Toyota: Democrats 'not industry friendly'
Dante replied to Magox's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
So who pays for the GM recall costs? I guess we do. No problem though. Like LABillz says. Just print some money and give some to GM. I wish we could do that here at our little business when we fug up. That would be cool -

Dante replied to Bishop Hedd's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
He would be exactly right. Who do you think pays most of the taxes already? Who would you classify as rich? Would it be thetop ten incomes in the country? They pay over 71% of the total federal tax. Ok maybe the "rich" aren't in top ten percentile but in the top 5%. Well, they pay over 61%. Certainly the top 1% would be considered rich right? They pay 41% of the TOTAL federal income. So cry me a river about tax cuts for the rich. They should get a cut. It would be the fair thing to do. But heaven forbid we put money back in the hands of people that actually could create new jobs by maybe spending some of that tax money on creating new business ventures. -

I guess in a enviorment where everyone one else is insane, the sane guy seems like the one who is nuts. -
For me I don't know why anyone would be surprised. Looking at their lineup previous to the games and I knew they would be trouble. For the last 15 years or so the US has been putting together fast, very capable teams. Couple that with first class goal tending in Miller and the only teams I though had a edge on them were the Russians and the Canadians. And not a huge one.
-
I agree with the second part Heels. Competition makes thing much more fun. And there is no doubt the US is among the top teams. I think your wrong on the waning depth. Of the top 10 prospects in next years draft 5 are Canadian. Not overwhelming but hardly a number that would indicate the talent pool drying up.

This is pretty entertaining if you take it for what it is and what the source is. Russians have always been poor losers. Their team sucked and they are looking or any reason why except that they actually do suck. Heartless team that can't handle adversity. Canadian team must have been on drugs lol. I just pasted the first page of the article here but the second page gets even better. Guy digresses though as it gets really political as he's bragging about the legacy of the great socialist achievements left behind by the former Soviet Union. Even funnier than the wacky allegations of drug use by Canadian hockey players. Goodbye, Vancouver! Front page / Opinion / Columnists 28.02.2010 Source: Pravda.Ru "Doesn’t it feel great to slam the door behind you as you walk out, stick up the middle finger using the palm of the left hand on the upper right forearm for extra leverage and blow a giant raspberry? That is exactly how it feels as Russia leaves Vancouver after disappointing Games with a question, was the Canadian ice hockey team on drugs? The middle finger goes to the shockingly dangerous organization of the Games which cost the life of a Georgian luger right at the outset on day 1 (Nodar Kumaritashvili lost his life because the track was unfit, and indeed the corner where he crashed was elevated the following day) and the giant raspberry goes to the appalling, abominable and biased judging of events which cost Russia medal after medal. The middle finger and the giant raspberry go to the Canadian ice hockey team. Were they on drugs the day they beat Russia so overwhelmingly? These days, and since the USSR’s 8-1 thrashing of Canada in the early 80s, Canada-Russia ice hockey games are always very closely fought events and there has not been such a monumental difference between the two sides. Very strange, the more so since the same Team Canada (whatever the hell that is supposed to mean) put in an extremely lacklustre performance against lowly Slovakia and was lucky to reach Sunday’s final. And for anyone who is about to be shocked by the question, one supposes it is OK to make cheap and gratuitous references to Russians and doping, but when the ball rolls back home it hurts. Right? We will never know, will we? We will never know, because the officials at Vancouver predictably did not mete out to the Canadians the shockingly humiliating treatment given to the Russian skier Natalya Korosteleva, asked to produce a urine sample during the break between the quarter-and semi-finals of her event. Had she complied, she would not have had time to enter the semis. And such was the hounding of the Russian athletes that there are rumours many refused to eat for fear their food would be laced with steroids. The more shocking it was due to the insolence shown by Olympic officials already installed in Canada prior to the Games, insinuating that the Russian athletes are synonymous with doping. The fact of the matter is, however, that there has not been one single doping incident involving a Russian athlete in Vancouver." http://english.pravda.ru/opinion/columnist...bye_vancouver-0

Please. Most of your guys hone their skills in Canada in our Jr leagues. Even your guys wouldn't be that great without Canadian training. And for a hockey power shift? It's not like the States have sucked until this year. They won the Canada Cup back in the 90s so it's not like the US hockey program is just gaining momentum.

Funny Ive been thinking the same thing. Teams just kinda starting to gel and its over. I can only imagine how great it would be if the top teams were to play a best of 5 series to determine if you advance. I have to say of have lots of respect for the US team. While watching the game yesterday I realized there were no weak spots on either team. Its been a long time since Ive watched a game in which there were almost no mistakes. Very few give aways.

What Babcock meant was that they were going to get in front of Miller to make it difficult for him. That being difficult to see the puck. Obviously this is a NFL message board so I guess I can't expect a basic understanding of the game.
-
Predictable response and your still wrong. Stats can tell the story. Especially the save pct one. Honestly, the Sharks haven't been playing that great. If you have been watching them you would know that. But keep riding the Miller hype train completely oblivious to the rest of the league.

EVGENI NABOKOV 53 53 3164 2.26 34 9 9 2 1649 119 .928 0 0 6 RYAN MILLER 52 51 3078 2.16 30 14 7 5 1597 111 .930 0 0 2 Embarrassing? What the hell are you watching cause its not the Sharks. Nabokov has won games on his own this season for San Jose. Even the game here in San Jose the Sabres outplayed the Sharks but Nabby outplayed Miller. Numbers above are virtually identical. Sure Miller might be better, but if he is its not by much. So you using the word embarrassing is just dopey.

What has happened to make you think something like this is not only possible, but likely to happen? I can't remember any tourney that Canada was involved in that they did something like that. Believe me, Miller is not the first great goalie these players have faced. It's almost like you think that the Canadian team thinks that Miller is almost supernatural in his abilities and they have to get him out of there because he's some sort of superman. Nabokov of the Sharks has been playing, dare I say it, just as good as Miller and he got lit up. Not saying this is going to happen to Miller but he's only human. Now one guy they probably should have run but didn't was Tretriak of the old Red Army team back in 72. Him and Ken Dryden were the closest Ive seen to having some sort of supernatural abilities and Miller isn't there. And they didn't run Tretiak btw. At least not that I can remember.
-
Nothing to do with the thread but I just read that Deadspin link in your sig. That is some real funny ****. It's funny cause the guys dead on.
-
If Miller is that much of a softy that you guys have to worry about him in this tourney, you guys will be beside yourselves when the playoffs roll around. If your boy can't handle this he's toast in post season when they really play nasty.

Got my authentic Ryan Miller USA hockey jersey in the mail today
Dante replied to zow2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
blah blah blah..and Canada should have blown them out in the first period with the chances they had. Should have, could have would have doesn't matter. -
hah..my son did that with his phone. Wasn't as fortunate though as we did the same thing taking it apart. We were too late to save it.
-
I think your being a little dramatic here. I've never seen a Canadian team deliberately go after a goalie or any other player unless it was in retaliation. When a team is "going too the net" of course anything can happen. I don't see it as being a strategy to get too Miller. This team is too good otherwise to resort to that.

23,000 To Lose Their Jobs When the Shuttle Shuts Down
Dante replied to Nanker's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Hopefully, there is a profitable, practical reason for a Shuttle like vehicle to operate. I know the Moon itself is supposed to be the next big resource for mining. Is this enough motivation for the private sector to take over space exploration and exploiting it for resources? I would think a lot of these NASA experienced people would be scooped up. Just thinking out loud. On the healthcare thing Nanker, I'm with you. More people depend on the government the more powerful and pervasive it will become. It's a shame the US, once a beacon of free enterprise and freedom, is being dumbed down and castrated to be just another socialist euro clone. -
Need proof that Californians are !@#$ing nuts?
Dante replied to Beerball's topic in Off the Wall Archives
As goofy as this sounds, it's nice to see someone trying to reverse the trend of people dumbing down. -
When all else fails. You have no logical or sensible platform or idea that people can get behind, you try to rally minions by hate. Pathetic excuse for a journalist.

Good luck vs the Fins. They are tough sob's. Should be a great game.

Going into last nights game I was really worried about the defense on Canada. But Pronger elevated his game as did Boyle. I also think its very clear now that Doughty is the future of premier dmen. Keith also. Also Alaska the only really good team they played was the US. They almost lost to the Swiss so concern was justified. Never really impressed with man handling teams like Germany and Norway. Babcock had a slip yesterday referring to the 8-2 win over Germany saying "We had a good practice last night". Pretty funny but kinda true. Anyway, I'm so happy that we not only beat the Russians but owned them. Shut Ovechicken up for a while. Of course anything can happen, but it really is looking like a US/Canada match up is a distinct possibility. US is the one team I kinda wish we were not playing. #1 because I like the team. #2 because I think they are underrated. Quality line up that can stay with any team out there.
