  1. Things that Brady, himself (these are not team influenced attributes), is able to do that make him a very, VERY good quarterback: (I actually watch some Patriot games if that matters) - Read defenses: He is nearly always making the correct decision as to where to go with the ball, down to his 3rd and fourth reads if needed. He is one of the better Qb's at looking off/holding safeties and backers in positions that will become an advantage for his receivers and their spacing on the field. - Accuracy: He has a knack for hitting his receivers in stride, often allowing them to continue for yards after the catch. Even under heavy pressure, in MOST cases, he keeps his eyes down the field and is able to throw accurately. - Poise: As mentioned above he keeps his focus down the field better than most. Without being necessarily mobile he has a very good feel in the pocket and an ability to side-step well to avoid rushers. His heart rate probably does not fluctuate nearly as much as most Qb's when under pressure. - Touch: He has a good understanding for the drop depths taken by defenders and is able to place some tough throws over the coverage of the linebackers and underneath the zones of defensive backs. His medium to low end long ball, while not very impressive strength-wise always seems to drop in the bread basket nicely. He throws very accurate screens and flat passes, which is seemingly becoming somewhat of a lost art these days. - Clutch: The guy plays his best football when the stakes are highest. This wasn't the case with him early on, but it sure is now (see previous 2 Superbowls and Championship game last season) Is this guy the best ever? NO Will he finish his career as one of the best (ie. HOF): YES Do I like him? NO Does his offensive line get away with holding calls more than most other teams?: Yes Edit- I am not interested in any sort of Yards per completion/ rating/passes over 40 yards/How many times he winks at his center statistical debate.
  2. We have about as much of a chance in that game as David Carr does going through an entire game without getting sacked.
  3. The main thing I've come to realize with Brady (not that I like it) is that he just gets it done. Time in, time out when a play (or plays) is needed he makes it happen. He is not a "measureable" type of player. You cannot prove or disprove his abilities with statistics. He is just the epitomy of clutch and cool under duress. I hate the bastard, but it's true.
  4. Visual aid?
  5. I'm ready to take the Old School football fanship worthiness determination quiz whenever it is presented . Pardon me if I skew your expected statistical results.
  6. He's certainly as good as this poster on this board thinks he is. Better than I expected actually. He, in 18 games, has rushed for 100 yards 10 times I believe. Many of these games were wrought with situations where the rushing game was the main focus of the opponents defense. He had a lapse this season vs. Tampa Bay , and then regained his steady, consistent progress. He holds onto the ball well, reads and uses his blocks well, runs with uncanny power, a smooth shiftiness, burst and has a good enough glide and top end speed to break occasional 40/50 yarders. He is IMO on the verge of cracking the top 5 of backs in this league if he's not there already. And I certainly would not include Julius or Kevin Jones in that group as of yet. Re: your blocking references you may want to go back and take a little more concentrated look at the size and duration of the holes being created for some of those guys you mention. Holes that we have not seen here in Buffalo since the Kent Hull days.
  7. And use yet even more high round picks on non offensive/Defensive linemen?
  8. I think that if you think you (or anybody here) can determine whether or not JP has "it" or not after 4 games, then I want some of that good stuff you're smoking.
  9. great post cable! He really seems to feed off the fans doesn't he? I thought the celebration was hillarious and Willis is showing more and more how much he enjoys being here and playing a large role on the team. I can take it or leave it with celebrations, but I don't think there's any reason to be so uptight about the game, as long as you're not showing up an opponent in their own stadium.
  10. I'd disagree strongly with B., and F. wasn't an issue it seems until this season. Other than that I agree.
  11. It was Teague and he bench pressed Ellis
  12. Aaron played well yesterday. He had a lot of outside pressure that forced Vinny into other players. He also stood up real well on an outside run and shed his man to make the tackle. Unfortunateley he probably needs a little more help from the right DT in order to show up more on the stat sheet again.
  13. Go piss in your own cheerios mr!
  14. I see you agree with my late night post last night about the running game It's nice to see Shelton getting his act together again aye?
  15. I agree with this. I've gone over the first half again and focussed on the running plays. The line consistently mauled the Jets defenders, especially in the B and C gaps. It was a pleasure to watch this line doing what they were intended to do from the start, and with Mike and Chris coming back in it made a huge difference. As in game one, Mike was left one on one with his man and took him completely out of the play on all the runs I saw to the right. Chris V often made it to the second level on plays and had great success, while Shelton (who had BY FAR his best game of the season) played cleanup through the hole and created a pivot point for Willis to get extra yards. Anderson was dominant on his side as well, getting a great up the filed surge, while Gandy sealed the edge on some successful breaks to the outside. Teague also got adequate push on short yardage plays enough to keep some drives alive.
  16. I see the comparison has "upgraded" from Kevin and Julius Jones to LT and Alexander, the 2 best Rbs' in the NFL. Next you will be saying "but he'll never be in the class of Gale Sayers"
  17. -The third down D was better today (still scary at times, yes). -The play calling I thought was fantastic today, other than one series in the first half that started with the reverse, then Willis in motion to WR on the next play. -Run D is still a gap control issue, but atleat they're not being outman'ed. Still a problem yes for sure, but could be worse.
  18. You will not hear Boomer say too much negative about the Jets or Bengals.
  19. Maybe it was Mike Schoop
  20. I won't speak for Simon, but I think he was easily worth it. But then again I have hindsight to use with this. Like he said, maybe we tried and were denied.
  21. Will anybody still be there after 1:00 ? I'm in full pee-on mode at the office
  22. Simon, you make all together too much sense in this thread.
  23. Actually it sounds very Bellichick like to me
