has a lot of issues because it expects teams to always play to a Tom Brady style offense, which won’t always maximize the strengths of their QBs.
  19. Not only can he chuck it...he can truck it! Somebody post the video of this segment when available. Pretty funny.
  20. Easily his best game as a pro. How far was this above his 2nd best game? Would that be the Miami game last year? Dallas? I think this was head and shoulders above those games, especially when you consider his command of the offense and field awareness. The arrow is pointed up, IMHO.
  21. Tesla Field - "Where the action is electric!" Local business connection and the naming rights would be couch change for Musk. Plus, Tesla himself spent a fair amount of time in WNY and already has a statue at the falls. Full disclosure, my Tesla is "Bills' Blue".
  22. My bad. It's actually my side job...and pays like crap so you get what you pay for! ?
