  1. What a cancer. Not the kind of guy you want in the locker room clearly. Sarcasm off. I hope some of you guys with the "cancer" and other cliches will now put those to rest.
  2. I like the trade. It is unlikely that the Bills would get a player as good as KB with the third and, as someone else said, the seventh is like leaving a tip. I will like the trade even more presuming the Bills are able to extend KB and he does not have any lingering knee issues. I liked KB out of college. Defensive backs do not seem very excited about wanting to tackle him. Although he does not get great separation (according to a stat that someone else posted earlier in the thread), KB is one of those guys who is open when he not really open. I am not saying KB is Gronk, but I can see KB playing somewhat of a similar role because of the issue his size causes defenses. Especially when Clay comes back healthy, TT will have an assortment of good options to throw to and plenty of guys with size.
  3. "These people . . . being obtuse . . . ." Oh, brother. Rather than be obtuse, I would just refer you to my posts on the subject.
  4. I posted that I would have been ok with a third or a decent player under the circumstances (if they were going to get rid of him at all). We may end up missing him or at least be pissed off watching him play well for Marrone. As for Dareus, some have tried to justify this by claiming he is a "cancer" and BS like that. He clearly was not a "cancer" if you ask his teammates. He seems like a decent kid who has not hurt anyone in his life and has had one tragedy after another. I wish him well. It will piss me off if he plays well under Marrone. I cannot stand Marrone, but Marrone knows him well and apparently has no issue with Dareus in his team's locker room.
  5. I am on record that I do not like the compensation and would not have traded him for basically nothing (regardless of cap space etc.). I will just refer you to my posts on the subject so that I do not have to go through all this again.
  6. All and all, a pretty, pretty good draft (so far) (Larry David voice). I wish the Chiefs would do their part and lose the rest of their games so that pick is better than it seems it will be at the moment.
  7. I felt the same way. For those of you who easily dismiss him as a "cancer" (although Kyle and his teammates say otherwise) or claim that he should be more like Kyle, let's try to remember that Dareus did not grow up with the advantages that I presume most of the people here did. His life has been one tragedy after another. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/11028815/marcell-dareus-simply-judge-buffalo-bills-defensive-lineman-recent-arrests Dareus actually seems like a decent guy. He apparently really liked Buffalo and thought of the city as a constant in his life given that not a lot of other things were. He now plays for the Jags, and we can all be excited by what awaits us when we use that 6th round draft choice.
  8. Again an objective evaluator of talent (PFF) gave him a rating of 80 and he was our highest rated interior linemen. I value that more than a 6th round pick. None of the Bills players thought he was a cancer or disliked him. Let's just agree to disagree. You love the trade. You hate Dareus. I hate the trade. I suspect that he is going to play very well for the Jags and Marrone, and I will hate the trade even more. Just my two cents.
  9. A bit of an overstatement perhaps? I am glad that you and some others are happy with this trade. Great. I don't mind trading pretty much any player - I just think that Dareus was worth more than a 6th round pick.
  10. Other teams realized this because the Bills made no secret of this. Hence, they only got a 6th round pick. Many of you guys love the trade. I don't like what they got in return. P.S. As for the quotes, did one guy say they did not like Dareus? In fact, Kyle said he as well liked in the locker room. The most that was said is that certain players saw this coming. I sure hope so. The Bills made no secret of this . . . so much so that even the Buffalo News knew he was going to be traded.
  11. I would not trade Kyle and I certainly would not trade him for less than sufficient value. You are the one that brought up ratings . . . .
  12. Certainly there was "subtraction" without much "addition." By the way, read Kyle Williams' quotes. It is clear that he was well liked among his teammates. If you want to trade someone fine. My problem is that they did not get sufficient value in my opinion. I would have tried to trade him for more with the Jags or another team before the deadline. Barring that, I would have kept him until I got good value for him. This was like a short sale.
  13. Speaking of ratings (since you brought them up), PFF had him as the Bills' best interior defensive lineman with a rating of 80 -- 22 spots higher than our next interior defensive lineman (Kyle) who has a rating of 76.1.
  14. Thanks for making my point. The Bills were desperate to trade him and got what people get when they show desperation in negotiations (whether a trade in the NFL or any other type of negotiation).
  15. They did because it was no secret that they were desperate to get rid of him. Just my two cents. Oh brother. That argument might make sense if I would have made that trade. You do realize that the Texans also made that trade because they also showed their desperation and were trying to clear cap space to acquire Tony Romo at that time when it appeared Romo was available in the Spring. They needed to make that trade quickly. Using another team's desperation to attempt to support your argument merely shows how desperate the Bills were. Desperation is not a good look when you are trying to negotiate a trade (or anything else in life).
  16. I am thinking for myself buddy. I am showing that by not being a lemming and claiming this was a great trade. I thought it was pretty clear why I pointed out the 11th post in this thread. That poster was stating an opinion (that probably was common at the time) as to what Dareus should get in return. Pretty simple really, but I guess you missed that. In any event, I think that the Bills painted themselves in a corner. The Jags took advantage. In my opinion, we should have gotten a third or at least a decent player. I guess we just disagree. Whatever.
  17. i do follow football . . . so yes, I do. My problem is not getting sufficient value for Dareus. I don't mind the guy playing for the Bills as you apparently do. Management decided to move on. Fine. Whatever. I just think that the Bills did not get value for the asset.
  18. The 11th post in this thread said (before the compensation was known): "anything less than a second is a joke" or words to that effect. I presume that if you took a poll of everyone on this board before the compensation was leaked, no one would have guessed a 6th round draft choice. In the end, I would have hoped that they could have found a team that would have traded at least a third. Of course, it did not help that (in my view) the Bills have let it be known that they were desperate to unload Dareus. When you show desperation, a 6th round pick is what you get. If that is all I could have gotten from the Jags, I would have tried to get something more elsewhere or held on to him. Of course, other teams presumably understood that the Bills did not intend to keep him and, accordingly, the Bills did not have much leverage in their negotiations.
  19. You get a 6th round pick when you show the league that you are desperate to get rid of a guy no matter what you receive in return. If you are going to trade Dareus, fine. But a 6th round pick no matter what the contract is a bag of pucks for a guy like that. St. Doug does not appear to have any qualms about Dareus. This sadly is the second time he has robbed the Bills.
  20. Yet, whatever Dareus did while Marrone was coach did not preclude the Jags from digging deep and caving to our demand for a 6th round draft choice. The Jags must have been really desperate to pay so much for Dareus.
  21. I think that your post captures my views on the subject. Clearly, Kyle Williams did not think that Dareus was a "cancer" or some other way some here have tried to portray him. Management decided to trade him, but, as you say, many of us (me included) are not happy with the bag of pucks we got in return.
  22. You must be the life of the party with that sense of humor.
  23. Indeed, some people are so blind that they are clueless and are quick to call others clueless while they attempt to justify a ridiculous trade. Thanks.
  24. Wow. You must be an accountant. I cannot wait to see the player we get for that 6th round pick. He no doubt will not take up much cap space so you will be very happy yet again. You called me clueless, but I am completely unimpressed with getting a 6th round pick for Dareus. How long have we heard about Dareus being traded? Clearly, Beane had advertised to the league that he was desperate to trade Dareus. Beane got what a desperate GM gets. Essentially nothing. Great. Wonderful. To make matters worse. We traded Dareus to Doug Marrone's team. I have a feeling that Marrone knows that Dareus is not the cancer that the Bills are trying to make him out to be to attempt to justify the bag of pucks we got for Dareus. In fact, I have a feeling Marrone knows just how good Dareus is and is laughing because this is the second time that he has essentially robbed the Buffalo Bills. Wow. I am so excited.
  25. Can you imagine the trade discussions. Jax (knowing that Beane has let it be known that he is desperate to trade Dareus and crossing their fingers): "We will give you a 7th round pick for Dareus." Beane: "How about a 6th?" Jax (trying to stop from laughing and trying to sound reluctant and still with fingers crossed): "Ok, we give in. We will trade a 6th round pick for that cancer." I am so excited. I cannot wait to see who we pick with that 6th round pick. I already have started my mock drafts.
