I hear what you are saying and I also have questions about him and the others. Yet, of all the QBs, Barkley intrigues me the most. While he does not have Dan Marino's arm, I have heard/read scouts say that his arm is fine. Presuming that to be the case, I think he is a good kid with a high football IQ who showed a ton of leadership at USC. He could have left them in his rearview mirror last year and probably would have been a top five or 10 pick. Instead, even with all the BS swirling around the program and no financial incentive to stay, he came back for his senior season.

That makes sense as long as the Bills have a conviction about one or the other. If they do not (I do not), I really hope that they do not waste the 8th pick in the draft just so people on this board, WGR, and Jerry Sullivan can say that the Bills drafted a QB with the 8th pick in the draft.

Does Big Pat still live in Buffalo? I seem to recall that he had a business upgrading cars and that he still maintained a home in Buffalo for at least a period of time.

. . . or maybe, that is what the Bills want others to think. At this time of year, who knows what teams really think about particular players. I read the same article a moment ago. It could very well be that the Jets like Nassib. Nassib even said last week that the Jets interest in him seemed to be higher than the Bills. The Jets also have that Sanchez contract to deal with.

Bills already making calls to TRADE DOWN
Peter replied to ChanOverChin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There would be that benefit. I guess we would have to take the good with the bad. -
Both of those guys went way before they should have gone. They are good examples of what can happen when you reach. Ponder would have been a nice second round pick. At 12, too high. Locker was picked, as I recall, at 8 -- the same pick we have. I bet if the Titans had to do it all over again, they would not have picked him at 8. I just hope we do not have the same feeling about whom we pick (whoever it is) a year from now, two years from now etc..

Bills already making calls to TRADE DOWN
Peter replied to ChanOverChin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All of these QBs scare me at 8. As for Landry Jones, it kind of would depend on when they took him. As a mid round pick, I would not be upset. If the Bills stick to what I presume their board is, they will not be taking a QB at 8. Having said that, I can see them reaching for one of these guys given all of the hysteria on WGR and the Buffalo News and some of the vocal fans. One thing I know, whatever they do, they are going to be criticized. If they do not take a QB with the 8th pick, Howard Simon, Jeremy White, and Jerry Sullivan might spontaneously combust. If they do take a QB, they will be criticized for reaching and/or taking the wrong one. For example, if they take Barkley, I am sure that all the Cuse guys and the guys who love to hate USC (and USC QBs) will whinge. Man, whatever they do, I just hope it works out for us. My own preference is that the Bills stick to their board and/or trade back (if they can get good value). If the Bills have some confidence in Kolb, he gives them the luxury of not having to reach. Having said all that, Barkley intrigues me. He may have the most QB smarts. Nassib also seems like a football player with some smarts. Both guys impressed me on the Gruden QB camp. They also have their presumed deficiencies. Jones seemed ok as well. Geno scares me. If they pick him, I hope they are confident he can run a pro offense and some of these rumors are dead wrong. This is a tough draft to evaluate. I do not envy Buddy or whoever is going to have to pull the trigger. I also think it is going to be a long, stressful wait between the 8th pick (if we stay there) on Thursday and our second round pick on Friday. Just my two cents. -
That is serious. His comment wasn't.

To quote Stevie - Why so serious?

One day, Kate Upton's child will be able to say the same thing. -
UB bball coach Reg fired - Bobby Hurley, ex of Duke, hired
Peter replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Side note: There is a great documentary on HBO called Prayer for the Perfect Season about St. Patrick's high school in New Jersey. I will not go into detail, but Bobby Hurley's dad, Bob, is part of the documentary. He coaches St. Anthony's, which is a HS basketball powerhouse. Bob Hurley is one of the few HS basketball coaches that is in the basketball hall of fame. -
Well said.

Bills officially sign QB Kevin Kolb
Peter replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Did you see the shot that knocked him out against the Bills? Glass is hardly the word that I would use to describe his toughness. I did not envy any QB playing behind that Cards offensive line. -

I also think that this is a good move. The guy has some talent and he really did show some heart behind that awful Cardinal offensive line. He definitely is worth a shot. The added benefit is that the Bills do not have to reach in any round for a QB. They can stick to their board. If there is a QB available that they have rated highly enough to pick where they pick in any particular round (whether it be the first, second . . . or any other round), they Bills can pick him. If not, move on and pick the best player available. -
Gilmore has something to tell us
Peter replied to Captain Hindsight's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Isn't that the NHL trade deadline? Gilmore must be a die hard Sabres fan. -
If I read correctly, using the crown of the helmet is prohibited for both offensive and defensive players in the open field. Can you hold a workshop on how to name links. For some reason, I do not know how to do that any longer even though I used to be able to do so.

Ryan Fitzpatrick - QB - Tennessee Titans
Peter replied to MClem06's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It will be interesting to compare the money to what the Bills were offering him. -
Cannot believe the lack of respect for Jake Long....
Peter replied to Dibs's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You are correct. If they cannot protect the QB, Mike Wallace's speed is not going to make a huge amount of difference. -
I did not realize that free agency was over.

DeadSpin - Convo Between Nix and Tampa GM
Peter replied to Jauronimo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That is funny. Someone else was complaining that he has no plan. The Buddy Bashers like to have it both ways. -
Love it. P.S. What is the over and under on the time when we hear that the Titans have signed Levitre.
