  1. Really? I could have sworn I read somewhere his drop percentage is less than Colstons. Could be wrong on that.. Ill try to find the link.
  2. Are you sure he doesnt compete with Searcy? He plays both LB and SS on D. Are you saying he wont take playing time away from the kid? (that wasnt rhetorical btw) Basically there are a bunch of moving parts here. The cost of signing him. Kirk's cover skills. Searcy's progression. DW's scheming preferences... and much more. I heart says i'd like to have this guy back because he's a leader and plays hard wherever you put him. But my brain says he isnt a must sign unless its at a very good price.
  3. I was assuming he is going to want a multi year deal. Some money up front, that type of thing.
  4. I really like Scott. I especially like the fact he wants to be here. Not sure if resigning him is a smart choice. Id like Searcy to replace him.
  5. On the other hand, when you look across the league you see a lot of players who are signed to their rookie contracts and performing above and beyond. Draft picks allow teams to replenish their depth at a lower cost than free agency provides. (On the other other hand), you do need to make those picks count.
  6. by qualified and respected im assuming you mean everyone who agrees with you??
  7. I liked his "acceptance speech" during the signing press conference. In all seriousness though, at the end when he told his mom to -look at your son now, look at your son now- that was touching.
  8. Going by last years rookie salaries, i acyually think thats a very accurate assumption. They paid more actual cash last year to their draft picks than $15million (but this year they are picking 10th instead of 3rd) Im dying for some terms of contract. I wonder how long before they are disclosed.
  9. I just dont see the point of bringing in a guy for a one year term at a $14 million cap hit. He may just walk next year and then we lose out in the long run.
  10. Im glad to see him resigned. Hopefully we got a deal. I havent read thru the first two pages of this thread so if im repeating someone elses comment i apologize. I heard Stevie mention that when he was talking to other players like Kirk about signing somewhere else the issue of the "grass is NOT always greener on the other side" came up. Until then i didnt even know that this guy was looked upon as a lockerroom leader. For stevie to go pick his mind on something like upcoming free agency means he commands a bit of respect right? We need guys like this.
  11. Unless he doesnt pass a physical. In that case he wouldnt be guaranteed the $3mil. Stevies cap hit will be = his base salary next year (2.5) + amortized signing bonus (1.7) + bonuses (0.1) -->> $4.3 mil cap hit. Actual cash spent on Stevie's contract = base salary next year (2.5) plus signing bonus (8.5) + bonuses (0.1) -->> $10.8mil. At least thats how i see it.
  12. Florence cap number is $5 mil but you dont save all that by cutting him. (BTW, Someone should sticky all the salary cap threads.)
  13. Now THAT was funny. Well played... ...Mr Wire!
  14. I'd like to add that we all know how important a running game is to a teams success. For a team who blamed a lot on lack of depth last year.. It might not be the wisest move to diminish the teams greatest strength. If we trade Fred and Spiller goes down, there goes the season.
  15. Maybe I'm just too much of a fred jackson fan- but to me it looks like the giants come out way ahead on this one. Wouldn't it be better if the Bills just spent the money they'd have to give Osi on a free agent rusher and get to keep FJ as well?
  16. Since the word is that Peyton wont play in the NFC, that means we will most likely be facing Brady and Manning 4 times a year. Thats a quarter of the schedule right there and not amusing at all. Mario Williams might be the best way to counter Peyton going to Miami. (other than signing him ourselves of course) But as far as financially speaking... well thats a different story. I still dont believe its doable unless its the only free agent signing the Bills do. (Even then, regardless of the money, Williams will have the final say.)
  17. They couldve cut his foot into a million different pieces and put it back together with duct tape for all i care. As long as he keeps making progress which from all reports he is doing so. I see no reason to doubt he'll come back strong.
  18. He isnt going to sign an incentive laden contract for anyone, let alone the Bills. Not that i think Freeney is going anywhere anyway.
  19. As long as they get it done before the start of the season everyone comes out a winner.
