  1. Whoever the Bills hire as coach, I hope that we do not have any devastating leaks to the media moments before important games that undermine both the coach and the team.
  2. From what I have read from some here, everything should be just fine because Doug Whaley is now in charge.
  3. The end of this year has felt pretty hopeless. Losing playoff games and each of those four Super Bowls were very depressing - on one level even more so - but we seem to have so many questions and unknowns now.
  4. The Bills really should interview Wade. He would be great.
  5. You may recall that the Steelers did not have the correct number of players on the field in another game you presumably watched.
  6. I am tired of the Doug Whaley narrative.
  7. One of the things I am planning on doing when I have time in the off season is to review some of these games that people bring up and look at scheme and tackling etc. on the coach's film. My memory of these games is not consistent with the official narrative that many have here.
  8. Indeed . . . and when they are not running in the opposite direction or slowing down to look over at another player rather than chase the guy running to the end zone.
  9. . . . and the Steeler players actually tackle.
  10. Their first time out, the Pegulas picked the most successful Bills HC in the past 17 years notwithstanding the injuries, suspensions etc. Not too bad for people who supposedly do not know what they are doing. Better than all of the experts. Great QBs do make everyone else look better.
  11. Well said. This board would be in complete meltdown. The guys at TBN would have to go to the hospital as a result of loss of bodily fluid. As an aside, something tells me that the Dolphins are not going to be firing Gase or Vance Joseph.
  12. As you are watching this, keep in mind that Vance Joseph (according to some) is the leading candidate to become the Broncos HC.
  13. Poor Doug Whaley.
  14. That is funny. Well done.
  15. I agree. As I mentioned above, it seems like either the writer borrowed Sully's notes or Sully was the ghost writer. It is a very Sully article.
  16. This will all depend on the quality and leverage of the HC candidate.
  17. People are again surprised about things that they should not be surprised about: People pay $1.4 B and are involved . . . not surprising to me. As for picking the HC, our neophyte owners picked someone who ended up being the most successful Bills HC in the past 17 years (even with all of the injuries, suspensions, QB play, devastating leaks). (Some want us to believe that this was done against Whaley's wishes. Whatever.) Not too bad a decision and nothing about which to be embarrassed. Whaley made Whaley look bad all by himself - not the Pegulas. As an aside, the article looks like either the writer borrowed Sully's notes or Sully was the ghost writer. Just my two cents.
  18. Why do people seem to be surprised that this came up in an interview with a potential HC? Wouldn't it be natural for a candidate to have concern about this (and other things for that matter)? P.S. To those people bringing up the groin, do you really believe that he was benched for that reason? Come on.
  19. Great. I just think that a thread that is now 9 pages needed a bit of perspective. We are still stuck with these guys . . . no matter what you think of Rex or Rob. If you are a Buffalo Bills fan, it should concern you that: Guys cannot tackle. Guys cannot make plays even when they are in position. Guys would prefer to slow down and look over at a teammate to blame him rather than run after a guy headed to the end zone. Guys are too stupid to even realize that they are admitting that they are stupid or lazy. The next coordinator better come with his crayons. Guys would rather anonymously take shots at someone than be accountable. At least Marcell did not hide . . . although Bart Scott was correct in his observations. I feel so much better.
  20. That definitely would be a concern that anyone not desperate to be a HC would have . . . along with other things mentioned here.
  21. That must explain the bad tackling . . . . I am glad to find out that we have championship defensive players and the scheme was the only thing keeping them back from a Super Bowl.
  22. Do we have a QB to groom? Will we have a QB to groom?
  23. I am not a fan of Sully in the least but there is a point to be made with what he is saying. I am not particularly excited about any of the guys that the Bills are interviewing thus far. Of the ones that they are interviewing, I probably could live with Anthony Lynn. I am impressed with his back story and it would be less of a start over. He seems like a leader. McDermott may be ok but who knows. I am not excited about him, but I would try to be open minded. People Not Interviewed: I would interview Wade. Of the guys that would likely to take the job, he would be my favorite. I also would interview Coughlin if we could groom an heir apparent. For me, I would choose either Wade or Coughlin above the names we are hearing. Comment: When people say that they are interviewing everyone that everyone else is interviewing except the two Patriot coordinators and Shanahan, that is kind of like saying they are interviewing everyone but the three guys many seem to think are the top three candidates. I do not know whether any of these three would be great HCs or not, but I doubt that any of the three are interested in being the Bills HC at present in any event. Long Shots If I were doing the search, I would use back channels to see whether there was any interest from Harbaugh and what would it take to entice him. If I were Harbaugh, I would stay at Michigan rather than take any NFL job. This comment has more to do with his position at Michigan than a comment on the Bills. I also would do the same with Gruden and Cowher. I like Gruden although he seems to have detractors over the years here. I would suspect the same result with Gruden and Cowher as with Harbaugh, but think that Gruden might be someone that the Pegulas might be able to convince with lots of $$$ and power. The Bills might be doing all of this and we just have not heard about. I doubt that the search includes these types of candidates given that I do not think that the guy leading the search wants anyone who would have more cache or power than he has.
  24. I voted for Wade. He was unfairly fired. It would right a wrong. He loves Buffalo. He is a great coach (in my opinion).
  25. Whether you think Rob Ryan (or Rex for that matter) is good or bad: Have any of these players in their anonymous quotes to Ty Dunne taken responsibility for not tackling, being either too dumb or too lazy to learn the playbook, not making plays when they were in position to make plays, slowing down to look at/blame someone else rather than try to tackle the guy running into the end zone . . . . The Ryan brothers are gone. We still are going to be stuck with some of these players.
