  1. Been thinking the same for some time. I see the toll in human life and the destruction of the Red Keep convincing Jon and Dany that the throne, the chair itself, is simply not worth it; that there is a higher calling.
  2. I’m not sure I agree a young player has reached his potential playing in a system not best suited to his talents.
  3. I, along with tens of thousands of others share your somber outlook about the Sabres and I think we are more than justified. Especially, as you point out, when worse teams have bypassed us in half the time. That points toward ineptitude from ownership on down. Can’t blame you at all. It’s a totally fair outlook. If Mitts doesn’t show incremental improvement over the next couple years and doesn’t arrive after that, then I’ll have to agree with you. Until then though, he’s developing as expected. And again, on par with some very good centers at the same career stage.
  4. Per the bold text, what do you imagine McD’s role is in creating the offensive game plan? How do you envision his discussions with Daboll unfold on a week to week basis?
  5. Well, things are bleak currently. I can understand the pessimism after eight years of perpetual suckitude. But Casey Mitts is the least of our issues. He belongs in the league and is progressing on the same track as a lot of other currently good Cs did after one season at 19 and 20 years old. If anyone was expecting a McD, Eichel, or Matthews, they had totally unreasonable expectations.
  6. The pick from the Blues could have been as high as 17 if both wild card teams would have advanced in the west. Got screwed in both game sevens!
  7. Yep. When no future picks of any kind, let alone high ones, are used to acquire your QB high up in the first round, it just doesn’t qualify as a king’s ransom. Beane parlayed 2018 picks acquired in trades into two first round picks. He invested in draft capital and spent that draft capital on targeted prospects. No ransom involved.
  8. Yep. A lot of great players coming out of the US development program to be sure. We have 2 first rounders. Our own pick at 7 and the lesser of Sharks/Blues after they finish, which would be 30 or 31.
  9. I agree we are gonna get a good prospect at 7 but not one who I think will play right away as those 18 year olds are rare. I’m hoping for Turcotte, but I think he may go earlier. I’d be happy with Boldy as well. He’s a left winger, but is versatile and will be a solid top 6 player.
  10. You’ve had Mitts in your crosshairs for a while now. Why the rancor?
  11. Perhaps you should watch that video again. What is shown in that video is Beane offering THIS YEAR’S 40, 131, and 147 to move back up into the first. The unidentified team on the other end did not accept that offer. Maybe you’re confusing what occurred later when Chicago offered Beane #87 in this year’s draft plus their 2020 4th round pick in exchange for our third round pick. Beane said no and chose Singletary.
  12. Happened to catch a little of the Eagles report earlier and it strikes me every time: was the facade of their HQ building designed by Disneyworld architects? Looks like something from Harry Potter world.
  13. Dareus created an untenable situation of his own making. He had to go; he wanted to go. Did it make our defense worse vs. the run? Yes. Difficult moves are sometimes required for the long term good of the organization. We saw the same thing with the O’Reilly trade. Some issues trump talent, sometimes.
  14. He’s got some of the highest velocity measurements ever recorded. 62mph both left and right at the combine the highest I’ve been able to find in my (very cursory) search. Here is last year’s ‘Soul and Science’ segment re-posted. http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-network-total-access/0ap3000000927196/Soul-Science-How-fast-can-Josh-Allen-throw
  15. I appreciate the thought, but Jackson’s velocity looks nothing like Allen’s.
  16. There’s a lot of truth to this.
  17. I can’t say I disagree about the talent coming out next year and it makes sense to put premium talent around your young QB. I’d certainly be happy with a great wideout. It’s early in the evaluation process for next year’s draft class and I’ll be interested to see how the rankings develop. But at this early juncture, it’s hard for me to believe that any player will be more highly ranked than Clowney. And Clowney plays the second most impactful position in the game to boot. It would be hard to pass on him, imo.
  18. Clowney would have to agree to an extension before I made the deal. And I’d have no problem trading next year’s first. Would people really pass up Jadeveon Clowney if he was sitting there when it’s our turn to pick? Really?
  19. It was a fun track. My old company always sponsored a corporate tent each year at the Kemper Open so we got to entertain clients from time to time with a round here and there. I couldn’t golf worth crap, but it was always a good time.
  20. The one and only time I had it and it was wonderful indeed. Enjoy it!
