  1. I appreciate your comments. I will continue to post my views on this and any other subjects. [Please take note of my comment about our players that started this back and forth]. My comments are not meant as any disrespect to anyone. I have a habit of defending those that I think should be defended or on whom others pile on. They are just my views. As much as I am enjoying the Sous Vide thread in Off the Wall, I will continue to offer my views here as I have many years before RR was hired as coach . . . . That could be. I wish I knew more (with certainty) about what the thinking was.
  2. I try to be (sensible). I happen to disagree with those that post frequently on the subject here . . . as well as ownership. That puts me in the minority of many of the active posters and those that matter (the Pegulas). I am passionate about the Bills and feel strongly about this subject. I still think it was a mistake . . . especially after re-reading this comment from Terry Pegula just a year ago: "Kim (Pegula), Russ (Brandon) and I look forward to working and collaborating with Doug Whaley and Rex Ryan in forming a winning future for the organization," Pegula continued. "Our management team and coaching staff are very capable and work well together. This stable foundation is necessary to achieve long term success in the NFL." http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000612634/article/buffalo-bills-confirm-rex-ryan-doug-whaley-will-stay I still believe what Terry said then. A year has gone by, and we have a new coach. I hope that he turns out to be great . . . but there is nothing that I can point to that gives me any conviction one way or the other about the guy. I was hoping for better coordinators. That does not look like it is going to happen. We have a rookie head coach and we are doing the same thing that we did in: 2001 2004 2006 2009 2010 2013 2015 . . . start over. Go Bills!
  3. Hijack threads? Let's revisit my comment that set this back and forth off: In response to Gunner Bill stating that McDermott likes to "mix it up," I posted: "Will he be allowed to mix it up with the Bills . . . or will our players complain that it is too difficult . . . ." Hmmm. As I mentioned, the former head coach is gone, but we still have the players who elicited Bart Scott's crayons comment (when he explained just how simple the other scheme was). One could say the same about you and numerous other people who tirelessly have posted their thoughts against Rex. Out of curiosity, have you or ndirish ever asked any of those guys (or yourselves) to stop with your "crusade" against Rex? I will continue to post my thoughts and add some perspective and context where I think appropriate. It is all fair game. Indeed, I keep on reading about Jim Schwartz on this site to this day. The fact is that I am not particularly excited about the new staff. I hope we hired the next Bill Belichick in McDermott but who the hell really knows. As far as I can tell, no other team invited SM back for a second interview. I wanted to see who the guy hired as coordinators. So far, I am not particularly impressed . . . especially after initially reading that McDermott and McCoy were somehow joined at the hip. It may be that the best we can hope for now for OC is someone like Ken Dorsey (who may be out the door with the Panther anyway). I am afraid we have taken a step back, and we are in rinse and repeat mode. I hope I am wrong about that. I have too much emotionally and financially invested in this team as an out of town season ticket holder of 30 years (whose Dad was a charter season ticket holder). I was a passionate Bills fan for many years before Rex . . . and will be a fan into the future. It will be interesting to see whether the guys who gave the former coach little or no slack when it came to injuries and suspensions will be as parsimonious in this regard with Sean McDermott. With respect, calling me a crusader may be the definition of "irony." I have felt like one lonely salmon swimming up stream in a sea of anti Rex posters carrying pitchforks.
  4. I am sorry that you are unable to handle a dissenting voice. God forbid that anyone should disagree with the multiple anti Rex crusaders on this board. There was another ridiculous anti Rex thread that was started yesterday. I know some of you guys would prefer to be in a circle j--k. I will continue to post my opinions and comments . . . sorry that I cannot accommodate your need for an echo chamber.
  5. Still a serious question. The team fired the guy you wanted gone. We still are stuck with our mensa candidates. Crusade? I have never started a thread on the subject buddy.
  6. Will he be allowed to mix it up with the Bills . . . or will our players complain that it is too difficult . . . .
  7. Do any of you guys know who McDermott's agent is?
  8. That would be depressing either way. Did McDermott have any second interviews with any other teams?
  9. I have only skimmed this thread, but I find it odd that some here revel in criticizing a guy who fully embraced Buffalo . . . a city that many around the country (wrongly) have made fun of or looked down upon for many years. Carry on with pissing on the guy if that makes you feel better . . . .
  10. Indeed . . . without any consideration given as a result of injuries and suspensions. I hope we hired the next Bill Belichick . . . but it is hard to get terribly excited so far. We shall see . . . .
  11. I wonder to what extent that McDermott said he and McCoy were joined at the hip in the interviewing process. For his sake, I hope he did not oversell himself. I am going to wait and see how this all pans out, but there is not a lot to be enthusiastic about at the moment. With any luck, we just hired the next Bill Belichick, but who knows at this point.
  12. I got the Joule from ChefSteps. https://store.chefsteps.com https://www.chefsteps.com/joule https://www.amazon.com/ChefSteps-CS10001-Joule-White-Stainless/dp/B01M8MMLBI/ref=sr_1_1?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1484595510&sr=1-1&keywords=joule+sous+vide I asked for this one for Christmas because: 1) It is much smaller than the other ones that I saw. My wife always complains when I want to get something: "Where are we going to put that." 2) ChefSteps seems to have some great recipes. 3) I can control it with my iPhone. The app is great and has a visual doneness feature so that you can look at photos of what the food will look like after cooking at various temperatures etc. I like it. 4) It works with Amazon's Alexa as well. 5) It has a magnet at the bottom that helps it stand up when using it in a pot. FWIW, Amazon says that the Joule is the number one new release in Amazon launchpad kitchen and number 2 best seller in this category between the $148 Anova (number 1) and the $199 Anova (number 3). https://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/boost/12034499011/ref=pd_zg_hrsr_k_1_3_last Take a look at the various ones available and determine which is best for you.
  13. As I mentioned up thread, I got the Joule for Christmas. So far, so good. 1) Rib eye steaks: Steaks had perfect doneness. I seared on the stove. Next time, I will do it on the Big Green Egg. 2) Chicken breasts (Costco/Kirkland): I made chicken breasts for dinner last night. Again, perfect doneness. I seared on the stove afterward. These were as good as I have made. 3) Bacon (Costco/Kirkland center cut/thick): I cooked overnight for about 14 hours at 147 degrees. According to the recipe, you can cook them anywhere from 8 to 48 hours. I was able to cook in the original packaging, which made it easier. When I took them out of the bag this morning, I seared them on one side as recommended in the recipe. Perfect combination of crunchy on one side and meaty on the other. I have been cooking in a pot so far. I went ahead and ordered the 3 gallon Lipavi sous vide container, corresponding lid, and the rack on Amazon. The lid and rack arrived on Saturday, but the container does not arrive until sometime today. I am not sure the container is going to be big enough for the larger things I may want to cook, but I think it will be satisfactory for every day stuff. I suspect that I will have more flexibility than cooking in a round pot.
  14. If that is what you got out of that . . . God help you. I am only partially kidding.
  15. I hope these guys are not Flyers fans.
  16. As I said, I am going to give him a Mulligan and hope Crossman's special teams rebound as they did two years ago. Nevertheless, I do not have warm and fuzzy feelings about Crossman.
  17. It is true. I remember saying the Lord's Prayer as a team in the locker room before each game of football that I played. As far as I know, most football teams in the NFL do it. As an aside, I judge people by their actions and how they live their life - as opposed to what they call themselves etc. Nevertheless, it is BS for anyone to even hint that this should be a criticism.
  18. I agree with this 100%. Hats off to Tyrod.
  19. This is McD's first mistake. I choose to give him a Mulligan for the time being even though I think are special teams were pretty bad last year. Maybe he will rebound like he did two years ago. I can hope.
  20. Really? Come on. This is what they are focusing on as a criticism? There is nothing wrong with having faith or being faith-based. In fact, many times, I have to draw on my faith to be a Buffalo Bills fan.
  21. As part of my job, I "speak" in public. I am an attorney. While I think that being able to speak articulately is a sign of intelligence, I do not think that NOT being able to do so is a sign of LACK of intelligence. I know some VERY smart people who also are socially awkward and uncomfortable. Moreover, I remember seeing a list of the things that people fear in life and (as I recall) public speaking ranked higher than getting cancer. It would be a HUGE mistake to judge Terry's intelligence based on whether he is a gifted public speaker.
  22. I actually got to the point where I was rooting for our kick off returners to just take a touch back, because: 1) I had little confidence that we could return it at or past the 25 anyway; 2) I was afraid of a block in the back or holding penalty that would push the drive start back even further.
  23. No. Not at all. He saved NFL football for my hometown.
  24. I think McDermott made a first good impression. I look forward to seeing who he hires/retains. Let's see how this all plays out. As I mentioned earlier, he seems to be earnest, straight forward, and a hard worker. P.S. I am not sure why he retained Crossman. I guess I have to give him one Mulligan.
