Look, for Whaley, to start dumpster diving for TE's and guards when final cuts start. The Bills may be competing with the hoody for serviceable tight ends this season. If Hairston starts the season on the PUP list add a right tackle too for depth. Sometimes it works. Even if Chandler is healthy though, his blocking is sub-par.

Brad Smith Renegotiates Contract
Best Player Available replied to uncle flap's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No, I was referring to a comment that maybe now he would become a legit receiver. I don't think he ever will. Someone along the way would have seen his potential. As for a veteran role model, well I guess he's been around long enough. But do huge ego(I'm guessing at least one will be) rookies want to listen to a guy that really is a role player? i don't know.Honestly he has such limited time as a receiver in Buffalo I have no idea how good a route runner he even is. If he makes the final 53 one would guess he will be buried on the depth chart, a ST teams player (which last year he rarely came out of the end zone). He did take on to the house granted. But getting back to someones comment that he has the potential like CJ to bust one every time he has the ball. No, I do not see that. In the end sure keep him this is a team starved for anyone that can make a play. I doubt we will see the wildcat (thankfully). -

Legit receiver? here are his receiving stats after 7 years Brad Smith --- 7years in the league --- 101 receptions --- 949 yards ---5 TD's. Most legit WR's do their damage way before starting year 8. -
Byrd Skipping mandatory mini-camp

Which each and every post you make less and less sense. And honestly show what little if any knowledge you have about football. As for free safety position you understand nothing. That is certain. Now I understand why some have you on ignore. Get off your soapbox you make zero sense, and pollute peoples opinions. Jarius Byrd last year was far and away one of if not the biggest contributor. And please post some video of him "mailing it in". -
eBay feedback funny business.
Best Player Available replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I have been on E-bay almost since the beginning. Back then you could actually buy very cool things especially vintage, collectable, etc. at great prices. They morph their business model constantly. As you probably already know feedback is now just a rolling 12 month deal. So sellers getting a few negatives see them disappear 12 months later. Also, in the past if you did say 40 deals with a seller only the first feedback counted. And, for any reason a seller could give you a neg if say you didn't leave them positive feedback. Those days are gone. I think in your deal. In the end you never actually completed a transaction since you got the refund. That little thingy is right in their software model and is automatic. The reasoning is you were out NO cash even though they sent you crap twice. -

In the real world he probably is worth a first. In this thread, some feel he is worthless and lucky to be even offered the tag. One has to think that Whaley has to have received at least once call as to a sign and trade when that was possible. So, is this scenario possible? We (the FO) won't pay him top 3 at his position. But if you want him, then we want compensation based on him being the best FS in 2012. -
A bit off topic but is a Lamen related to a Ramen?

Aaron Rodgers to give up salary for the year?
Best Player Available replied to NoSaint's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Aaron should have used the discount double check. And, he knows it. -
Now that's funny. With your permission I'm stealing it.

I think your thought is very plausible. Last year they went all in and threw away big bucks on 2 DE's thinking they were ready to at least get a wildcard. This year is the honeymoon period for Marrone and company. Rookie QB, rookies everywhere. And of course Nix's defensive players he drafted on the cusp of irrelevance. I would expect a new ST coach in 2014 though. It feels too much like a crony hire, and he well sucked on his last NFL stop.

renegotiate a contract and won't be cut or traded? I've been there. Regards, Lee Evans -

for reasons unknown I believe you are correct. I learned all that reading just this one thread. Funny how some keep posting hearsay claiming he wants 9 mil per. Of course asking for a link from say OBD and you get crickets...... In the end it's a tough time being a 4 year starter and being good at your position (A rarity for drafted players in Buffalo). -

The money they pissed away on mark Anderson most likely exceeds the difference between Byrd and the Bills. Ditto on fritz. But no problem paying Mckelvin 20 million more on a new contract He is not a good corner. Brad Smith must laugh when he cashes his game day checks. But hey lets keep arguing about byrds worth at FS. And get excited about the first round bust they swapped for sheppard. And believe magically he's going to be all world now. Good chance he starts day one along with McKelvin and Aaron Williams. That is the sign of poor FO management. leaving a open LG spot and signing mediocre talent to replace him with Kolb and a rookie QB and needing to keep both upright for 16 games is all I need to see as proof that Whaley is no more than equal to Nix as a GM. To think this will be a good defense with those players and ridicule the worth of Byrd is why the Bills fanbase continues to support medicore (at best) product year after year. And gets all hyped during the offseason that next year is the one. Nothing short of new ownership will stop this. maybe marrone is the next Bill Walsh. Problem is Bill Walsh had talent. The Bills have hope and not much else. The Byrd fiasco is proof the ship has no rudder, when they pass out 8 million for a single sack and 12 tackles. Then cut the guy before camp. No matter what scheme they run a good DE is always valuable. Nix set this team back to square one and the funny thing is he is still employed in whatever capacity. Hope for the best but prepare for the worst. Any NFL team that could start McKelvin and Aaron Williams is not going to be a good defense. Mediocre maybe. But even that I guess is an improvement over last year. -

9er's poor safety play aside. Which did hurt them. They may have lost the game because of coaching. Hand off the rock to Gore three straight chances and they win. The goal line play calling was bad at the end. -
Asking for a raise today. Who's got tips?
Best Player Available replied to The Big Cat's topic in Off the Wall Archives
During the SF area high tech heyday. The norm was to go across the street secure an offer for 15% above what your making and lay it on the circular desk at the appropriate moment. Don't know how well that statergry works anymore though. -
Byrd Skipping mandatory mini-camp
Best Player Available replied to mitchmurraydowntown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Doubtful, simply read the reasons a tagged player won't come into camp. Injury! it's been discussed over and over here. The FO cannot do anything contractually until after the season anyways, except another one year deal. Byrd has zero reason to come in and possibly get hurt before the bullets fly.... This is all that's wrong with the franchise tag. -

Best Player Available replied to mitchmurraydowntown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The funny thing about comments like these, are if Byrd would have accepted and signed say a slightly below market offer. Which is probably what they offered. He would have been talked about on this very board as A top 3 safety in his prime signed for years. And here comes the SB! What a stud and he's homegrown. Yea, Jarius! Now, we get everything from Aaron Williams will be better (kid you not). To FS just like LG are not important positions in today's NFL. May be so. So lets save the cash and overpay a fan favorite and slightly better than average center? Knowing the Bills that could happen. BTW I really like Wood. What's everyone going to say when they (and they could) low ball Spiller because in today's NFL running backs are not a hot commodity. It's a passing league after all with big young QB's playing the read option. Who needs a high priced waterbug? The new CBA allows to draft rookies and pay them peanuts Prepare for it, especially if Spiller doesn't grab 2,000+ all purpose yards for the next two years. If the Bills are contenders because of Spiller I see a huge payday. If the bills still suck after 2014. Anything can happen. The blaming Byrd stuff is getting old. He's class and unlike 'Lil Donte kept his trap shut this entire offseason. -
Understood, I felt your comment was pointing me out directly. I am outspoken about OBD. But, every year (except a few) I am hoping for the turnaround. This year is certainly no different. To get back on topic. I am a huge fan of analytics, and statistical odds use, etc. For awhile I lived in Ducks country and saw their benefits in the college game. I'll even go out on a limb and say Kelly will go for 2 after the eagles first td at home this season. because statistically the odds are he will get the 2 points. Different than analytics I know.Go Bills.

Well, obviously there are 2 groups. First, An insult too "those of you who live to beat us down". Really? That's funny. One can assume I fall into that group since you responded to my post. So you're insinuating people get enjoyment or look to "beat you down"?sadly, another poster taking a board way to seriously.Personally, since you aimed your post at me. I had never even thought of it. And really don't have the time to even care. Everyone is entitled to an opinion though. No need to insult. Your memory is short because last year I agreed with a lot of your posts. I can care less what anyone posts on a fan forum. When I can I read them all. I post what I feel plus or minus on the Bills. My first game was the home opener in 64. I was a very young kid. Had season tickets for decades even though a lot of them go unused or given away. If i want to post something about the CEO (or whatever) being part of a long standing problem I will. If i want to post about Woods possibly being the best receiver picked in a decade I will. Alanoso great pick. Buddy Nix sucked. All my opinions. Why do you think people are waiting to beat you down? It's an anonymous fan board maybe you're attacked but not by me. Although, i don't jump in every year with blind optimism anymore, aside from posts that constantly blame fans (or their opinions) about a until proven otherwise irrelevant NFL franchise. One poster responds to every grammatical mistake I make or sometimes a number I throw in purposely wrong. Fun to watch his responses like clockwork. I have never responded to one of his attacks. He's to immature. That's my only involvement past reading and responding to threads. But apparently, you seemed to break it out in 2 distinct categories. People who speak their mind either positive or negative and the persecuted fan that is beat down. Never saw it that way. Everyone's opinion and a buck will get them a cup of 7-11 coffee. None of them carry more/less weight. Unless you yourself want them too. Out.
