  1. There is no evidence at the time that Whaley was AGAINST hiring Rex. Indeed, the Whaley quotes from the time show that he was not AGAINST hiring Rex. This is a new narrative. As to whether I like Doug Whaley: I used to defend the guy until I came to the conclusion (my judgment) that he threw Rex under the bus with ownership and the media. You clearly do not agree with my conclusion. Nevertheless, in responding to someone else's post regarding Whaley, I found a Buffalo News article which I linked earlier in this thread. Ironically, it speaks of Rex defending Whaley's decision to trade so much for Sammy. It is interesting to me that Rex supported Whaley and even his most controversial decision and yet (in my judgment) Whaley repaid him by throwing Rex under the bus. That is why I think Whaley is a weasel. I found John W's post on the subject of Rex getting fired also instructive: Posted 06 January 2017 - 11:55 AM Estelle Getty, on 03 Jan 2017 - 03:52 AM, said: ummm. no. jw http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/191320-doug-whaley-angry-that-rex-got-fired/?p=4204380
  2. Question to JW re whether Whaley should have been asked whether he was the source for LaCanfora re Rex: 3) I noticed that no one asked Whaley whether he was the source for LaCanfora re Rex - the leak that came out just before the Pittsburgh game. In fact, I do not recall anyone asking anyone else whether they were a source for someone else (other than perhaps Deep Throat). Is this a question that journalists would hesitate or avoid asking because it may scare sources? http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/191375-a-simple-question-for-the-media-who-frequent-this-board/?p=4203248 JW answer: 3) The question to Whaley was relatively unique, but certainly merited being raised given some unconfirmed rumors that have been floating around for past 3 weeks. And no, I won't get into what those rumors are. http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/191375-a-simple-question-for-the-media-who-frequent-this-board/?p=4203248 Regarding whether LaCanfora has a source within Bills organization, LaCanfora tweeted that they had reached an agreement more than an hour before Bills and before Vic: User Actions Following Jason La CanforaVerified account‏@JasonLaCanfora Sean McDermott has agreed to become the next head coach of the Buffalo Bills RETWEETS 657 LIKES 498 3:26 PM - 11 Jan 2017
  3. This makes sense to help him transition and prepare him for the role. ??? The above could be based on real information. Clayton merely expresses opinion . . . with very little if any inside information.
  4. Yes. I agree. This was just an example of that. I did not realize my compliment of McDermott would be controversial.
  5. I would think (but do not know) that Monos would be loyal to Whaley given the opportunity that Whaley gave him. Having said that, it does seem that there was someone at OBD leaking with the intent to do harm.
  6. I wonder what Mrs. McCoy thinks. Therein may lie the answer. Did they enjoy their time in Denver the first time around. Do they already have friends there etc. Also, if Vance Joseph is not able to rise to the occasion, McCoy would be there to assume control. Who knows what is important to him and his family. Maybe they have ties to Buffalo. Maybe the Pegulas will make them an offer they cannot refuse.
  7. Come on. You know what I mean. It takes a lot of dedication to be a wrestler. I always respected those guys.
  8. You have done an excellent job of explaining your opinion. It is an opinion, which I respect (although I may disagree). In fact, it is an opinion that Whaley liked Hue . . . but, of course, that is different from stating that he was AGAINST hiring Rex or went along with it kicking and screaming. Moreover, it is a far cry from the gratuitous and fallacious suggestion that -- unless one were asleep or not paying attention at the time Rex was hired -- we all should have known that Whaley was against the hiring of Rex. I still believe this to be revisionist history.
  9. Where does it state in your quote that Whaley was AGAINST hiring Rex?
  10. I do think that being a champion wrestler does say something about a guy. I never wrestled, but I saw what those guys had to go through.
  11. I was gratuitously accused of being a sleep and not paying attention. Please tell me from what source "many of us know it to be true" that Whaley was AGAINST hiring Rex and the timing of that source? I suspect that you are basing your opinion on recent "information" rather than anything from the time that Rex was hired. P.S. It could very well be that Whaley (as do many of us) likes Hue Jackson. That does not mean that he was AGAINST hiring Rex.
  12. Nice quotes and compliments.
  13. Please just tell me (because you always are awake and paying attention) . . . is Whaley all in on hiring McDermott? I want to know so that there is no dispute about this like the revisionist history with the prior guy. Crusade? That is funny. Very funny. Contrast my recent opinion of Whaley (after having defended him) and resulting posts with the multitude of threads and posts over the past year or so regarding Rex. In many cases, multiple threads on the same day. I have not started one thread on the Whaley subject.
  14. Another way to read what you state is that there is NO publicly available article etc. from that time in which it is stated that Whaley was AGAINST hiring Rex. You have just chosen to believe the recent narrative. Moreover, there would be nothing from that time -- for those of us that were paying attention and were not asleep (to use Promo's caustic remark) -- to conclude at the time that Whaley was AGAINST hiring Rex. To the contrary, what we have is Whaley going out of his way to state that they have the exact same philosophy and complete each other's sentences. Hmmmm.
  15. . . . or I may be the boss. Believe what you want. The guy went out of his way to talk about completing each others sentences. Show me an article from that time where it states that he was AGAINST hiring Rex. Given how (I believe) Whaley threw Rex under the bus, I also found another section of the Buffalo News article that I linked both interesting and ironic: "On Ryan supporting Whaley’s controversial decision to trade first- and fourth-round picks in this year’s draft to move up to select wide receiver Sammy Watkins in last year’s draft: “I appreciate it. I look at it this way: we’re excited to have a No. 1 wide receiver for a long time." I think Whaley has made an arse out of himself. He made that clear to the world in his press conference. I used to defend the guy - even when he paid too much for Sammy. I think he actually is a pretty good scout/talent evaluator. I just think he is a weasel now. I hope he does a great job though because he has the title of "General Manager" of the team that I love.
  16. I just don't agree with the bit that Whaley did not support the hire. That (to me) is revisionist history. I also find it humorous that Whaley has attempted to distance himself from the hire. It is particularly funny given how the two apparently completed one another. I also like to think that I pay attention to this team (unlike the Promo caustic remark). In fact, I pay way too much freaking attention to this team. Oh well, we each can believe what we want about the Rex hire. I just wanted to make sure that I know what the official narrative is this time around regarding whether Whaley supports the hire . . . or are we going to hear down the road that he wanted someone else.
  17. I am. Nevertheless, what I said about Whaley is still true.
  18. Was this known before or after Doug Whaley went out of his way to say how he and Rex completed each other's sentences? http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-1/How-the-Bills-decided-on-Rex-Ryan-as-head-coach/aa1cc736-b6c4-4af7-bfe9-4aba573bf0fd http://buffalonews.com/2015/01/21/whaley-feeling-positive-about-bills-new-direction/ With respect (because I always have liked you as a poster), I think it is revisionist history to suggest that Whaley was not in support of hiring Rex. P.S. The " Get over it" and "I can't help it you don't pay attention" and "not our problem you slept through that" do nothing in persuading me to your view. Just sounds foolish . . . especially when we could have heard Doug and Rex continue to finish each other's sentences.
  19. Seriously, I want to know. I had never heard that Whaley (supposedly) was not all in re Rex until very recently.

  21. What is the official narrative: Was McDermott a Whaley hire or not . . or will we only hear that he was not when Jason LaCanfora tweets that McDermott may be fired minutes before an important game.
  22. There is another one on twitter that cuts off Whaley altogether so as to only include the Pegulas and McDermott.
  23. If I were Doug Whaley, I would hope that Kim does not have time to read some of the comments that people have tweeted in response to her tweet.
  24. That is exactly they way they do it. Well done.
  25. I think he had the article written a week or so ago and was just waiting to insert the name of the new head coach. He and Bucky are now spit balling how they can somehow include the words "Pegulas" and "over their heads" in future articles . . . no matter what the subject.
