  1. I had to wait 30 minutes to cross a street to get home last night becuse the !@#$ing motorcade was coming out from Aurora...
  2. Then why is it there?? And no, I don't really care..
  3. I think he feels the heat of a recovery that is tinkering along. If you get housing back up and breathing, it makes greases the gears and we start picking up steam.... My frustration is not with doing something, its doing the wrong things.... Artificially boosting home purchasing again is not doing it right... Immigration reform, real changes to Medicare and Medicaid, getting to an easy, makes sense tax code makes sense... Democracies are great at dealing with problems, not so great at dealing with them before thy happen.
  4. I wonder if we do go to war with Iran, will we borrow to fund it, or ask Americans to actually pony up and pay for it?
  5. Why does it have to that??? Can't it simply say nothing???
  6. Housing officials are urging the Justice Department to provide assurances to banks, which have become increasingly cautious, that they will not face legal or financial recriminations if they make loans to riskier borrowers who meet government standards but later default. So we promise if you make loans by ignoring credit criterion, we won't legally pursue you? Jesus Christ, I know the economy is not gang busters, but lets not make the same mistakes again...
  7. they're immigrating to our country against our laws... illegal immigrant really captures it perfectly. Sigh... Arizona will be a Blue stronghold in 10 years.... as well as Colorado... its not untrue said above
  8. If this is the same guy I am thinking it is, I saw an interview with him on 60 minutes or world news, or something. He was a smart guy, but I seem to remeber the interview being kind of vague, but he obviously understood the issues facing the system, etc. I'd search for the interview, but the hospital blocks everyting upon everything here...
  9. Wouldn't Medicare for all US Citizens, with a deductible of $X amount of dollars fit what you describe? I'd go as far to suggest maybe we don't even give people HSA's to fund that intial amount, perhaps people should just be expected to put away after tax money on their own to pay for services that are not going to catagorically catastrophic. My reason being, is we are looking to get the Government out of Healthcare and balance budgets, another tax subsidy for an HSA account would be a pretty big line item. I might also suggest the risk pook be State Wide, not Federal- in an attempt to remove the Federal Government from as much program adminstration as possible. So, a State Risk Pool, with a Self Pay Spread, and perhaps its Means Tested so if you have more money, you cover more expenses until the Insurance Money kicks in... I know that sounds like a penalty for higher earners, but if asked I am sure they would rather pay more for health services if needed rather than taxed upfront for healthcare....
  10. I don't know about what you wrote, but I respect you for pulling Down the Dr Bombay Economic scene from Back to School. Now if you dig up the Professor Turgesson Scene from Contemporary American History from Back to School, you will have a solid follower here The OP....
  11. Thats cuz he's an educated, uppity Uncle Tom
  12. tis thread makes me sad for you
  13. but isn't that just Nationalized Healthcare with a personal deductible? I like the idea, but I would think the insurance industry would have a gripe or two about that.
  14. that's a cool story
  15. I really like it. Its simply a reminder that this Franchise was once excellent and commanded respect from other team on heir schedule. I think the should hang the jerseys of some of the players we had during the hey dey.... there is someting inspirig and nostaligic about knowing you are sharing the field with some of the best to ever take the field... we need our players to take pride in being in that practice facility, pride is kicking off at the Ralph, pride is being a Buffalo Bill.... You go coach Marrone...

  20. Yep, MIA has it right, this belongs in the gay thread... KIll the carrier? Who wants to kill the carrier, but everybody wants to smear the queer....
  21. I never wanted to be the queer... rock fights, like with real rocks? He took a lot of shots from dudes, so I would have to concur....
  22. Tell you girlfriend I said Hi
  23. I guess kids can't play "Smear the Queer" anymore? Its funny, dodgeball and other contact games were where some kids not so physcially or athlectially developed earned some respect and clout just for stepping up and playing the game..
  24. I am going to go with Jauranimo here, goalies are !@#$ing weirdos... I've played with some great ones over the years, but I wouldn't let them date my sister
  25. Perhaps the underlying assumption of spending going down is false in and of itself in the short run.... there is little reason to believe that with a aging population, people living longer and more inteventions/therapies we can do now to keep people alive, how could spending actually go down? The only way I see spending going down is when A.) People need to pay for a substantial amount of their care before there is any insurance covered benefit B.) People who are really old and sick choose to forgo A and make the decision to skip treatments and have nature take its course... You can have all the competition in the world in healthcare, and while I think that helps alot, the industry still delivers a unique product just about everybody wants (id argue needs), life and health... and we also have a populace tha abhors the thought of a citizens having to forgo those things because of the money hurdle...
