  1. National Weather Service Reports from my area show us around 10 inches of snow that is covering the bit of ice we received the last 24 hours; it is snowing at a rate of one inch per hour. We are expected to receive 12-18 inches before it's all over but we may outpace that. Our city has shut down operations as of 7pm CT and forbid anyone from driving on the roads unless authorized personnel. The road cleanup crews are being given a chance to rest before attempting to clear the roads tomorrow at 3am CT. I work at a hospital and they converted a conference room to a large sleeping area with your basic cots (kind of reminds me of the scene from Revenge of the Nerds, where the future- Tri-Lambs are staying in the high school gym) for employees who don't want to go home or want to arrive early for work and need rest. On top of the snow falling is the issue of the power lines "galloping", where they sway in the wind due to the stress from heavy ice on them. The power has flickered here at home a few times and it would not surprise me if the power went out for an extended time. I'm concerned along Lake Erie as this storm, coupled with Lake Effect, would pack a mighty wallop to Buffalo and surrounding cities. Stay safe out there!
  2. I would call the Buffalo News and ask them about a purchase. I'd guess they've had similar inquiries and cannot imagine they would turn you down if it means a bit more revenue coming in.
  3. The ice has been falling (in the form of sleet, then freezing) for the last 90 minutes. We're expected to receive up to 12 inches of snow on top of the ice over the next day. I'm calling it SNOWMAGEDDON: The Return.
  4. This article from ESPN kind of slipped through the cracks this morning. It seems like Parcells & Co. had a totally different mindset heading into Super Bowl Week- arriving ASAP from San Fran and getting to work immediately on-site. On the other hand, it appears to me that Levy and the coaching staff may have taken for granted being in the Super Bowl (getting in late Monday night, missing the mandatory news conference due to preparations). This possible lack of preparation, coupled with the relaxed attitude of some players partying, seems to have been harmful to the Bills. I wonder if the outcome would have been different if they would have come in ready to work and put aside much of the celebration until after the game was over. Just curiosity on my part. I'm still proud of what the team accomplished during that era. Hard to believe it's been 20 years, though.
  5. Good to hear. Stevie says he is going to give away a gift or two since he won the vote. I think it was a Vizio TV or an autographed jersey... not sure.
  6. Worst singings, huh? How about these guys: Or someone in our division:
  7. I was getting ready to post another link when I saw this thread. I just finished reading the book a month ago after seeing the TV series a couple of years ago. He seemed to be a great man who was humble at the same time brave in his service. He made such a big difference in World War II. RIP Major Winters.
  8. Happy Birthday Beersphere. We're glad you're here.
  9. I second this comment. Our youngest son is now four months old. He;s just now starting to sleep through the night without waking up. Congratulations!
  10. Indeed, maybe closer to a half-ton though. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_a6fjmV4w0Lc/SUV5_C5nC8I/AAAAAAAAAkY/lGaO8M6GLcg/s400/tony-siragusa.jpg
  11. Nah, that has to be Rollie Fingers with Fitzmagic!
  12. I think it might be fun to go to the Cincinnati game if I could make it to one road game. It's about a 5 1/2 hour drive from where I am; KC is equal distance but that atmosphere might be too hostile. Plus, we're guaranteed a win against Cincy, right?
  13. I posted this site last year and I'll post it again so people can look at several mocks at once: DC Pro Sports Report
  14. What I find impressive (a sign he wants to play in Buffalo?) about Merriman is he has links on the front page of his web site to Buffalo Bills news and a picture or two of him in Bills gear. It may mean nothing but I hope it's a sign that he wants to play for the Bills and help them win in 2011.
  15. Paging 'nevergiveup': Do you have any info on Merriman's Tweet? And do you have any news/speculation as the off-season kicks into gear?
  16. Someone must have made a bit of money off mass-production of these songs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9s6lkPh9-aQ
  17. I was under the impression that the 'Big Ben' play was the play that Atlanta scored on- a pass from Steve Bartkowski to beat New Orleans in the Dome.
  18. Toad the Wet Sprocket was lifted from a Monty Python skit- "Rock Notes". Toad the Wet Sprocket is a band mentioned in the skit.
  19. I thought I heard about a plan to re-air this game one week from tomorrow night in the hopes of reaching a younger fanbase. With the lack of excitement in the game it surely would put kids to sleep early on Christmas Eve.
  20. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mWkAMJ-eMB4 I'll add some video evidence of this game.
  21. I was not impressed with Criqui's call yesterday. I, too remember when he was a good play-by-play man for NBC 20-25 years ago. He and Bob Trumpy always seemed to be calling the AFC Central games. Criqui did make me laugh at some point in the second half. He had a little banter going with James Brown back in the CBS studio when they would pitch to Brown for scoring updates. When Brown pitched back to the Bills game, Criqui- in setting the location of their game- announced "We are in the BUF!" A frightening thought on any occasion when taken out of context.
  22. I feel the same way! I've had my Sirius subscription since September 2005 and I feel spoiled by having it. I won't listen to the radio in my area except for local sports. The commercial-free music is great for traveling and the NFL games give me a chance to hear the Bills if I can't watch them on TV (generally tough here in Central Illinois but I have Sunday Ticket for the second half of the season).
  23. May wanna warn people that the language is NSFW.
  24. The League is one of my favorite shows on TV. The first season was more about the core group of guys in the league. Definitely check out the first season if you can (Netflix? or DVD). For season two they've expanded with more cameos from NFL players.
  25. ESPN's profile of Tony Washington from August.
