  1. He certainly has. One of my favorites was not taking a QB from California or Florida. Jim needs to think before speaking. As an aside, Rex has supported Jim's charity the past two years. I would not be surprised if Rex finds something else to do rather than take the whole team to Batavia for the golf tournament. We get it. Rex could cure cancer and it would still be a negative for you and some others because he did not do it soon enough.
  2. This thread is merely yet another attempt to push an anti Rex narrative. This one is more blatant than most. Rex did not throw Clay under the bus and Rex never said the sentence that begins: "It's a shame . . . ." Ugh.
  3. Jim is either drinking the Vic Carruci kook-aid or was his source. Anyone who has any familiarity with the Pegulas knows that it is not their style to fire someone for merely not making the playoffs after year two.
  4. Is Shady supposed to talk with a writer (Bucky) from the newspaper who took the position that he should be cut before Bucky/TBN knew all the facts?
  5. It is sad how so many threads on this site devolve into the same subject where the usual suspects miss the irony of their complaining that Rex is a blow hard. Rather than waste my time and yours, I will just incorporate my prior posts defending Rex. Carry on with your circular firing squad.
  6. Yet another reason why I want the Bills (and Sabres) to do well . . . .
  7. I believe that part of the talk is that they are responding to the negativity and the questions that are posed to them. They feel compelled to defend themselves. I have no problem with that. I love Derek Jeter. On the other hand, guys like Jim Kelly and Bruce Smith were never shy about letting everyone know just how good they thought they were. I met Jim Kelly when he first started playing with the Bills. Let me say this: He is a much nicer guy now than he was then. That is to his credit. As an aside, whenever I have heard/read Rex or Rob speak about Bill Belichick for example, they always go out of their way to say what a great coach he is. I have read many Pats fans making this observation on their message boards as well how much they respect Rex and that they do not perceive that Rex makes excuses when his team loses. As for Bowles v Rex, all I know is that Rex's team beat them twice . . . and in the second game, the Jets had EVERYTHING to play for.
  8. Exactly. Moreover, that year had a TON of injuries and a player who went on strike.
  9. It is not correct to state that "Jets fans got tired of it . . . ." Some fans, yes. Nevertheless, I know plenty of Jets fans (including my uncle and cousins) who were upset when he got fired and continue to wish that he still coached the Jets.
  10. Given that I believe that the Ryan brothers are good guys and their "army" has quite a different demographic, I see them as repelling Picket's (I mean Belichick/Brady's) charge and leading us to victory. One can hope.
  11. Yes. I hope Kromer vacations elsewhere and it does not involve beach chairs.
  12. Sadly, there were many who complained and wanted to get rid of Lincoln as well. It is a good thing we stuck with him.
  13. Well said. This is football. It is a tough game. I would rather that our coaches and players have confidence and believe in themselves. A few observations: (1) The threads that turn into Rex bashing threads bring out the "usual suspects" who presumably do not realize the irony of their criticizing Rex for supposedly being a blow hard. (2) Do you really think that what Rex or Rob said is going to give Belichick any more motivation to beat us. We have been embarrassed plenty of times by the Pats over the years with coaches of varying personalities. Oh, by the way, those complaining about this presumably ignored the part when Ryan said Belichick is the best coach in the history of the league. (3) I suspect that those who take the lead in bashing our head coach are card carrying members of the Bucky and Sullen fan club (or Bucky or Sullen themselves). (4) I suspect that the people who are so negative are (like sports radio and negative people on twitter) in the minority even though they tend to be the loudest and post/call/tweet most often. (5) I hope that we (as a fan base) continue to support our team, coaches, and ownership. As I mentioned in another post, negativity breeds negativity. TBN (or at least some of the writers for TBN) and some here keep pushing their negative agenda no matter what the subject re the Bills or Sabres. There is a difference between being a realist and looking for the cloud in the silver lining. Go Bills! Just my two cents.
  14. I think people are making up stories. Rex and Doug seem to get along just fine. This is kind of like Vic's supposed source who said that the Pegulas issued an ultimatum. One does not have to have an inside source (as Vic's said he had) to know that an ultimatum is not the Pegulas' style. This is complete BS in my opinion. Yes, it was. If memory serves me correctly, it was even discredited by one of Vic's colleagues at TBN (either Ty Dunne or TG)
  15. Some people here at TBD and in the media will not be happy unless Rex and Rob are the Debbie Downers that many in the media are. (There is a difference between being realistic and being so negative that you search out the cloud in the silver lining). I have no problem with our head coach and other coaches having confidence and confidence in our team. I like the fact that they have personality. The alternative is to have a personality like Dick Jauron or Jerry Sullivan as head coach. Neither guy would be considered a leader of men. Other than Mario (who went on strike) and a back up tight end from the Jets, players seem to love playing for Rex. Rex and I similarly do not like being around negative people. That is why I don't participate here as much as I used to. If I want to get a daily dose of negativity and snark, I could do that by reading Bucky, Sully et al. Just my two cents.
  16. You must not have read the part where he said Belichick is the best coach in the history of the game: "And I have worked for Belichick, who is the best head coach in football, in the history of the game."
  17. I can't stand negative people either -- at home, work, TBD, or the Buffalo media. In my view: Negativity breeds negativity. There is a difference between being a realist and someone who simply wants to push a negative agenda.
  18. John, You have always treated the Bills/Sabres fairly. I cannot say that for some of you colleagues . . . .
  19. I am sure that they already were mentioned, but the two biggest ones in my mind (there are others obviously): 1) We never should have fired Bill Polian; 2) We never should have fired Wade Philips.
  20. I wonder if Sully and some here would feel better if Ragland had been our first round pick and Shaq our second round pick. Regardless, I am very happy with both our first and second round picks (as well as most of the others).
  21. How many fake accounts do Sully and Bucky have on this site?
  22. Sully probably wants to fire the Jags GM and HC now.
  23. This whole thing is silly. The guy has played with this injury. He is a top rated player - whether he went to Clemson, Alabama, or Erie County Community College. Most people had Shaq going before our pick and in some instances well before our pick. Picking him had everything to do with Shaq being a very, very good football player rather than Rex's supposed need to scratch his Clemson itch. For some people here or in the Buffalo media to suggest this is just silly. Didn't we draft CJ and Sammy (Jerry Butler or Perry Tuttle for that matter) before the Bills ever hired Rex or did Rex influence those picks as well?!?!
