AP John Wawrow interview with Terry Pegula
Peter replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know some of you guys did not want to believe me that the whole thing with Rex, Doug Whaley etc. would not go over well. Unfortunately, we will be choosing from the runts of the litter compared to the teams with other openings. Not if you have other options . . . . -
Sous Vide - Virgin Journey Today! Advice?
Peter replied to plenzmd1's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Well done. I am intrigued. Che Steps (Joule) does not appear to have a lobster recipe so I will probably have to borrow from you and some of the things on line when I get around to doing lobster. -
Let's be clear: if you pay $1.4 B for an NFL team, you will at least get to approve the guy who is going to be the face of your franchise.

AP John Wawrow interview with Terry Pegula
Peter replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I suspect that there may be some truth to this. This is not playing well around the country or league and (I know people do not want to believe it) it will cause concern (to put it mildly) with any candidate - especially those that are worthwhile and in demand. -
AP John Wawrow interview with Terry Pegula

We clearly disagree. Your referring to the Jets is interesting given that he got thrown under the bus there as well. As I posted before, his "useless scheme" did better against common opponents compared to the Eagles . . . even with players that PFF rated slightly less than Eagles' starting defenders. In a nutshell, I just don't think that less than two years was fair under the circumstances and also hate the fact that we are starting over again. I hope that my nightmares of the NFL equivalent of Ron Rolston are just that and do not come to reality. -
GM Doug Whaley's end of season press conference

Direction? The guy had the best record as a Buffalo Bills HC in the past 17 years . . . even with all of the injuries and suspensions and QB play . . . and leaks to the media and someone whispering in the owners' ears. Direction? The guy got less time (31 games) than McCoy (who was fired today) who had an all pro QB in Rivers but a lesser winning percentage. Hmm. -

I hope so too and hope that i am wrong. Sadly, I am. I am even a season ticket holder that lives in Miami. For your answer, see my other posts. In short, I do not believe that less than two years is enough time to fairly evaluate a guy especially with all of the injuries, depth of injuries, suspensions, and QB play. My view. -
AP John Wawrow interview with Terry Pegula
Peter replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We disagree and I am not blind. I posted the other day a comparison of how Rex's defense did against common opponents of the Eagles whose defensive coordinator (according to some here) invented defense. I also mentioned that PFF rates the Eagles' starting defenders as slightly superior to the Bills defenders. I did this not to diss Schwartz but to provide context and blunt this narrative that others have had. It is hard to get a defense to perform up to its capabilities when key guys are injured or suspended etc. Just my two cents. -

I always will love Terry and Kim and be grateful for saving the NFL in Buffalo and contributing to the Buffalo renaissance. Having said that, I think they are getting bad advice from Doug Whaley and listened to the whispers of the wrong guy while watching games in the box. -

My educated opinion. Agree to disagree. It is all on Whaley now. Doug may want to speak with Darcy so that he can plan ahead and prepare himself for what is likely to happen. -

You would be incorrect. -

You are parsing about as much as Doug did earlier today. What was obvious to me was that there were a lot of injuries and suspensions. I would have hoped that the GM would have given context rather than (as I believe) throw Rex under the bus to save his own job). This is possible. -
AP John Wawrow interview with Terry Pegula
Peter replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I disagree with decision to fire Rex as is well documented. On this, I agree 100%. Bucky, Sully et al burned their bridges a long time ago and will not treat the Pegulas fairly whether they grant them an interview or not. John, on the other hand, always has been fair . . . and that is why he got the interview. -

Is it? "(Whaley) had input on the basis of conversations throughout the year, what the problems were," Pegula said. -

Ron Rolston is the Mendoza line of head coaches. God forbid that Doug Whaley should hire the NFL version of Ron Rolston. Even I think Doug will do better than that. -

Indeed, you are 100% correct. I just read short version: "(Whaley) had input on the basis of conversations throughout the year, what the problems were," http://pro32.ap.org/article/apnewsbreak-bills-owner-outlines-reasons-he-fired-rex-ryan -
GM Doug Whaley's end of season press conference

Don't know. Yet, I saw Pittsburgh (for example) have problems with communications and not enough men on the field. As far as I know, Mike T still has his job. These issues can happen to a lot of coaches. I do not mean to pick on Tomlin. I also think that yesterday's game showed that Rex may have been the only guy keeping it together. -
GM Doug Whaley's end of season press conference
Peter replied to Rico's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The point I was trying to make is that guys like Cowher (just as an example) want to be the big swinging you know what. Guys like that do not want to answer to a guy like Doug Whaley and Doug Whaley has shown (in my judgment) that he does not want someone with a bigger name than he has. He wants someone who is beholden to him (I think)> -
GM Doug Whaley's end of season press conference

I have not read the article yet. I am not sure it is available yet. It does not surprise me that Terry Pegula would agree to be interviewed by John. John is fair . . . unlike some of those other guys (particularly at TBN). -

Wouldn't that question be an issue for a guy like Cowher or Gruden or someone like that who would want to be more in control (compared to the GM) as opposed to a guy like Lynn or someone else that would not be a marque hiring or have a lot of other options. -

I am "guilty" of having that opinion. Nevertheless, even without that opinion, it is not playing well around the country or with people who wanted to get rid of Rex (unlike me). -

Basically, Doug Whaley was out of the building or on leave when every important decision that some have criticized was made. His title also is officially going to be changed from "General Manager" to "Limited or No Manager."
