  1. That is true. We will get someone who is desperate for a HC job and has no other options (unless overpay immensely and/or things change with FO).
  2. I have nothing against Schwartz. I just don't think that he is the second coming of Vince Lombardi. I also had nothing against Doug Whaley (and even gave him a pass re overpaying for Sammy etc.) until he undermined the former coach. That disgusts me. Watch your back whoever is the next Bills HC.
  3. The guy is desperate for a HC job and supposedly was one of the guys that Doug Whaley has been promoting to ownership. He also has had informal meetings with ownership. Yes, I do think it is embarrassing. If the Bills job is not better than the Jags job and we supposedly have 11-5 talent (according to Doug Whaley's whispers), I am sickened to think that is where we stand. If our job is not better than the Jags, is the job better than ANY other HC job in the NFL.
  4. JW is excellent and I respect his opinion (even when I may not agree with it). He is an exception to the typical "standard" of some in the Buffalo media.
  5. If you want to come to a place where you get fired after less than two years even though you were the Bills most successful coach in 17 years notwithstanding depth of injuries and a bottom half QB and where the GM undermined the prior HC with ownership and leaks, the Bills job is a great job.
  6. Believe it or not, I actually agree with many of the things you state here.
  7. You mean the most successful Bills coach in the past 17 years and was only given LESS than two years even with all of the injuries etc. In any event, forget Rex for the moment. If you are a hot HC candidate and have options, one understandably would have huge concerns when the former coach (whoever that was) was only given LESS than two years, the GM undermined him with ownership and presumably with leaks to the media (or someone from the FO did) and even though there was a depth of injuries and a bottom half QB. Again, forget about Rex, I you are someone in demand, you would want to make sure that you had more than two years - especially with all of the injuries etc. and bottom half QB - and would want to make sure that the GM (or others in the FO) are not going to undermine you behind your back.
  8. Embarrassing if Coughlin chooses the Jags over the Bills. Of course, this is not surprising given how any candidates are likely to view the Bills job given all that has happened with DW etc. - even with a guy as Coughlin who has been desperate to become an NFL coach again.
  9. We disagree on both counts. I also take into account the depth of injuries that we have had, that one of our QBs on defense has not played since the first Dolphin game, and that we have been forced to play street free agents at safety. I also think (unlike some of the great defensive minds on this board) that tackling (or failure to tackle) has nothing to do with scheme. Again, I have nothing against Schwartz. I just do not think that he is a god like figure or someone Doug Whaley can point to while giggling like a school girl and say gee, I told you so Terry and Kim - while hoping that they do not blame him for the TT injury clause or giving up too much for Sammy or spending a first round pick on EJ. The same with Hue Jackson (whom I also like). According to Joe B, yes.
  10. Schwartz not as well received in Philly as he is with some of his fans here and also shares Doug Whaley's fondness for NOT answering questions: http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/eagles/407367356.html?mobi=true
  11. If Schwartz were such a god like figure as some make him out to be, one would think: That his Eagles defense (without all of the Bills injuries and street free agents) would be head and shoulders above Rex. That his HC record would not be so inferior to Rex's even though Schwartz had he benefit of Matthew Stafford. I am not saying I do not like Schwartz, I just don't think that anything Schwartz has done is compelling evidence in favor of any secret recommendation that St. Doug Whaley made to the Pegulas two years ago.
  12. The coward was afraid and has been afraid to answer any questions this week when the HC was fired. The Bills PR Department knows that he cannot get away without attending the end of year PC. By not making him available today, they cut down SUBSTANTIALLY the amount of time that he would have to answer questions as well as the focus of today v. next week.
  13. The buck stops with the head guy . . . but only people trying to push an anti Rex narrative that he was the one that was responsible for counting. Rex was a man and took responsibility and did not throw anyone under the bus. Coaches and players (and people around the league) saw this and the character it showed. On the other hand, people around the league already taking note about Doug Whaley.
  14. You guys are missing the freaking point: Poor St. Doug Whaley should stand up, be the leader, and answer questions (or as you say "do press conference by himself"). Instead, he has been a coward by not doing so and by throwing the former coach under the bus. Be a man Doug Whaley and as horned dog said: "do a press conference by himself. Jeez."
  15. Maybe yes and maybe no - if he has other options. Doug Whaley put him in a awful position today. He knows what Whaley did to Rex. He said he is going to keep his options open with other teams. He said that Doug would have to speak for himself. He (as anyone) would want a fair opportunity (certainly more than less than two years). If this is his only option, chances are greater than 50/50 that he would. If he has other options, I think he would have misgivings after what has happened behind the scenes AND what Doug put him through today.
  16. I suspect that it was someone on the medical staff (Bills or NFL concussion protocol staff) or someone responsible for organizing the defensive backs that was responsible.
  17. Lynn does deserve better. I like his loyalty and think the guy has a lot of character. I would not be surprised if he turns down working with Doug Whaley given his knowledge of what is happening behind the scenes. Doug Whaley wants to lead the team and got his way in throwing Rex under the bus with ownership and the leaks. If the guy wants to be a leader - then lead and do not be a coward by refusing to answer any questions this week. Rex was not responsible for putting that stupid clause in the contract - the front office was. How many times have we heard St. Doug Whaley say that he was in charge of the 53 and Rex was in charge of the 46. I guess that did not apply - especially when the GM agreed to that stupid clause in TT's contract. This business of Hue Jackson and Schwartzy is humorous. Maybe, we now know where all this business about these guys was coming from. How do we even know how good coach Hue. Nothing against him, but given the year Cleveland is having (not really Hue's fault) how can Doug Whaley make the case that hey look at me and how right I was that Hue is a better HC? As for Schwartzy, I posted last week (as I recall) that Schwartzy's defense had given up about the exact same amount of yards as the Bills have given up (even though the Eagles have not had the depth of injuries etc as the Bills have). I have nothing against Schwartz and appreciate that he did a good job for the year he was here, but all of this sounds like Whaley pushing his own narrative and working to undermine the HC. It is a bad look. If Doug Whaley wants total control as GM he should stop being a coward - especially after undermining the HC with ownership and leaks to the media. Doug, you got what you wanted, your absence this week only confirms my suspicions about you and deep disappointment. Again, this is all a bad look to anyone who might be in demand when they consider how the GM undermined the HC.
  18. You do realize that whoever was responsible for counting to 11 is still employed by the Buffalo Bills and will be on the sideline against the Jets.
  19. As i have said before, follow the money or in this case - who has benefited most by all of this. Who still has a job even though he has been for a longer period of the drought? Who has been chosen to lose the search? P.S. Who was afraid to answer questions this week?
  20. I never thought that St. Doug Whaley should be fired (and indeed supported him) until it became clear to me that he was undermining the head coach in the middle of the season with ownership and in the media. Although I did not like how much we gave up for Sammy, I was willing to overlook that. It is clear to me though that he undermined the coach. That bothers me. That also will bother any potential HC candidate that is worthwhile and in demand. We will hire someone that is either completely beholden to DW for the job (and not in any particular demand) or the Pegulas will have to really overpay and make promises (e.g., of course we will give you more than two years). Just my two cents. This should be fun.
  21. Wait, is Doug now taking credit for the EJ pick or just the trade down?
  22. Funny how you did not have that reaction to the current Whaley spin on this. I was beginning to think that Doug Whaley was on vacation in the Himalayas when Rex was hired behind his back and against his will.
  23. Was it Jerry McGuire when Rene Zelwegger "completed" Tom Cruise? Apparently, back then, Rex Ryan completed Doug Whaley.
  24. He is just the latest to conclude this. It is not a good look - firing a guy less than two years with leaks swirling moments before biggest game of year. If you are a worthwhile and in demand HC candidate, why would you choose this situation over another where the prior guy got less than two years, presumably was undermined by the GM with ownership and (I think) damaging leaks to the media, and the depth of injuries, suspensions, and a bottom half QB. Not a great situation.
