Dear #34fan,
One man's stink is another man's perfume. Looking forward to an aromatic era with my home town team. Here's to a fragrant future.
Yours truly,
Brian Daboll
The best thing about the history of QBs selected in previous drafts is that none of it is relevant. Every draft, every prospect, every situation he is drafted into is its own unique set of dynamics.
The only commonality that matters is the level of conviction a particular team has towards a particular prospect and whether that conviction is enough to warrant the investment in the pick.
Missed that, my bad.
It’s worth pointing out that Foxborough is considered the “Miami of Massachusetts” where the elite m!@#$ hordes go for their winter tans.
Great point about trust, especially when that trust is placed in an inaccurate QB. But again, not running the route causes the entire route scheme to suffer.
Well 3rd, that kind of makes the point, doesn’t it? Fear never stopped the likes of Andre Reed and others from venturing across the middle. Players can get hurt in any given play so fear needs to be managed and overcome. There’s also the element of how that route relates to the others run on a particular play as well. Route schemes are interdependent.
This is a fair point, imo. Personally, I think the desire to see him at wideout speaks to his extraordinary athletic talent rather than what it says about his ability (or lack thereof) as a QB. And I fully supported his decision not to work out at the WR position at the combine.
Per the bold text, that's just not true. If he were white and from Tennessee, he'd have the exact same question marks going coming out of college. There are legitimate concerns regarding his ability, just as there are for all the other prospects.
I think he showed promise going back to his rookie year. He stretched defenses and even made EJ look good at times in doing so.
I understand the frustration with his co-dedication to his track and field training, but I can't say that was simply a "hobby" for him. He was chasing a legitimate Olympic dream and I'm glad he had the full backing of the organization in that pursuit. We also could have tried to re-sign him but McDermott saw him as too much of an injury risk. Can't blame him for that, either.
Quite frankly, the league hasn't seen another like Bruce Smith, not just us. We've also had two Pro Bowl DEs since as well. But all that is beside the point. When defensive end becomes the equivalent of QB in terms of importance then we'll see just as many threads devoted to that position.
I’m a little skeptical of his bench reps given the use of a prosthetic device to compensate for his missing left hand. It would have been more impressive if he just held the bar in the middle with his one hand.
