IMO a full week off given the state of play of this team, yes, was too much.

They have months on end and tons of money to travel the world, after our season ends, which as a direct result of the state of play of this team will likely be in just over five weeks from now.

Who cares what other teams do.  Do you?

Otherwise, sorry that you disagree with me.

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's not really a rumor. In 2021, he was investigated for something that wasn't disclosed and the DA decided not to try the case. He was a Broncos player at the time and the investigation was done in Colorado. I know that Bengals players get away with A LOT because the Hamilton County DA is a season ticket holder.

"rumors and rumblings" was the poster's term and I was responding to him, unless he has 2 accounts here?

That version of himself, yes. We may have only seen that version 3-4 times ever though? Because his physical talent is the greatest the league has ever seen, him playing at his best would naturally be the best QB the league has ever seen. I believe his play against the Eagles was that version of himself.

We first saw it on the final game of his rookie year, home vs. Miami

There have always been rumors and rumblings of him being an entitled jerk to people. Nothing I can quote from an article or anything. I know he was investigated for something a couple of years ago that was dropped. And I know at least two women have claimed to be his baby mama, with one flat out calling him a deadbeat.

I'd hate to be a defendant in your court of rumors and rumblings, yikes!

But seriously, sucks if the rumors become validated...

I'd argue it's probably a bit higher.  Many of these players have been protected from consequences a fair amount of times. Add in the money they have that can both open the door to more opportunities to make poor decisions and give them an out to buy their way out of trouble.

Johnny Factory Worker assaults his spouse, he's going to jail. Super speedy NFL WR does the same and gets a record setting contract.

Oh I didn' t mean the percentage of folks who get caught or "revealed", I meant the percentage of scumbags who would lay hands on a woman for any reason other than self defense.

Not saying he is guilty and not saying this directly about Von, but it's a really solid reminder that the players you see in front of the camera talking in pressers and interacting with fans and so forth are often a result of presenting the right image. I would go as far to say there is a shockingly large percentage of players, coaches and even owners that are scumbag human beings when no one is looking.

Probably the same percentages that exist in the rest of society, yup

  7. I love you @Shaw66 and you make some great points here and always, but “ It starts with me “ which is something my leadership organization uses in our accountability discussions, is intended to mean “ It starts and ends with me” as in “ The Buck stops here” or I am responsible for the construction, expectations and output of my team as the leader of said team. It’s highly unlikely McD, who preaches accountability as much as Mike Tomlin does in his list of priorities, uses it as a way to excuse himself from the results.

Did anyone confirm this part? curious tbh

He stacks him right at the 13 which is when Allen lets the ball go, post is an easier throw/catch vs zero than corner

there's no leverage once DBs hips flip

I felt like it was visually obvious that the Cb had inside position on the play.

I would agree with you that the post is the easier throw and catch outside of the positioning.

We need DTs too. Possibly 3 of them as Ed is the only one under contract.  He played almost the entire game on Sunday.  There were time where he was just taking up space because he was so tired.

Center is also a possibility if Morse steps away.

    WR #1 priority- I agree.

Pass rush #2A as floyd, AJ and Shaq are FA’s.  Will likely need to sign/draft 2, maybe 3 DE’s.

DT #2B- daquan, settle and JP all FA.

I agree with all this. 1 Question though... Why would Morse step away?

I dont have the stomach to rewatch the play again.. but its more davis' fault, than allens, or joe's.

Allen made the correct read on the zero blitz, but davis didnt. only thing allen couldve done better was to tell the wideouts what to expect during presnap.

davis could have read the defense himself and saw the opportunity for it what it was, but he didnt.

id be surprised if they hadnt practiced this exact scenario in the past but idk anymore with how poorly this team plays.

joe is slightly at fault for not putting diggs where davis was, or anyone else for that matter.

in the end, it falls on davis, he wasnt prepared.

and i am prepared for him to gtfo asap

it's not "more Davis' fault though. Why? Because the corner had inside leverage, so outside is the correct option read by Davis.

Am I freaking out at Allen over this split second decision? No

Would I like to see Brady implement some shorter/quicker "zero blitz" options for the WR's on plays like this? Yes

I can see how this is the counter argument.. and maybe some fans would have done that.. but the fact that the announcers, not even us fans, Romo and Nantz were just casually discussing what Allen will look to do in those 20 seconds before kneeling it lends credence to the fact the common reaction was confusion and jaw-drops when we saw him line up for the kneel.

Furthermore, if anyone is like me, the entire house was screaming at McDermott for using that timeout to ice the kicker.

I have to disagree with you.  I think we all were ready to live or die with our franchise QB who was dismantling the Eagles Defense all day over a Head Coach making decisions given his track record.

I agree on the ice the kicker timeout. That was wasted. Still, not firing the guy over it... Just (as an owner maybe?) trying to ensure he doesn't try to ice a kicker in that same situation going forward.

  12. The FACT on this is that if we had gone for the gusto and tried to get into FG range in the 20 seconds and Josh threw a pick, almost every poster here who is mad that he took the conservative approach in the sideways wind and rain would have the exact opposite take, and would be ranting about how stupid it was. Book it, Bank it.... Ain't nobody can tell me otherwise. That's how it works here, just like that's how it works on radio talk shows (only certain types of people call into those).

I would have liked to see them try to get in FG range myself, but the contrary is certainly not a 'fire the coach' last straw type of event.

I can't wait to see all the phony disagree and thumbs down emojis from y'all liars.

    We talked about this earlier

I hated kneeling down for exactly this reason...I always want to be aggressive in these situations. I would have said the same if Allen threw a pick six in both Lions and Eagles games

the right choice is the right choice regardless of outcome

To the bolded, that's great for you but unfortunately most others here would flip 180 degrees and say we should have taken it to OT if an Allen pick happened. We know how this goes.

btw I agree we should have been aggressive there with 20 sec... But its not a fire-able situation

  14. You appear to be asking what folks think will happen vs what folks want to happen ...

    With that said:

If we finish above .500, McD will be here next season, playoffs or not. IMO.

(And I do think that's right bc one more season has been earned with division titles, playoff qualifying seasons and some playoff wins, and because continuity wins with far more regularity than a shake up even though they are "sexy")

This team has is all.  And then it doesn’t.  It’s such a roller coaster of inconsistency and KILLING themselves with colossal mental gaffes.  Committing penalties, drops, running the wrong routes, coaching blunders, missed kicks and injuries.  We just can’t get out of our own way. On top of that, terrible officiating.  There’s some sort of peculiar cosmic force causing this madness.

I think we have about a 30% chance to make the playoffs.  Unlikely, but I do think there’s a chance that we can run the table or maybe just one loss.  Almost all the teams we’re competing against for the playoffs have backup QBs.  And that’s why McD should be fired if we don’t make the playoffs.

If James cook catches the TD.   If gabe and Josh were on the same page.  If we threw the ball to Dalton Kincaid in the second half.  If Tyler bass didn’t choke.  If we don’t have 12 men on the field. if the refs didn’t suck. If we didn’t…..we can go on and on.  Each of our losses would’ve been wins if the fortunes of 1 or 2 plays would’ve been different.  Sucks for Mcdermott.  He’s a good coach.  If we miss the playoffs I don’t think Pegs and Beane will fire him, but they should.

While it doesn’t seem to be our year…..we can beat anybody on any given Sunday.  I still have hope that this could be an epic season.

Well said, especially on the multitude of reasons why these things keep happening. Much more accurate with actual verifiable reasons and referenced events than what 90% of Bills mafia yesterday and today are citing.

  16. What I want to know and none of us seem to be able to figure out is - Why is that 59 yd FG in the wind and rain ALWAYS going to be good against us? Home or Away, it happens over and over and over again. Kickers make their career best FG in dire conditions no less. We knew it (my family and I ), you knew it, everyone knew it was going to be good! WHY?????? They might as well have tried a 70 yarder! That FG had no business going through and its game over!  .... and if its not a FG make its some rando WR making the best catch of his career over one of our guys. Every time... smh

  17. The "Eye in the sky" refs that they've already added work great at quickly and efficiently making corrections to the types of plays they are allowed to comment on (ie. possession, out of bounds/in bounds, etc.). The best possible thing that could happen is to expand the allowable corrections from the eye in the sky refs to include any type of play (ie. reverse a horrible DPI call, or a head shot that was really a shoulder to shoulder, etc.).

This is the best and simplest "fix" they could possibly implement.

  18. From the stands, on the 81 Yd TD play to Shakir, it appeared to be quite an impressive "baiting" of the Jets defense by Allen. They moved Diggs into the slot and I feel like the Jets thought they had us with a gotcha! It wasn't Sauce in coverage across from Diggs and it sure seemed like they wanted to bait us into a throw over in that direction into their zone, where they'd likely have 2 guys near the throw with a chance to make a play. Instead, post snap, Josh takes an extended look in that direction, then looks at Kincaid quickly (who opened up the seam for Shakir) then right over to Shakir with the strike, and the gotcha! came in our favor. Great manipulation (I thought) by Josh on the play. I wonder also how much prep goes into a play like that between QB and OC or if its just where Josh is in his game right now. Thoughts, @HoofHearted ?

He's good but they were playing the Jets.

It's all season that folks, and PFF are talking about.

He's been quite a bit better than expected, while certainly still getting caught out of position at times in coverage (PFF doesn't really grade coverage well on a consistent basis).

And then....there's TB. Almost none of us thought he'd be this good. Great instincts... Wow.
