  1. I’d be interested to know what formulas they used to come up with that. The again, 62.8 percent of all stats are made up on the spot.
  2. Voodoo analytics since there is absolutely NO data to analyze of NP as a pro. Unless you count the brief appearance last Sunday.
  3. NP has been “developing” the entire time. The idea he should have been inserted earlier is difficult to entertain; there’s no formula. And the early season success and a record of 5-2 is exactly when you DON’T insert the rookie. Especially when the vet QB has played well and made some plays to help win games.
  4. Well, those routes are part of the route tree for a reason and DCs will be quick to notice our reluctance and have their DBs playing inside technique. He's gotta be able to make that throw with consistency. He had a couple the other day and on his first pass it got there on time and was thrown before the receiver broke. So there's hope.
  5. Appreciate the honesty here. And I'd be more surprised if Shady didn't think that way about Taylor. And more concerned, too. But even he knows we have to see how the kid performs because if NP really is what the offense needs, then Shady will be the biggest beneficiary. And I'm also not convinced this is a permanent move. Not by a long shot.
  6. I haven't seen, much less heard, anything from McCoy or anyone else to suggest it's playing in any way other than that of a QB change being made and a competitor and consummate pro showing a natural reaction and yet still saying all the right things. But like I said, the key will be in how they react. These things can have a way of galvanizing a collective focus and creating a rallying point. I think McD is just as curious to see how the gamble pays off in that regard. Either way, he's gonna have a better understanding of what kind of team he has.
  7. Legitimate concerns, all. As to the bold text, wiser words were never spoken.
  8. Is there any possibility, any possibility at all, that your displeasure with the move is impacting your assessment of Shady's reaction? He was certainly subdued though.
  9. Looks like the Jest, who have a good D line, have made some adjustments. 2015 was a long time ago; eons in football time.
  10. It was the team result. I'm not looking to find fault with Taylor where it doesn't exist.
  11. We won't know that until we see how Peterman performs and how they respond.
  12. We are talking past each other. But if "coach speak" is what it is, then they lie all the time. I thought you knew better.
  13. That's why you have to tip your hat to the Jest and the Saints. Their front sevens played a very disciplined system that kept TT in the pocket where he is most uncomfortable.
  14. It's anything BUT a lie. Do you not have any feel for the context of that statement at the time it was given? For someone who has a working knowledge of professional sports environments, I'm surprised you think McDermott deliberately lied to TT (it was the press he was speaking to, btw) immediately after seeing his team get pounded for the second consecutive game when responding to a loaded question from a reporter. Even if he did know he was benching TT at that moment (I doubt he did) it would have been a BIGGER disservice to TT to announce his decision at that time in that fashion. And I suspect you'd have even less respect for McD than you do now as a result.
  15. Lied to him? Really? Here was a head coach who just witnessed an historic asswhoopin' on the heels of another asswhoopin' 10 days earlier, without the benefit of a film review of the game, being asked by a reporter bent on looking for an angle, if he was gonna bench TT and he answered that TT was still his starting QB. Given that context I don't think it was a lie at all. And I think they arrived at this decision only after a very rational breakdown of the film. To accuse him of lying is specious, imo. I also don't think this decision was made strictly on the basis of TT's poor play as this team, after two embarrassing losses was in a tailspin and moves like this can often galvanize a team. Although it was under different circumstances, I see similarities to when Todd Collins made his first start for Kelly in '96. They had just come off an embarrassing drubbing vs. the Steelers on Monday night and they were reeling. And while Collins was kept in restraints by Levy, the O line and defense put hurting on the Cowboys that day. They found something to rally around. It's risk to be sure, but totally understandable on many levels.
  16. Stopped reading after this. Just a complete horsecrap insinuation.
  17. I don't think last week was mop up duty, though. At least in terms of how the Saints approached things when he came in. They weren't in a prevent defense, rushed at least 4 on every play and sent 6 on a couple others. And those DBs would have love to pad their stats I imagine. I think your comparisons to being between Cousins and Moore is pretty close with what little we have to go on. But when I watch that Clemson tape and the ease with which he carved them up, I can see why he was considered the most pro ready QB in the draft and why they liked him at the Senior Bowl so much. He outplayed Watson, imo. And on the road, too.
  18. I'll agree to disagree but I understand the point about playing to TT's strengths more often. I just don't think you can make a consistent living doing that and it's a good way to get your QB killed, too. Especially after getting rid of his only legit deep threat on the outside. And I happen to think getting rid of Sammy was a big mistake at least in terms of talent; he's a star, imo. But I can see the money question being a concern there. Bottom line? The coaches prefer a better fit for their preferred offensive vision and I can respect that. Their desired playbook is too limited when the QB can't operate from the pocket and get the ball out on time. I can't be too critical of their decision to seek a better fit if they're convinced it's the best move at the moment.
  19. I agree. NP doesn't put a ton of spin on it and that lack of zip on those long outs is catnip to cornerbacks looking to jump a route.
  20. But man, his brother Dick was a GREAT middle LB back in the day.
  21. This is the McBeane show now. Anything short of Peterman looking like Brady out of the box and we are going hard after a QB. Assuming TT is gone, we have Peterman and bubkis at the position. Yep
  22. I can't agree with this; I think we are going hard after a QB. But if Peterman flashes, it may mean we won't have to give up too many picks or reach for one.
