Hackett’s clock management, including use of timeouts, leaves a ton to be desired for sure. But the lion’s share of the blame for Denver’s problems rest with Russell Wilson. Hackett has been scheming guys open all season, but Wilson either can’t find them or misses them when he does. It’s been apparent in every game this season.

Of course if he’s not 100% that changes the decision making process. It remains to be seen if he comes back as good as new, but it’s not written in stone that it’s impossible simply because of his ACL injury. Post surgical prognoses just aren’t as cut and dried as they once were. One thing is for sure and that is he won’t come back until he and the team agree that it’s time.

Assuming Tre is 100% when he gets back, he will replace the CB the coaches have graded lower. It’s a pretty simple process. We might think we know who has outperformed whom, but we don’t have enough pertinent info to actually grade performances. The coaches do. It could also be a matter of strictly wanting to slot Tre at his normal left CB position and he replaces whomever has been manning that side of the field.

If they had any inkling that Beasley still had the chops to be that “crafty, always-open outlet for Jones” they would have done it months ago. But like I said, they both knew better that his physical skills had eroded. Plus, they had a front row seat to his two month long hissy fit around the building last year.

Beane has done it before in both Sammy Watkins and Ronald Darby. Strongly doubt he’d be inclined to trade any of the young DBs currently, however.

White is listed as only five pounds lighter than Hyde and is one pound heavier than Poyer.

Nor should it be. For Tomlinson or any coach. It’s a slap in the face to every player on the team. “Well, boys. We have a delicate waif of a rookie at QB, so we are gonna just focus on his development and not worry about the wins this year.” How does anyone think that sits with the veterans on that team like Hayward, Fitzpatrick, Watt, etc. who know the deal better than anyone? You play the guy who you think gives you the best chance of winning. Full stop. And if Pickett has to take his lumps early on, he just might be better off for it in the long run. But you have to find out, regardless. The important thing for a coach is to support him when he struggles and help him to develop his game in spite of those struggles.
