  1. I think you just won the internet today and it is just 12:33 a.m.
  2. If he did not approve this clause, he either is not the GM or we have bigger problems than I thought.
  3. According to the money and cap that your guy approved paying Marcell, he is or is supposed to be the best player. Again, injuries matter. So does not having a franchise QB. I will remember your posts if the Bills, DW as GM, and DW's HC hire are not as successful as we would like because of extenuating circumstances like injuries etc. Be careful with your arguments. Sh*t does happen, and this board (and the Buffalo media) have shown that they are not as understanding as me or as willing to look at the forest from the trees. Karma is a B word.
  4. Crippling enough that the GM and ownership are not letting the former HC or current HC play TT this week for fear of him getting hurt and being on the hook. When Roman was fired it came as a shock to all of us. Why? Because Rex did not undermine his position with the team by leaking to the media etc. He also is not trying to claim that he did not hire Roman or approve of hiring him after stating that they completed each other's sentences.
  5. I listed more than two in my earlier posts. I clearly said that I was concentrating in that post on two: the team's best player and the QB of the defensive backs. If you read that post, it is all there. Yes, the injuries effected the defense. To me it is clear as day that injuries effected the defense and offense. If you do not think that injuries effect a team, look at the Sabres record with and without Jack Eichel. That is just one guy.
  6. I think we were one of the worst teams in the league last year in three and outs and that did not change in the first few games. That and volume were the reasons given.
  7. Of course injuries effected the offense. I listed players on the offensive and defensive side of the ball for a reason. Regarding the defensive injuries, I listed all or most of the guys earlier, but let me concentrate on two of them. 1) Our best player and best player on defense missed four games due to suspension and followed that up with multiple missed games due to injury or whatever. 2) Aaron Williams (our QB of the defensive backfield) has not played since the first Dolphin game. He missed significant time last year. His back up got hurt. His back up's back up got hurt. We had so many injuries to the position, we played a street free agent and even had to put him on season ending IR. P.S. I forgot to mention Jerry Hughes in my earlier post. He apparently has had a hamstring problem since early in the season. Not a good injury to have for someone who relies on his speed and agility to be effective.
  8. If he did not know and approve the terms of that contract then Doug has bigger problems than I suspected. Terms like these are significant and effect the team on the field and the salary cap. I do not know what is worse, the GM approving this provision or the GM not knowing about it (or pretending not to know about it).
  9. GM stands for GENERAL MANAGER. Who is in charge of the front office? Is Doug going to now throw Overdorf under the bus? Jim better get his affairs in order.
  10. The Yankees are typically a sophisticated organization. How they let A Rod and Boras hoodwink them TWICE is beyond me - especially the second contract. No one was going to pay him that amount of money. The Yankees started to play hard ball with A Rod and caved for reasons that are beyond me.
  11. I guess that is why TT is starting this week. The GM who was responsible for that crippling clause in TT's contract? The GM who repeatedly said as night follows day that he was in charge of the 53 and Rex was in charge of the 46? Hmmm. I do NOT think that St. Doug Whaley is the spawn of satan. I used to defend him until it became apparent he back stabbed and undermined the HC with ownership and the media.
  12. He was the HC of the entire team. He was the one who made the difficult and controversial decision to let Roman go and promote A. Lynn (with whom your guy is now infatuated). If you think that the injuries on defense did not effect the defense's performance over the past few years, we disagree immensely. I realize that you are a Doug Whaley guy. He now "owns" it all. He will choose the next HC. If the Bills have a lot of injuries or suffer other extenuating circumstances, I suppose I will have to decide whether to be fair or be like some of you guys have been and pretend that it does not matter. When there are leaks stating that Doug Whaley is on the hot seat or could be fired etc., I will have to decide whether it is fair or undermines his position. Doug is now finding out that karma is a real B word.
  13. He was a Rex Hater. Always has been. I can see you one Schein and raise you a Manish Mehta if you want.
  14. Apparently it was the money that . . . could have been owed to TT.
  15. I just don't understand how you can keep on ignoring all of the injuries to this team over the past two years as well as the bottom half QB play. Not a fair evaluation As much as I hate LaCanfora, it is clear (to me) now that he had a source as did others who reported it. Pretend we are not taking about Rex but Coach X. Throwing Coach X under the bus the way it happened was not good for the team and it was not good for Rex. If you think that DW was not responsible for these leaks so be it. To me, he is suspect number one. He also could have squelched these rumors on his weekly WGR appearances. He did not. I do not buy this revisionist history after digging up that article with the quotes from Whaley going on about how Rex completes him (or at least they complete their sentences). This is just another reason why I think it was DW who threw Rex under the bus. He clearly wanted to deflect from the fact that he has been around longer during the drought and he was in the FO or GM when we overpaid for Sammy, drafted EJ in the first round, allowed Marcell to have a contract that the Bills could not get out of, and allowed the crippling injury clause in TT's contract . . . and still do not have a franchise QB. Just my two cents. COYG
  16. His expertise was being the most successful Bills coach in the past 17 seasons even though: He had a bottom half QB at best The following players missed substantial time over the past two years (Sammy, Marcell, Kyle, Aaron, Aaron's back up, Aaron's back up's back up, Harvin, Shady, Wood, Woods, Cordy, Darby, Gilmore, Ragland, Lawson . . .) Leaks to the media stating that he was going to be fired or was on the hot seat. How does that play with a team? What about the leaks that were reported minutes before the Pittsburgh game started. I think that the guy did pretty damn well. Just my two cents. Clearly a typo or I am in the State of Washington or Colorado.
  17. How many times have I heard St. Doug Whaley say: I am in charge of the 53 and Rex is in charge of the 46? Rex did not insert that stupid injury clause in TT's contract. Doug can look in the mirror to find out who was responsible for that one. I think Rex is a good coach. You and I disagree. If you are going to hire a coach, you need to give the guy more than less than two years especially under the circumstances that I have mentioned. One thing you should realize about me (if you have read my posts in the past is that I have no special fondness for TBN or most of the Buffalo media. I do think that what happened here does make the organization that i love look stuuuuuuupiiiiiiid. I really fear (as I have said before) that we are not going to be able to attract and in demand desirable candidate unless we overpay and make some big time assurances that the HC is not going to be thrown under the bus after less than two years. It is more likely that we are going to hire someone who is beholden to Whaley or desperate to get a HC job. The Pegulas better be prepared to pay A LOT of $$$$ and do whatever they can to assure the next hire that he is going to get a fair amount of time and that rumors of his firing are not going to be leaked and reported minutes before a huge game etc. . . .
  18. He did? I don't think that being fired after less than two years after being the most successful Bills coach in the past 17 years notwithstanding the depth of injuries and bottom half QB etc. as getting a fair shot or everything he would have wanted or should have expected. I do not think undermining the HC with ownership and with the media as getting everything he would have wanted. These are my opinions. Based on what I have read and heard, it is my opinion that the GM threw the HC under the bus to protect himself. I guess Rex must have stopped completing his sentences. I respect both of you guys a TON. We just disagree on this. I have no problem with a professional coach being confident. Hell, they need to be that way to inspire their players. I also think that a coach deserves a fair evaluation under the circumstances and also deserves not to be undermined by the GM. We just disagree. I do not think that Rex had a fair amount of time or was fairly evaluated based on the injuries etc. I also believe that Rex was undermined for the reasons I have stated. Just my two cents.
  19. It is Day 2. I have a long way to go . . . at least until the 15th game of the 2018 season.
  20. If Doug Whaley and ownership thought that they could sacrifice Rex and all would be better for them, Sullen's article is just another reminder that it only is going to get worse. I love the Pegulas and used to be a Whaley supporter, but firing Rex was short sighted, self defeating, and makes the organization look foolish. Just my two cents.
  21. I think you are wrong on two counts. First, Rex does not throw anyone under the bus. For example, he had every opportunity to do so with Mario last year but did not. Second, whatever you may think of Rob, he was not in charge of concussion protocol or keeping track of availability of defensive backs. I suspect that the information did not flow up from either the NFL concussion protocol medical staff, the Bills medical staff, or one of the defensive backs coaches.
  22. That is my opinion. It also has been fairly well documented that he has ownership's ear now. If he wanted to keep Rex, I suspect Rex would still be the coach. It is clear to me that DW wanted Rex out and has wanted him out based on what I have read etc. Who leaked to LaCanfora so that Rex and team were undermined minutes before most important game up to that time? Who stood to benefit? Who is not being blamed for not making the playoffs these past several years? Who is not being blamed for overpaying for Sammy? Who is not being blamed for the TT injury clause? Who continues to have his job as GM? Who is now floating the idea that he was not in favor of Rex's hiring even though he was quoted as completing each other's sentences. Who is now leading the HC search?
  23. Thanks. I appreciate it. You also are a great poster. You probably are partially correct. Regarding the PC, I agree with your point about PCs in general, yet, I do not like what DW did to AL. DW got what he wanted. Own it. Be a leader. Don't make Lynn have to respond for decisions that he clearly did not make.
  24. I believe he undermined Rex with ownership for reasons posted here and in those secret posts in reddit or wherever by an undisclosed Bills employee. I also believe that he (or people close to him) were responsible for leaks - including the one that completely undermined Rex and team minutes before the Pittsburgh game.
