Complete Write-off Season?
B-Large replied to WhitewalkerInPhilly's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills have a nice base to build on roster wise, and we assume (assume) they will address our WR, LB and depth issues in the draft. Last years Defense performance was inexcusable, I am gonig to chock it up to a coordinator that has seen the game pass him by, or simple thought what he was doing would work. Pettine might be the one move that turns this team around from bottom feeder of the East to competitive team in the East, and perhaps in the running till the end for a WC spot in the postseason. We are not goin to be imposing out Will this year, but I bet our D is getting off the the field and keeping games close, against good teams not just the dregs of the NFL. I am pretty excited, probably the most excietd I have been in 5 years. If we can nail it on a rookie QB, don't even care if he plays this year, we will be back going forward.... please, please, for all that is holy don't draft a QB at #8 and draft the "right" QB when the appropriate times comes, 2nd or 3rd. -
Yep, but I'm gonna put this one on the President... I am tired of hearing how drastic and terrifying these cuts are, for !@#$s sake, if we can't cut 2 percent of a budget when were running trillion dollar deficits and 16 trillion in LTD, we are screwed.... I don care if if its a political loss for Obama, propose some real cut backs and lets get balanced budgets... There is a 75k page tax code ripe with goodies and other nonsense that can be cut... If Obama wants to stick it to the rich, go flat tax... I'm not sure why that notion can't gain more traction.... And that doesn't even get into the big 3, we can cut 15-20 from those program without people dead in the streets, elderly eating dig food or become a third world military power

Top Banker Says Government Caused Housing Crisis
B-Large replied to truth on hold's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
So wait, financing a 300K home on a 3yr ARM, no money down, with stated income wasn't a good practice.... say it ain't so... Bad Public Policy, Fast and Loose Mortgage Writing, and a Dumbass Public that doesn't have a clue about leverage the fickle B word when they sign off at closing... I can't imagine where is all went wrong.... -

That doesn't make any sense. For example, people vote for Conservatives, both POTUS and Congress because they desire conservative policies.... liberals are in the minority and can obstruct with procedurals such as filibuster.... the minority doesn't get steamrolled and unless a party has a Supermajority like the Democrats had in 2008, it is not easy to get anyting through to law (aside from bills that garner both R and D support from the start) I would say the intent was making it hard to accomplish anything, protecting all citizens against a quick, regulation and law making government. Interesting that same protection makes fixing problems just as cumbersome and ineffective... -

I would imagine most of those people who support "30M for rescue plans" and "4B to keep police on the street" see this as domestic defense, domestic safety effort and a well justified outlay. Conincindentially, one of the few reponsibilties of government is to protect it citizenry. -

If the seeds maintain the properties designed by Monsanto, so the crop from this year drop seeds next season that are the same, then the protection stay in tact in would suspect. The question outside of protecting their intellectual property, which under the law they protected to do so, does Monsanto have motives to have this happen to competitors, small farmers, suck them dry in court and consolidate most farms essentially cornering seed and other commodity markets? Are they any consequences to genetially modified seeds, will the public even know they have such products on their dinner tables because Lobby interests get politicians to forgo lableing requrements? I assume Monsanto and other corporate Ag compaines have former employees or friends in the USDA, EPA, you name it. I don't know for sure, but this farmer is screwed. -

Some Americans take offense to being told what they can and cannot do or own... I get that... but they do have to realize the are not on the side where the support is- while Joe is often the punching bag of most conservatives, his statement is probably in line with popular public support of gun control measures. http://www.gallup.com/poll/160085/americans-back-obama-proposals-address-gun-violence.aspx?utm_source=alert&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=syndication&utm_content=morelink&utm_term=All%20Gallup%20Headlines%20-%20Crime%20-%20Government%20-%20Law%20and%20Order%20-%20Politics -

We grow a lot of our own herb, vegetables, potatoes (which don't yield a ton, maybe is Colorado soil).... And we try to jar or freeze stuff that we get from farmers markets in the summer, its amazing how long you can stretch produce if you don't mind it not being fresh but frozen. I will say when you grow your own produce, it tends to be smaller, different color and taste much better. Most of the Farms here are on the Western Slope, so pretty far from our house in Denver. That is why we stock up the best we can at farmers markets.... Especially palisade peaches..... Oh daddy, they're so good... We don't eat beef, chicken or pork, but we do buy our salmon from a small distributor in the Northwest, and get out shellfish from a company that sells direct from the gulf coast.... Both are personal referrals from friends in the business, its amazing how different the quality and freshness is.... The shrimp does have any smell to it like you find in grocery stores, or have that weird scent of whatever preservative they wash it in, or at least I think they do....bicarbonate r something.

Don't hate because all you can afford is the gutter Walmart shopping experience.... And there are very few like products that fill Walmart and Costco shelves.... But nice try Walmart: just a proud American story of sucking the life out local business communities and being the retail trough were poor, mindless Americans fall all over themselves on garbage Chinese imports and seafood from the sewers of Thailand, while the Walton's don't have enough time to count their fortune and their employees drown on minimum wage, **** benefits and no hope for the future.... And we wonder why we have no many people on the public roles, and have out of control entitlements....

There are a lot of examples of conscious capitalism, I'm sure of it, but its better news to report on the companies that see pay ratios hundreds:1.... And that have reputations for working customers over... Ben and Jerry's is another example of a company that I believe Amy's employees pretty well and whose CEO job is not a cash pot...

I'd love one manual labor in my life.... I'd love to come home tired and hungry, instead of depressed and resentful.... -
I agree 100% on that underlined portion, but I am interested in youor thoughts on it from another angle. Instead of governemnt sponsored training programs, why not give companies direct subsidies/ steep tax incentive to hire people who have rough skills, and let them train the person to the specific skills they need. I have come to be fond of on the job training- its like in College where they really preparr you for nothing in most instances, where you actually learn the job is on the job.

But isn't that like in the election when Mitt Romney was talking about cutting PBS funding, liberals were bent and argued that is was such a tiny amount, but conservative argued that drops in the bucket are still drops in the bucket? Isn't incremental progress downward better than expansion of the deficits?

How motivated are you when you work for nothing? I am certainly not. As it is on the outside, you get a sense of self worth by working and earning even if you are in a federal "pound me in the ass" prison there is a portion of the population that is always going to be defective, rape, steal, snort PCP, murder... I am sure there is good basis for paying prisoners a paltry amount to earn extras.... -
Krugman's argument for stimulus and alot of it makes sense, if: 1. The US had a much lower long-term debt 2. We are typically fiscally reponsible in the good times, and in the bad times borrowing a spending makes sense because we will pay it back when the econmy improves. While I think either way healthcare will drive this country to the brink of insolvency as the boomer retire (or we will become a nation of the Healthcare have's and have nots) whether or not it is Medicare/ Medicaid or Private Insurance, I think its a poor stance to take that we shoudl only focus on the short-term, when there are things we can do to long-term outlook to ease the fiscal burdens...

A huge amount of doctors are also closing their stand alone pratices and going to work for a physcian group, many affilited with major healthcare systems, because they can see pateints and not worry about malpratice coverage, rent, staffing, etc- they make less, but the freedom is much better. Its probably not much different than a small grocery story throwing in the towel when walmat pops up, to hard to compete when you are so small. -

1. Medicare was created because it was almost impossible to find a priavte insurer who would write a policy on an aging citizen 2. Medicare is adminstratively very easy to work with and less expensive compared to commercial carriers. 3. Medicare is Popular with enrolees. 4. Patients should have the option of forgoing MC and enrolling in commercial insurance, but good luck finding it when most Medicare aged citziens aleady have an uninsurable application -

B, a lot of Americans agree with the VP: http://www.washingtonpost.com/page/2010-2019/WashingtonPost/2013/01/14/National-Politics/Polling/release_192.xml I will post Monday a study that was done in 2006 about the effectiveness of the Assault Weapons ban of 94... It's interesting, there is little to no evidence that the ban would stop mass shootings, since the occurrence was very rare until recently. Also, the most effective reduction in violent gun crime came in the category of semi automatic assault pistols, like the Tec-9 with what they define as LCM, large capacity magazines- but that was typically usage in criminal behavior- I have the study on my desktop at work, it was a good read
