The Dolphins just lost a game when up by 14 with less than 3 minutes to go.

The first time in 767 games where the losing team came back to win.

Against a rookie qb at home.

To a team that hadn't won a game on the road all year.

Can you imagine this place if the bills did that?

Gotta be the head coach right? I mean fair is fair, LOL!

  2. There's this thing in outdoor games called pre-game warmups where the kickers for both teams and their coaches get together and determine what maximum distance they are comfortable with in the conditions, and other factors (like endzone tunnel or no endzone tunnel, swirling winds or winds in a specific direction, etc.). It was talked about on the radio pre game that even Butker (a consensus great kicker with a big leg) was maxed out at about 55-57 for this game. It showed when Reid did not have him attempt a 59 yarder in the game. No, this is not yet another something you can nit-pick the sh%$ out of as a McD problem. Well, you can, but you would be wrong.

Great, much need win by the Bills. A loss and we were done.

Now, will someone explain to me why, with 2:12 left in the game and KC with 2 timeouts and the deuce, did the Bills try not one but 2 passes (both fell incomplete) and gave KC extra time. They should have called a run, or for that matter even downed the f^%$ing ball. They could have kicked a field goal with very little time remaining and forced KC to use one of it's timeouts if not both.

I truly cannot understand this logic. Does McDermott have zero faith in his defense?

Am I the only one who got upset at this strategy?

The WR screen called there is essentially a run call. Its an extremely high percentage completion rate call (like over 85% completion rate) that it looks like Josh called as an RPO since the inside was completely filled with defenders. Diggs (our most sure handed WR) catches that 95 times out of 100 and we have our 3-4 yard run play.

lol yesterday the calls went in the Bills favor. I do believe they were due for some ref love?  I mean they saw a half a foot off side but missed half of Avon Millers body being offside on 4th and 15.  That is how it goes sometimes you get the calls others you don’t.

Not the case. That was the deception of the angle. Von wasn't off side. There are reviews of that available out there that clearly show it.

Another thing that happened in the game is the KC defenders held our receivers all 2nd half, on most plays. This is a practice that goes all the way back to when your head coach was a DC for the Giants. Essentially the idea is get 'grabby and holdy' and bank on the refs to not throw a flag every time. KC has adopted this practice for a number of years now. I don't usually see KC do this until playoff time, but they were out in full force doing it yesterday afternoon.

Aside from that, if you want to say Murray's 'catch' was a drop, then ok so was Kelce's earlier in the game.

Poor reffing in our game yesterday? Yes. In the Bills favor? No

I'll take it though one day when we do get more breaks than the other team!

Three high picks in six years, out side of Allen…, it is an underinvestment no matter how you spin it, a better balance is pretty obviously needed,

    GO BILLS!!!

Different years, different needs that made sense at the time to form a complete team. Diggs was also a high pick essentially... a plug and play one. Keep drafting offense, yes, I agree. Also, McD is NOT undermining Beane picks which is the attempted point of this thread. It's 100% unfounded.

I think a realistic evaluation of their draft strategy should factor in opportunity cost lost by going w so many day1/2 prospects on defense

esp if we consider those guys w NFL traits on the offensive side of the ball are likely to be higher impact overall

it was sarcasm pointing out that the original take was inaccurate, especially the last 2 drafts. I hope we go offense 1 and 2 again this year also.

And just as this thread predicts, SBNation has a new mock out which has Bengals at 13, Bills at 14, and Bengals nabbing Odunze as we get Nabers.

Exactly the type of situation I hope to avoid.

    https://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2023/12/4/23987205/nfl-mock-draft-2024-first-round-projection-update-bowl-games

I'd take Nabers at 14 after Odunze at 13, and sprint to the podium! He's the most complete #1 I've seen outside of MHJ. NFL speed, burst and quickness, great hands, all the routes... Odunze is incredible at contested catches and has great size and good hands too. I just haven't seen the shorter, quicker route running. If your consolation prize is Nabers at 14 (I don't think we'll be picking that low mind you), to me you're in great shape!

I don't have any issue with benching him, it's just the length of time that bothers me.

You want to take him out a drive, fine. But why continue that for multiple drives, and continously drag it out through entire games?

The issues with Cook's drops & fumbles are often how inexplicably bad they can be. The guaranteed TD drop against Philly would make any coach want to pull their hair out.

But continuing to pull him off & on each game just kills potential momentum & confidence. Josh also makes some bizarre INT's, but you wouldn't punish him by yanking him each mistake.

He didn’t get benched in the eagles game

I remember those drought years when we fired coach, after coach. We finally get a good one now we want to run him out of town lol. I’m really amazed how Mike Tomlin kept his job for so long lol.

Its because the Steelers org doesn't listen to their fans or the outside opinion. Make no mistake though, there's a large vocal group of them on the internet that have wanted Tomlin gone for years. It's no different than here. The same types of groups existed when Bill Cowher was the coach. Its also the same types of folks that think Marty Shotenheimer sucked as a coach, even though truly he never had the QB to get it done, and when he almost did (old version of Joe Montana), the Bills team full of hall of famers, including Kelly the QB had something to say about it. Many of the coaching greats in the game have 0 to 1 Super Bowl Victory, and many times it was because there was an even greater team ahead of them in their conference. There were some great Cowboy teams that got left out of the Superbowl because the Niners existed, and the exact opposite also happened.

IMO a full week off given the state of play of this team, yes, was too much.

They have months on end and tons of money to travel the world, after our season ends, which as a direct result of the state of play of this team will likely be in just over five weeks from now.

Who cares what other teams do.  Do you?

Otherwise, sorry that you disagree with me.

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's not really a rumor. In 2021, he was investigated for something that wasn't disclosed and the DA decided not to try the case. He was a Broncos player at the time and the investigation was done in Colorado. I know that Bengals players get away with A LOT because the Hamilton County DA is a season ticket holder.

"rumors and rumblings" was the poster's term and I was responding to him, unless he has 2 accounts here?

That version of himself, yes. We may have only seen that version 3-4 times ever though? Because his physical talent is the greatest the league has ever seen, him playing at his best would naturally be the best QB the league has ever seen. I believe his play against the Eagles was that version of himself.

We first saw it on the final game of his rookie year, home vs. Miami

There have always been rumors and rumblings of him being an entitled jerk to people. Nothing I can quote from an article or anything. I know he was investigated for something a couple of years ago that was dropped. And I know at least two women have claimed to be his baby mama, with one flat out calling him a deadbeat.

I'd hate to be a defendant in your court of rumors and rumblings, yikes!

But seriously, sucks if the rumors become validated...

I'd argue it's probably a bit higher.  Many of these players have been protected from consequences a fair amount of times. Add in the money they have that can both open the door to more opportunities to make poor decisions and give them an out to buy their way out of trouble.

Johnny Factory Worker assaults his spouse, he's going to jail. Super speedy NFL WR does the same and gets a record setting contract.

Oh I didn' t mean the percentage of folks who get caught or "revealed", I meant the percentage of scumbags who would lay hands on a woman for any reason other than self defense.
