  1. Think of me as Leonardo DiCaprio.
  2. Again, I just don't agree that he was given a fair opportunity - especially with all of the injuries and suspensions etc. McCoy was given four full years with a worse winning percentage and an all pro QB. Rex was given less than two years without a Philip Rivers. As it is, the defense that we had this past year performed better against common opponents compared to the defense of the guy many here tout as the defensive Svengali. As for discipline and focus, yesterday's game may have shown that Rex was the only guy keeping it together.
  3. I hope you are correct. I really do. My difference of opinion regarding the above is that injuries and suspensions and bottom half QB play were the reasons for not making the playoffs.
  4. As I recall, Tom gave McCoy four years and McCoy had a Pro Bowl QB. Even with Philip Rivers, McCoy only had a .422 winning percentage compared to Rex's .484 with the Bills. Hmmmm.
  5. I posted this earlier, but in case you guys did not see it. I am good friends with people who know Wade personally. I also met him a few times while he was HC of the Bills. As an aside, he lived on the same street as Scotty Bowman near where some good friends of our family lived. Wade is a great guy. He loves Buffalo, and as far as I know, I would be very surprised if he were to turn down a chance to come back as HC. Of course, I have no idea what he thinks about our current "General" Manager etc. In my judgment, Wade would be a great HC (and already was one before).
  6. As those of you who read my posts know, I am as hard on the Buffalo media as anyone - especially the guys at TBN who are simply horrible (as someone else said, negativity is porn to Sullen and Bucky). I also know that press conferences do not win games. Having said all of that, I cannot think of anything that happened that instilled me with confidence about the GM or the product on the field. I also am a guy who is the glass is more than half full. I always found something hopeful to keep me going. Unless something drastically changes, this is about as pessimistic I have been about the upcoming year as I can remember since the 2-14 days. Maybe we can entice a coach that I admire and I will feel better. As for now, I believe (you guys are welcome to disagree with me) that the GM (or if he is to be believed "Limited or No Manager") threw the other guy under the bus in less than two years - even though the other guy was the most successful Bills HC in the past 17 years. Why would a hot coaching candidate with options choose to work with Doug if he has other options all other things being equal. It is funny how Doug defended himself by saying we were so close at 7-9 and 7-8 was not good enough for the HC whom (I believe) Doug threw under the bus.
  7. Three and outs put a lot of stress on the defense. It is not something to be proud of. Maybe if we had Tom Brady, I would be less concerned.
  8. Nothing sends a message of confidence, competence, and optimism like a Doug Whaley press conference.
  9. If you fall in the camp that hiring Rex was a bad decision, at whose feet did he lay that "blame"? Also, the way he characterized everything he is just an innocent bystander while ownership or others make all of the decisions and he is informed after the fact. The guy goes so far out of the way to avoid any responsibility (after the fact) for any decision that others may believe to be bad, he acts like he was in the bathroom while all of these decisions were made by others. If I were the owner, I would be pissed.
  10. Crying Jordan would be a good meme for: Why did I put this guy in charge after spending $1.4 Billion?!?!
  11. I seriously doubt that the Bills will be able to hire anyone who is a great, in demand HC candidate unless the Pegulas OVERPAY and/or there are big time changes. Why would anyone who has great options choose a job where the former coach was pushed out the door in less than two years even though he was the most successful coach in the past 17 years (and, as I suspect, the former coach was undermined by the GM to ownership and media). Based on yesterday, it may be that Rex was the only thing keeping it together. Doug throwing ownership under the bus and the likely approach of the media (think vultures) to any Pegula press conference are not likely to entice them.
  12. Doug Whaley did nothing to instill confidence in any potential HC candidate - either in the press conference or the weeks and months that preceded it.
  13. I said this earlier and I will say it again (if you believe Doug's narrative), he just threw ownership under the bus (live on radio/TV) like he did behind the scenes with Rex. This is the beginning of the end of St. Doug II I predict.
  14. If I were Kim or Terry, I would be asking the question why did I listen to this guy rather than Rex?!?! P.S. Doug expressed concern about other teams stealing Doug's "blueprint." That is about the last thing Doug has to worry about.
  15. The way Doug Whaley is presenting it, his job title should be changed from "General Manager" to "Limited or No Manager."
  16. Rex's defense did better against common opponents than Schwartzy. Paging Jason LaCanfora . . . .
  17. If I were the Pegulas, I would have even less confidence in my GM after listening to this. Also, by definition, he is throwing the Pegulas under the bus for the Rex hire (if you believe that hiring Rex was a mistake which I do not). How many people can Doug throw under that bus? It is amazing that he is doing it to the owners live on the radio and TV. He will be the next guy to go.
  18. Doug keeps on defending himself by saying that we are 7-9 and we are close. If so, why was Rex thrown under the bus? Hmmm.
  19. Doug Whaley already has figured out his end game. If Anthony Lynn fails as head coach, Doug will say he had nothing to do with it and it was all Rex's fault. This will be at least the second HC search that Doug will say he had nothing to do with.
  20. I do not believe that a GM of ANY NFL organization would have no input to ownership regarding the head coach.
  21. You really believe that he was not throwing Rex under the bus before the decision was made? He is just saying that "he was not privy to that conversation" - that does not answer the question about his involvement. He is parsing words in the tradition of Bill Clinton. Update: He just said he did not have input. I do not believe that at all.
  22. I heard Fairburn ask about the hire What about the firing?
  23. Why aren't any of these guys asking him what he recommended regarding Rex?
  24. You are correct. It definitely should not be shots. We probably would need an IV drip and medical assistance at the ready.
  25. Not a good sign when the rookie is pointing this out. All of those guys who complained anonymously to Ty Dunne last week (to the extent they exist) had an opportunity to show what they were made of. Unfortunately, they did.
