  1. for sure. Bills wont carry over though will they? I hope they do.
  2. Thanks. Its going to be interesting to see which teams carry over and how much. There are so many ways for teams to massage the cap its nuts.
  3. Yes. But i still dont think you will be able to understand. Wait..... can any of those words or terms be misinterpreted?? Nope, im good. Okay. Go.
  4. Do you know if they changed the way they calculate franchise tags in the new CBA? I thought it was now the top 10 players but i could be wrong. http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/3636/mario-williams <<--anyway, there you go bud. I dont know why its $23 million 2bh. Ive seen it all over the place. If im wrong then there are alot of bad sports writers floating around. The link i just posted is from rotoworlddotcom who sourced The Houston Chronicle. Both reliable sources imo. As for the specifics i cant help much... something to do with his cap hit from last year maybe?
  5. Yeah, I wouldnt be surprised if McKelvin had a solid year. Its that last year of his contract. He knows whats up if he wants a big payday.
  6. Awww..do you need a hug? Okay back to that whole thing about repercussions. If you are willing to face them than anything is possible. There is money to be saved from cutting players. Not resigning players. Veteran salary exemptions. Reconstructing the top players base salaries. An owner can write to the league and specify how much of last years unspent cap he wants to roll over to this year (not sure if the Bills qualify for this now). Trading away draft picks. Trading away players. CBA loopholes. But whatever you do you better free up about $15-$18 million in cash because thats what it looks like it will take to sign Williams. I used the word cant. It does seem to offend you. If the Bills were a team willing to get into bidding wars when signing free agents, and were in a position to make a final push to a championship it would be different. But as it stands now, given all the factors to consider, "cant" may not be as accurate as "probably not" but i do think its more honest.
  7. Hey that's rude! Haha Can you even find Canada on a map?
  8. Actually, I wasnt the one who said it, it was K-9. And he didnt say we couldnt, he said we wouldnt. And not only did i not say we couldnt.. i think i explained that we could if we didnt spend much money elsewhere. Maybe youre right and i do have a miserable attitude but i dont think so. I actually argued for both sides of the issue. Both for signing him and against. I just think i was being realistic. Do you think they will spend almost $20 mil. on SJ and VJ? Because that is what it will take.
  9. What i dont get is how the writer (if you want to call him that) writes a story without quoting Spiller or anyone else. Refers to a league source and then uses words/phrases like... ...things could get awkward. It’s unclear what Spiller will do.. ...it could become a problem. Spiller could react unreasonably. Uhhh, yeah and btw, the Bills COULD win the Super Bowl. Is this what its come down to? Anyway, i agree with you NoJustice, i dont think Spiller will cause any problem at all- he will just look to win the starter spot by trying to outplay Jackson; which works for me.
  10. You dont owe me an apology my friend, it was a simply misunderstanding. Ive done the same thing and probably been wrong a whole lot more often than you. Sure. Go to http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/ and have a look around. Www.rotoworld.com is good for contract details as well and updates frequently. Other than that i just read alot of nfl reports and try to catch a few updates on nfl network.
  11. The salary cap last year was $123,375,000. This year it is widely projected to be about $120,000,000. I have made plenty of posts about how numerous factors come into play when determining a teams cap space. You can circumvent the cap here and there which alot of teams do but its definitely possible to get a general sense of where each team is at. The Bills are about $25 mil under... nowhere near $35 million. Sorry.
  12. What? Where did you hear that they would be $35 million under the cap? Mario Williams at $10 million a year??? Try $16 million+ and thats if a bidding war doesnt get out of hand! Now its finally making sense as to why we arent agreeing on this subject... you have all your numbers wrong.
  13. Are you kidding me? Did you not see Gronk on the dance floor? There isnt a LB on the planet who can keep up with that footwork! Actually, i find this very interesting. Im interested in reading what the draft experts on this board have to say about it. (I dont know squat about the draft or draft prospects)
  14. Calm down buddy. I'll explain. Its not that signing both will put us over the cap. Its just that some of us realize that the Bills need to spend money elsewhere as well. You think i dont want to see the Bills resign everyone and sign free agents left and right? Its not being negative imo if you are just being honest. If you would rather see the Bills sign VJ instead of spending money on for example a DE thats fine. Im not the guy who is going to try to insult your opinion.. but dont insult others who are just being realistic okay?
  15. Yeah youre right. Good point. So if he doesnt pass the physical he is no longer guaranteed the base or bonus. But if he does then they have to keep him because he gets the money either way. He does also have a bunch of incentives that can be added bases on his performance but i doubt the Bills care about that because if he DOES play well then they'd be happy to pay him for it.
  16. On the other hand, there was a time when stevie was asking for only $7.5 mil remember? Yeah.. haha
  17. Rotoworld.com reports that Merriman's contract has $3 million of his second-year base salary guaranteed. If thats accurate you wouldnt gain very much by cutting him. You could cut Dwan Edwards and Spencer Johnson and save about $7 million though.
  18. I agree 100% with you. But it would be so good to have both guys! Who would BB double? I guess he would try to double both like he did to Cruz and Nicks... but we still have Fred! Nelson would sure see alot of 1 on 1 converage, thats for sure. I guess if the Bills decide to not sign anyone on defense they could go after VJ (10+ a year!) but personally i prefer they go after a top5 free agent defensive end. jmo.
  19. You arent missing much actually. I think you probably understand it pretty well, its just that when people start talking as if they are in dreamland it gets easy to confuse reality with make believe. The Jets are in cap trouble. They will have to try to reconstruct a couple of contracts. Luckily guys like Sanchez have come out and said they are willing to do that for the team. If guys arent- then they face the possibility of getting cut. With the new CBA the Jets might have some manuverability because i've heard that dead money from last year may not count against the cap in 2012? Not sure of the specifics. The Jets have over $8 million in dead money last time i checked so that may help them out. There are also some exemptions the league will make such as veteran salaries to help teams allocate their cash. If the Jets want Manning they will cut Sanchez. That will free up 9 million or close to that. But i guess they will have to cut more than if Manning signs for more. Bottom line is that the Jets wont end up with Manning. The Eagles are in a better situation as they are under the cap. While their top players make alot they save some money (compared to the bills) in the bottom half of their roster. With a roster of 50+ its surprising how a quarter mil here and half a mil there add up. But after all is said and done they are less than 20 million under the cap ANd they have to sign D.Jackson if they want him back. Compare that with the Bills who are $25 million under and have to sign S.Jackson. I hope that helps a little. Tracking the cap and the CBA is such a pain so i usually dont know much about either but i do know simple math which is why sometimes i get annoyed when posters talk about signing Mario Williams or going out to sign 3 of the best free agents. And then when Nix doesnt they whine and complain as if its Buddy Nix's fault they flunked grade two math.
  20. Heard it before but still, its good news and feels good to hear him reitterate his position on Fred.
  21. Hate to say it but.... youre offyourocker
  22. No. But the numbers just dont add up. Its reported that if they tag him it will cost in the 23 million dollar range. Theres no way they do it. They have said their top priority is resigning him but with a stacked Defense (that did great without him) and Cap Restrictions, they very well may let him walk even though im sure they dont want to.
  23. They really cant. Well... technically i guess you are right. If they want to they can go out and sign anybody. Probably trade for almost anybody also. My point is that realistically they just dont have the cap room. Unless you can cut about 16-18 million dollars worth of players currently on the roster. Yeah it can be done if they really wanted but somehow i just dont think its wise.
