I appreciate that. I was just imposing the established standardized speed of sound (Mach 1) at sea level on a normal day (clear, calm, etc.,) on my theoretical object traveling through the vacuum of outer space, which was a stretch given that Mach applies to “air” craft and not “space” craft. I fully respect the variables that can impact the speed at which sound travels.

Anything traveling through space at the speed of 767mph?

I’m skeptical of the circumstantial evidence as well. This archeological phenomenon is not universally accepted in the field and much further study is required and ongoing. I also don’t believe that our ancient relatives only drew images of what they saw. I believe they had imagination as we have today. We tend to not give credit to their ingenuity and technical abilities as well. So many UFO claims have been debunked over the years so I think my skepticism is warranted. I was really hoping that the purported photographs from the late 40s of the Area 51 alien would prove true as they had the UFO believers thinking that finally they found their smoking gun. Turns out it was the mummified body of a two year old boy from an ancient Southwest US Indian community that was on display at a museum in the region when the photos were taken. But I remain open to the possibility, no matter how slim.

My post was a joke and I think he got it. In terms of the actual discussion, I’m more inclined to believe the skeptics as I share their doubt that alien civilizations exist and have visited us. There is simply no empirical evidence that I’m aware of. Thousands of conspiracy and other theories, but nothing substantive. As vast as the universe is and as plentiful as the the matter is that occupies it, it’s mostly full of space. Infinitely more nothing than something. Never saw it. I’ll have to check it out. And yeah, 11 seconds is a lifetime, relatively.

I should probably clarify that I didn’t mean it in that context but in the context of them being 20 seconds more advanced technologically. When we consider the space time continuum, 20 seconds can be an eternity.

I think that's fair in terms of judging his ability as a story teller/director. I watched the trailer and I'm intrigued. And since the movie doesn't purport to be a historical documentary but only says it's based on true events, then I have no problem accepting that it's a drama woven around those historical events. If it's a good, compelling story then, like any other movie, I'll like it. If not, I won't. It must be difficult at times for someone of your knowledge about the actual events, strategies, tactics, equipment, etc., to watch these kinds of war dramas. Technical details are gonna fall through the cracks for lots of reasons, most of which I suspect you find intolerable. I'd be interested in some of your opinions/critiques of war documentaries that do purport to tell the true story. But that's another discussion entirely.

Smart move. The new Arizona coast will be some prime real estate. Get in now while the gettin' in is good.

Was it Woody Allen who said that some inter-galactic alien civilizations might be as much as 20 seconds more advanced than us?

We’ve conducted numerous experiments over the years that show various creatures, from octopuses to finches, performing tasks requiring deductive reasoning. Have we done that with Canadians yet?

As much as I’d like to believe it and see it, I really doubt it. Leverage is so important to winning battles and hands and arms are so important to leverage, that I just can’t see a prosthetic offering the same advantages of a real arm. That said, prosthetic technology is evolving so rapidly that I’d never say never.

We all view events through the prism of our own perspective. Per the bold, the defense team did a masterful job of doing exactly that. In addition, they were able to exploit the bungling by several technicians in charge of blood and other evidence. And, as has been pointed out, the prosecution team wasn’t up to the task of countering that kind of high priced defense.

The day the Sabres’ futility and New Era Stadium collided...
K-9 replied to transient's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Look, this forum is all about conjecture at times and it can be fun to engage in. In this particular case, I was merely responding to a poster that said Trotz chose the Islanders over the Sabres, which has no basis in fact. None. So while I can enjoy conjecture as well as the next guy, I tend to draw the line when it’s used to support an untruth. -

Scrappy squared? Scrappy to the 2nd power? -
First I’ve heard of other “plausible perps.” Any idea who they are? I’d be interested in learning more about follow up efforts by prosecutors. Lack of evidence of guilt? I’ll have to disagree on that. Especially considering the unanimous guilty verdict in civil court. I fully respect and abide by the jury’s verdict in the criminal case, though. I don’t agree, but I have never held it against them. Not for a second.

The job wasn’t open at the time Trotz became available. That’s why not. -

Respectfully, May Day is just offering conjecture. There is simply no basis at all, NONE, to this conjecture. Any team in the league, ANY team, could have had Lamoriello and Trotz if they were willing to create those openings and meet their demands. And the Sabres would have been LESS likely candidates since JBotts and Housley were only one year into their tenures.
