  1. I love Bill Polian and Ralph's firing him was one of the worst mistakes in Buffalo Bills history. Nevertheless, some of his comments do not make any sense - particularly that bit about an old, unathletic offensive line. Me too. Much of the time, it is the loudest people who carry on the crusades here and in the Buffalo media. Although it would have been nice to have a better draft pick, one of the main reasons why I am so happy that we beat the Jets in the last game is so that the anti Rex crusaders could not spend the whole off season saying that the Jets went to the playoffs because Rex was no longer their coach (of course, forgetting to mention that they upgraded their defensive backs and QB etc.).
  2. RIP Ted. You brought a lot of enjoyment to me, my family, and friends with the offense that you developed for the Bills.
  3. Actually no, he did not. Relative to the rest of the league, we finished just about the same (18th v. 19th draft position). I also would not count the Pats "win" last year. In the end, we had a lot more injuries in 2015 than 2014 (particularly on defense) and also had Mario on strike for most of the season P.S. I revised this post to reflect the relative draft positions for 2014 and 2015. My initial recollection was 19th for both years.
  4. Doug Marrone must have opted out.
  5. Actually, it was a compliment. I presume people will be occupied watching the game. The timing made sense to me.
  6. More like a crusade against them and Rex . . . .
  7. FWIW, Ralph did threaten to move to Seattle way back when. If the Pegulas did not step up to the plate and pay what they did, we could still be reading about the possibility of the Bills moving to LA rather than the Rams, Chargers, of Raiders.
  8. Very smart to coincide with the National Championship game.
  9. I have NO idea why people are bitching about this. I am fine with this.
  10. I know where you are coming from based on how I felt after some of the Bills losses in the playoffs and in particular the four Super Bowl losses and the Titans game - those losses stung so much more. It also must have stung that much more given the way the Steelers got in position for the field goal.
  11. I have 100% confidence in both the Pegulas and Rex.
  12. I like Gilmore and he will get paid. Nevertheless, it seems to me that Sully and Vic are going out of their way to stir the pot. Sully re TT at the end of season PC (as he previously had done with Fitz) and now Vic with SG.
  13. Shefter reported that the Dolphins hired their first choice Doug Marrone, but St. Doug opted out of the contract he signed moments earlier so that he could work on bringing peace to the Middle East. Despite St. Doug's spurning the Dolphins, Shefter reports that Marrone is number one on the lists of each team that has a coaching vacancy - present and future - in the NFL, NHL, NBA, and EPL.
  14. Didn't Rex and Pettine reach out to each other to have joint practices?!? Moreover, they were very warm and complimentary of each other last Summer. Clearly, their relationship is ok.
  15. I think you are on to something. It is disappointing that players (at least some) did not put in the work to learn the defense. It also did not help there many players who had gotten first team reps ended up getting injured forcing back ups to get starter minutes. I am confident that the defense will be just fine in 2016.
  16. If I were looking for an agent, I would hire Jimmy Sexton (St. Doug's agent). Sexton seems to be able to make chicken salad out of chicken . . . . .
  17. On one hand I feel sorry for Vic, on the other: 1) He has changed since he came back - not for the better; 2) He has gotten so many things wrong; 3) He should already have learned that his source is no good (to the extent that there is a source); 4) If he had any familiarity with the Pegulas, he SHOULD HAVE KNOWN ON HIS OWN WITHOUT A SOURCE that this is not the way they operate and his report was directly contrary to the public statement just a few days ago.
  18. I agree. This also does not sound like the Pegulas at all. They think long term and strategically. They are not rash. This report is very different from the press release just a few days ago: “As our first full season as owners of the Buffalo Bills draws to a close, management, coaches, players and fans all feel that our expectations were not met,” said Pegula. “Kim, Russ and I look forward to working and collaborating with Doug Whaley and Rex Ryan in forming a winning future for the organization. Our management team and coaching staff are very capable and work well together. This stable foundation is necessary to achieve long term success in the NFL.” It is entirely possible that Vic is being played or something else is going on. I just don't buy this report.
