Much of this is the same people making the same arguments across dozens and dozens of different threads. Yawn.
To the one point I can glean that hasn't been covered a million times... Yes I believe that unlike many HC's in the league, McD has shown the ability to grow and learn on the job and improve in many areas, and not stubbornly hold on to beliefs or strategies that have failed him.

He’s never ranked higher than 15th in FG%. His ceiling is average.
A Kicker in Buffalo (current stadium) rarely will rank super high in FG%, even if they are really good, which Bass most definitely was prior to his decline for part of last season.

If we can, let's put everything aside and let only logic be our guide for the sake of this conversation....
1) If Carter is to be a "leader" on the Bills, please tell me who he will lead and when.
2) What do you think Josh Allen would have been more pleased to have, a 6'2" defensive tackle from Duke who might be a "leader" in the future (if he is still with the team) or another receiver with speed?
3) In round two (after trading down), McDermott selected a wide receiver who is lisated as running a 4.62 40. In fact, on this linked site he had the worst 40 time of any listed wideout. Does this even concern you a little bit? https://gbnreport.com/2024-wr-ranking/ Now, if we play a 12 package we will have two TEs and a comparatively slow wide receiver, this for a QB with a cannon. Call me crazy but I don't like this very much.
Btw, I re-read my post to you and consider it to be too harsh. I am sorry, and I do pray for more patience. Be well.
I think all he was trying to point out (and he is right) is that the Bills picks included at least 4 (I think more maybe) Alpha-Dog Team Captains from the college team they were on, and that it was part of the consideration in drafting them (Beane spoke on this and validated it) due to a large turnover in team leaders lost from the Bills (Poyer, Hyde, Morse, Diggs, Trey day, etc.). I think that is a sound and logical approach by the team for this draft.
As far as the WR, I wanted to move up for BTJ or stay for Legette, but the guy we took is further along in development than Legette and rates/shows well enough in lots of other areas besides 40 time (he runs faster than 4.6 per Beanes mentioned GPS on the filed results), and I'll trust the team on that not hindering him too much. We'll find out in 2 or 3 years (Like with any prospect, its not an exact science).

awful comparisons. Those comparisons are actually addressed in this cover 1 video. I'd recommend it -
He's a waaay better athlete than Benjamin was and the hands and over the top abilities in tight coverage are worlds better than Gabe.

All the remaining WR's have flaws. Opinions are fun but nobody here (or amongst the teams) knows at all which guys will overcome those flaws and which won't. For that reason I hope we choose 2 WR in the next 4 picks.
My preference at 33 is Mitchell, but it seems like there's still quite a few possibilities (including another trade) that would make some sense.
Franklin wouldn't anger me either...

My dream. AD the wr from Texas now, then the DUI DT, then the troy Franklin dude in 3rd
I don't think Franklin makes it to the 3rd round.

Some believe that DeJean is a future 4-5x all-pro. If Beane views him as that I don't see how he could pass on him. Very likely is the BPA at this point as well.
However there are players that fit the bill at 4 positions there right now.
Newton at DT, DeJean at S/CB, McKinstrey at CB and Mitchell at WR.
They could maybe be OK with taking any of those 4 and maybe be willing to move down 3 picks and take whatever one is left or pick from those 4...
Beane has a ton of options right now in this spot.
No doubt on the DeJean point. I imagine he is by far the best rated player available still, but I still want a WR instead if I had my way, as irrational as it may be!

We traded a 4th for a 3rd, so we essentially moved up half a round.
38 spots... so OVER a full round, not half a round.

People saying we helped KC are really that dense?
We got equal trade value per the Rich Hill value chart and turned a 4th into a 3rd rd pick.
KC would have drafted Worthy where they sat or even in the 29,30 or 31 spot. The Bills didn't want Worthy.
We went all of 4 spots back.... oh no!

We didn’t get fair market value for moving up 4 spots in the first
not to mention, it’s your rival so that should add even more to the price. I have no issue with a trade down, getting the return we got from the team we traded with is not nearly good enough… kc cannot believe we made that deal
Yes we did in fact it was almost a dead even match. The value #’s differed by 1 point

Clowns, look at your own polls on who to take if you had your choice with the Bills staying at 28 or trading back?
Worthy was what, 20% of the share?
Now KC has him and we still pick 4 picks later and gained a 3rd rounder and its freakout time...smdh

down 4 spots. Plenty of WR left. We got a 3rd now. What's not to like?

It was beyond predictable that so many of you would act as if you all thought Xavier 160 lb Worthy was the next Randy Moss just as soon as KC picked him.

Yep and he also believes momentum in sports competition to be a fairy tale, which anyone who has played organized team sports can tell you is bs.

As per usual Schopp has no clue what he's talking about.
This sets it up for him to cry when the Bills don't send the farm and do what he would like.
Has more to do with sending a willing trade partner the best deal. Believe it or not...not all the teams looking to move back are willing to move all the way to 28. One thing I'm certain of. If Beane wants to make a move...an attempt will be made. He's not shy. He's also not going to be taken advantage of, as well.
He actually said on yesterday's show how trading way up would be the stupidest idea possible, and that math backs that up.... I disagree with him, but that's his take.

As the draft rapidly approaches, all I can say to everyone is to learn from the past. Learn from the Josh Allen selection. NONE of us know more than the teams spending thousands of man hours on these guys, not only on the field, but how these guys fit to their teams, what their mental and medical situations are, how much of a risk the teams are willing to take on a guy, etc. Also none of us INCLUDING the teams know if any of these guys will work out in the league. The pre-draft rankings you have or agree with out there probably don't come too close to matching any other team's draft board, especially as you get out of the 1st 20 prospects. Sure there are players with higher odds than others... Resist drawing your lines in the sand where you claim either "Super Bowl here we come!" or "This team is doomed and set back 5 years!" after your team's selection. You have no idea of that. The league turns over much faster than it used to in terms of rosters. Take the choices that are made and try to reason why they were, and know that a whole organization is behind the decision. There are going to be "sure thing" players who end up failing, along with RAS score 1.5 players who shine in the game. Bottom line, try to enjoy the draft.

Many people are underselling XL because of what they've parroted from other people, and that's fine. I also suspect the "intellect concerns" could wrongly be tied to something as silly as him having a strong southern dialect. A one trick pony he is NOT. Watch the all-snaps video. Anyway, 1st round picks are for athletic traits and upside in my opinion.
I do think LM is going to be a reliable, consistent separator and fine player and would be happy to get him as well, just not my preference. If he is part of a "double dip" at WR I'd be ecstatic.
I am not one of those "this guy is great, so this other guy sucks" people that are so common on forums.

I can buy that on Thomas. I watched all his targets yesterday. The straightine speed is absurd, no doubt about it, and maybe thats enough for a mid/late 1st. Everything else...meh. I'm not going to argue if they pick him, I've been wrong before. I just don't see it.
well good on the Bills if we can get enough negative talk about BTJ to have him slide closer or even all the way to 28!

Thanks for sharing, @HappyDays. For those that just come to poop any and all content: No one is trying to sell you anything or deceive you into thinking something. Not the poster, and not the article writer. These are stories in the off-season. People like fans sometimes like to hear such things. The articles aren't here to prove that they've finally reached your personal level of what's acceptable on your football team. I picture your collective posting personas as a fat medieval king, grease on his lips, ordering his servants around with persistent displeasure.
