They drafted Cody Ford in the second, Dion Dawkins in the second, Torrence in the second, Spencer Brown in the third, signed Mitch Morse to the top 7 center contract in the NFL, Nick Broeker in the 7th, Luke Tenuta in the 6th, Tommy Doyle in the 5th, Jack Anderson in the 7th, Wyatt Teller in the 5th, signed Daryl Williams to a 3 years $24M deal, signed Quinton Spain, signed John Feliciano, signed Roger Saffold.

You could argue that's "refusing to draft olinemen," and thus a reflection on not wanting to run the ball, but you'd be wrong.

They also have a pretty decent "top half" kinda O-line this year, that is going largely unnoticed through the tornado around it.

Only info that is allowed to be shared is. We end up in the dark all the time.

Does anyone actually know what Milano’s and DqJ’s injury situation is? The WGR guys seem content not to know. Crazy.

The Bills don't leak information since Beane and McD took over, especially PII (personal medical related information). This is a good thing.

I believe if you look at it one of the stats that have passed the test of time is that teams that lose the turnover battle lose games.

And yes, other people make mistakes and are held accountable.  Josh should be no different.

I don't think anyone with half a brain disputes that.

What they dispute (in the most simple sense) is people calling it Josh's turnovers, when they are actually Josh, Cook, Gabe, etc's or "The Bills" turnovers. Yes, the Bills need better ball security.

Threads like this one make me consider going cold turkey on the message boards.

Yep its an odd addiction that we have.

Here's an elephant to add to the room... During that same span of time, doesn't Josh have more games played than almost every other QB?

Oooh another elephant (hope the room is big enough)... During that same span of time doesn't Josh have the most total Touchdowns?

I think a couple issues are, Dorsey's offense was very predictable according to a number of people and when its predictable, it makes it that much easier to defend.  How many times lately are we seeing Allen double clutching the ball and looking for another option.  If defenses know whats coming, a lot of times receivers are going to be open, allen is going to get pressured and feel the need to escape, and bad things could happen.

Also as Rodgers said in his interview and I've been saying for a while, if the check down is open, he needs to start taking it way more often.  I've seen tons of plays where the check down in the flat or someone short is open, he has time and is looking downfield, but when its not open he won't even look to the check down.  He has to start taking these.  Instead of an incompletion, sack or even a turnover, it could be a 5-6 yard gain.  Even a 2-3 yard gain is fine, just move the ball a bit.  I'm not sure why he isn't looking there all the time but it has to start so we're more consistent moving the ball.

I don't disagree with any of that. Not sure you intended to reply to my post with that, but either way, all good!

Pretty sure McDermott is on the verge of losing the locker room and a few more brutal losses will seal that deal.  Don’t think 12-men on the field and the benching of Cook went over too well in the locker room. What we are watching is not a one-year anomaly, but a mounting pile of evidence, going back to 13-seconds and the last few games of last season, that McDermott is incapable of getting this team over the hump. Brady is his only hope.

That's you man. Keep thinking that, but there's no evidence of it and I'll stick with the much more plausible odds that he's still here in 24.

Kind of surprised to see how many people don't like Sal.

Not saying I agree with everything that he says but I honestly can't stand most of the callers that call in with every hot take under the sun and provide nothing to support their comment other than "because that's what I would do".

I agree with that part. Sure Sal can be annoying at times and can be a shill of sorts too, but the callers, OMG... The % of callers that actually have something valid to contribute has got to be less than 10%. I realize its only certain types of folks that call into these shows, but wow they sure make our fan base seem stupid.

Let me simplify that for you: Brady succeeds and Bills make the playoffs (McDermott stays) or Brady can’t turn the offense around, McDermott is gone and Bills hire an offensive-centric HC.

Even more simple: Brady succeeds, McDermott stays; Brady fails, bye-bye Clapper

Sorry for so many posters here... McD and his best ever Bills winning % will not be gone after one poor season. That would be such a drought era move. That will only happen if he loses his team in the locker room, which contrary to unfounded assumptions, there is no evidence of at this juncture.

A "playoffs or bust" demand would mean we need to go 5-2/ 6-1 against the remaining schedule which includes PHI, DAL, KC, MIA, LAC. Not realistic at all to expect considering the team as is. Is it possible? Sure.

I know what the concepts are that we've thrown interceptions on and they're all different. The only similarity is the area in which the interception occurred. People like to throw around statements on here as if they're fact, but when asked to back those statements up can't - or are unwilling to. There's so much misinformation on this board because people just see something and run with it whether it's true or not.

this ^^ for all you "there's guys running wide open" posters. This guy can explain to you what things like taking a backside 1v1 means, and why often times the "guys running wide open" is irrelevant to that read.

  10. Putting the Gabe drop INT on Josh should be a fan card suspension at minimum. (JKJK) That was literally perfect. Too fast? my ass. These WR's have worked with him plenty and are expected to catch those. Just like Favre That's how strong QB's fit balls in tight windows that others can't.

The other INT though.... that was a very poor decision to place it over there by Josh.

The worst thing you could do is "manage Allen".  That is what McD is trying to do and it's destroying what makes Allen special and neutering the offense in the process. Allen is a special talent that needs special handling like Brett Favre or John Elway did to fully exploit his talents.

And for the record DaBoll did not "manage" Allen he exploited Allen's unique and elite skill set.  And he did this successfully operating within an organization that favored the defense with the lions share of resources and never was willing to commit to assembling an elite offense to put around it's elite QB.

So instead of managing Allen the Bills need to:

    *  First the Bills need an offensive mind that embraces and game plans around what Allen does best. DaBoll was that sort of offensive mind.  I suspect there are a lot of guys out there who could do it as DaBoll wasn't really all that special.  What he did with Allen was common sense when faced with a talent like Allen.

    *  Second, the Bills need to surround Allen with high end complimentary skill players who can best take advantage of Allen's strengths.  Who is the Bills go to 50/50 pass catcher?  Why aren't the Bills emphasizing SPEED like the dolphins do.  And emphasizing speed isn't signing some role player who has lost a step like Harty.

    *  Third, the Bills need a first rate O line.  For 5 seasons they bring in career back ups and lower draft picks and try to create a patch work line that at best is average and often much below that.

    *  And finally the Bills need an offensive minded head coach that can get in Allen's face and lay the law down.

Bean/McD's strategic plan was to build an elite D while relying on Allen to elevate the average offensive talent they put around him.  And Allen did elevate that talent which led to high scoring offenses and four straight trips to the playoffs and three straight division titles.  But the D never became truly elite and was the main cause for the Bills playoff exits all 4 years.

The O-line absolutely crushed it tonight. I do like your point about needing to add high end complimentary skill players though.

The 2nd fumble was on Allen. Wow. 3 TOs for Allen. Should be interesting heading into Jets week. Wow. How many 3 TO games can Allen endure before McD sits him a quarter?

2 TO's for Allen. Ain't know way he gets the hit for the TO on the Gabe drop, that was money. But the 2 TO's and the whiff pass to Shakir on 4th and 2 left a lot to be desired.

Johnson is a slot corner. He’s no match for Jeudy going up the field like that.

He had to be ready for the quick slant for a first down, which was a much more likely play to be completed based on the defense. That would have allowed the Broncos to get it in FG range and spike it.

You rate Jeudy a bit higher than I, but all good. I think TJ can run with him.

  14. Craziest observation from tonight- I can't recall a better performance by a Bills O-line in the Josh Allen era. The were blasting open big, obvious holes in the run game and pass protection for Josh hasn't been better all season. I can't fathom losing a game to any team when that happens. Craziest bummer of a game in a long time for me.

I don’t want a play design the forces a jump ball with a WR who has better position in that situation.

Thats fair but TJ got smoked right off the line. Needed to back off there a bit more readily. That pass was a prayer though there's no 2 ways about it. Its a call that needs addressing by the rules committee. A ton of the NFL players agree.

The fault is Taron Johnson. It's man coverage with no help over the top because of the max blitz. You simply cannot get beaten long in that situation yet Jeudy did precisely that.

Correct. The blitz actually worked perfectly an caused a horrible underthrown duck of a pass.

Issue was Taron trying so hard to catch up to the WR he didn't notice him stopping.

While that's on Taron 100% under the current rules, the PI on the underthrown prayer ball needs to something they can go "upon further review, there is no foul on the play"

  17. Bumping this thread so folks with all their wackado takes and theories from the ringer and the athletic, along with some dangerously false assumptions of those looking at all-22 can find and at least see some objective truth as to what’s actually going on when our team is struggling.
