A couple of comments: 1. Thank you. I always appreciate your posts. 2. I hope the other teams don't read this, but it is not exactly earth shattering -- except that I had a hard time believing that Newton was at the top of our board. 3. Newton (although he might end up being great) scares the hell out of me. If they do pick him, I hope that he is Manning as opposed to Leaf or Jamarcus Newton. 4. Go Bills!!!

Judge Lifts Lockout P.S. I did not see the other post. Please delete.

I am not an FSU fan (I like the Canes), but Ponder is a good QB. If we picked him in the second round, I would not be upset at all. P.S. Unless it was meant as disinformation, I wonder if the Bills are re-thinking having Andre announce the second pick. The guy is an idiot for tweeting what he did if, in fact, he knew any inside information.

Vrabel -Oops In reality, he has confirmed what everyone knew already: Decertification was a sham. It also seems as though there are some fissures among the players. The players who are not named Manning, Brady, etc. are beginning to realize that the road they are going down may not be beneficial to the non superstars in the league.

[closed]Disturbing video of Japanes tsumani
Peter replied to bills_fan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Thanks for posting. I had not seen this one. I feel really bad for everyone over there. -
I love this show. Gruden is great. I could listen to him all day long. He clearly loves football and seems like a great personality to be around. So far, I have seen the Locker and Dalton shows. I was impressed with both and would have no problem picking either with our second round pick.

Some very good points -- especially about Jennifer Connelly.

Nix & Gailey on Phone Conference today
Peter replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That is exactly what I heard as well. The original poster must have misheard Gailey. They do not view PP as merely a nickel back. -
I am sure they are more willing than Evans.
-
If Evans is willing to go over the middle (as Andre did), he can really improve his game (Roscoe is completely willing to go over the middle, Evans should be as well). He has the opportunity to be become a complete (and much more dangerous receiver). If is not willing to do so, it is going to be more of the same. Defenses will continue to take him out of games.
-
I am looking forward to seeing whether Lee Evans can become a complete receiver and go over the middle. I do not think that the quick passes to the outside are what Chan was referring to.
-
Gailey is on to Lee Evans judging by his comments in the Buffalo News today. Gailey: Evans needs to run better routes and underneath routes It looks like we might finally see whether Lee Evans can be a complete receiver.

He seems like a great guy. He and his dad help make the NFL as popular as it is. I will thinking of him and hope that he gets better.

Mike Mayock puts a lot of time into what he does and it shows.

Marcell Dareus would be a good pick. Some of these other guys could be very good, but the scare me (e.g., Cam Newton).

RIP to a hero of my youth. This is very, very sad news. -
Anyone think the NFLPA messed up?
Peter replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I also think that the NFLPA made a mistake. In the short term, they are likely to win with Judge Doty, because Doty always seems to rule in their favor. When they get to the Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court, I predict that they will lose. I also think that the NFL has a strong argument that the decertification is a sham. This is so especially based on what they have done in the past. Also, although there is some language regarding waiver of the sham argument in a previous agreement, I recall reading that the waiver only comes into play if they had decertified after the CBA expired. The NFLPA (if my understanding is correct) shot themselves in the foot because they obviously chose to decertify prior to the CBA's expiration. Another option the NFL would have is to not have any rules (or limited rules) - which would blunt any antitrust suit. The NFLPA does not like a salary cap -- but they are going to hate not having a floor, which will affect a lot of players. Finally, in the American Needle case (if I recall the name of the case correctly), the Supreme Court included some language in the opinion that may allow the NFL to implement a lot more rules (draft, caps etc) than the NFLPA would like. In summary, expect the NFL to lose in Judge Doty's court (in my mind, the NFL will never get a fair determination with him). In the end, if it goes further without a settlement, the NFL will ultimately prevail. Just my two cents. -
FWIW - I prefer the red helmet as the part of the normal uni and the white helmet with standing Buffalo with the throwback. Best of both worlds. Regardless, i am very happy that they woke up and are getting rid of the awful unis we have had for the past several years. Just my two cents.

What is your Dream for the top 2 overall picks?
Peter replied to maddenboy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In my dream, the Bills pick Andrew Luck. Hey, what do you want, it is my dream. In a completely seperate dream, I recall Adriana Lima, but it had nothing to do with the Bills. -
Pat Williams looking for a place to play
Peter replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have a soft place in my heart for Pat and probably will be flamed for saying this, but I would at least bring him in to meet with him. If he can still play 10-20 downs a game or in critical short yardage situations and we can sign him for a reasonable amount, I would not be disappointed. He could be a great mentor for some of our young guys. One thing to consider is that I presume that he is going to have to serve his suspension now. That probably will factor into all of this. In the end, I do not expect the Bills to sign him though. I do wish that he had played for the Bills these past several years. Letting him leave was one of the worst decisions the Bills ever made. Not only was he good, he loved playing for the Bills and living in Buffalo. -
We shall see, but I disagree. Keep in mind that, under the deal that is about to end, the size of the pie that the owners share with the players and the size of the pie that the owners share with each other are different -- creating a disadvantage for small market teams relative to the big market teams. If that continues, it will more difficult for the small market teams -- both on the field and in terms of keeping teams in small markets. Time will tell.

A few quick observatons: 1. Judge Doty always rules in favor of the NFLPA and against the owners. At one point, I think that the owners tried to get him recused. As an aside, it is interesting that he would issue his ruling just before the CBA expires. I thought that I had heard that he was going to wait to let the parties negotiate until the CBA expires. 2. I typically do not care which group of millionaires makes more money. I do care about how the result will impact the Buffalo Bills and the Bills' staying in Buffalo. The owners and Tags negotiated a bad deal for the owners and a bad deal for small market teams the last go round. If I recall correctly, one of the problems is that the amount of money that served as the basis for applying the players' percentage was an amount higher than the money available for revenue sharing. I am glad that the owners woke up and opted out. Whatever the resulting deal is this time around, I hope that this is a good deal for the small market clubs. It is more likely in my mind that such a deal is more probable if the owners get what they want out of these negotiations. Again, I just want a deal that is good for Buffalo and the Buffalo Bills (and the other small market teams).

Great job. Thank you very much.

I am not going to get into the politics of this. I just wanted to comment on Lara Logan. I have a friend from SA who knew her in passing. Because of that, I have followed her career. She is an amazing war correspondent. "Intrepid" certainly describes her. When I heard the news, I felt horrible for her and her family -- regardless of the specifics of what happened. I hope she is doing well and wish her the best.

I always liked her on Friday Night Lights.
