The NFL Network, Gettin' their game on
DieHardFan replied to BuffaloWings's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've got Adelphia now and hope to keep the NFL channel too but: a) Why call the NFL network to ask TW (TWC = The Weather Channel) to carry them. Why not just call TW? b) Does no one see the irony and hypocrisy that the NFL only offers the ticket on DTV (and then only to a subset that they demand carry a full subscription). Not to mention the blackout rule that is bastardized to the point that an area 180 miles from the stadium can still be blacked out. Call the NFL channel (a pawn of the NFL) and demand that the ticket be offered on all outlets and the blackout rule be dropped. -
Best Way to Buy Away Game Tickets?
DieHardFan replied to coywire27's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It depends on how many tickets you are looking for. Finding singles at a game is rarely a problem. Hotel packages are going to be costly but you can usually find a bus shuttle that you catch at a name hotel (with tickets if cost is no object). Have taken it a few times in Miami. Beers flow but it's usually a 3:1 Bills crowd so it's OK. Saves having to drive after too many beers but the problem is that it can add a couple of hours of bus time on each end. [Now I usually just drive up Dairy Ivy (?) road and park on a side street about a 1/4 mile from the stadium. Costs $5 to have one of the 10 yo ghetto boys on bikes make sure the car stays safe but it's cheaper than stadium parking and a much faster return trip.] -
Talked to an adelphia rep while he was resetting my HD box a few months ago and asked about the NFL network. He seemed to think that the contract was tied to the local franchise and that if I had it now it would remain. This makes some sense since if you review the adelphia line-ups by area the offering vary. [ Plus it gives me some hope. ] Hope it's along term deal. BTW in my area the digital version of the NFL network is offered along with the analog but no HD. Anyone seen it on cable in HD?

I don't know which is worse VAginaBILLS for posting such an obvious Flashing Neon Troll (If you had let Rich's subtle tweak lie it would have done the trick) or the usual suspects who you knew even before they posted would bite so hard they would hit bone. Supports my theory that technical aptitude drowns common sense. Very sad. BTW, thanks for the heads up ajzepp. Titan TV's list of showings for the next two weeks follows. anyone use stubhub for ticket purchases
DieHardFan replied to The Poojer's topic in Off the Wall Archives
In general you would expect Ebay to be cheaper (I see in this case it wasn't) due to their greater volume and name recognition and lower overhead but StubHub is the safest. StubHub is a true broker that withholds payment until the buyer has their tickets in hand. Also has the seller's CC # in case it has to collect. Didn't know they had pick-up locations. Usually use pre-paid Fed-Ex. -
IMO this story (found on the link page) is even worse PC. American Flag And the best story link on the page is: TBD Brand Humor (Safe for Work)

Suggestion on Streamlining Topics
DieHardFan replied to DieHardFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So I conclude from the comments that: 1) I'm probably the only person that feels this way. 2) This post is like a venus fly trap for the top 10 high posting, low IQ'd, AZZHoles. (please take that a a compliment). 3) No one else gives a rat's azz. Thank you for you input (and for not banishing it to the consumer forum.) -

Suggestion on Streamlining Topics
DieHardFan replied to DieHardFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just to clarify (I can be unclear at times) I'm just advocating allowing the topic originator to have the option. Veering off course is ok even a good thing but three pages of "You're an ****" "No you're an ****" gets old fast and there are alot of posters that feel that they need the last word in these type of battles. I agree but don't think that this would contribute significantly to that problem. Once the spotlight is off the attention grabber I doubt they will get many others wanting to view a battle of (nit)wits. As always all comments are just IM(never)HO. -
I don't know if anyone else feels this way but I am getting frustrated at the number of topics that get hi-jacked, usually by 2 -4 posters who use it to argue with each other about subjects that many times have nothing to do with the post's topic. (ie minor example that prompted this: http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?showtopic=46969 ) I'm not against the discussions, just start a new post. Is it possible to add an option under the OPTIONS > MODERATOR OPTIONS that lets the topic originator delete non relevant posts? Optimally a line would show that a response by xyz was deleted by the original poster. If so and the mods are willing is anyone else interested in this? [And yes I'm prepared for the number of wannabe witty responses that may follow.] [Mod's please give this a chance and don't banish this to the consumer or complaint area for at least a day. Thanks.]

JSP; a prime example of the (90% correct) adage that intelligence and number of post is inversely proportional. -
Ticket Office REMAINS Dysfunctional
DieHardFan replied to DieHardFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As an update I was able to login about 8:58 and the system proceessed requests as would be expected with a typical ticketmaster transaction. Found 4 for Packers then tried to get another 4 (for Pats) but on checkout the (to become well known) transaction error page came up and it kicked me off to the login page. After a minute or so of system busy loops logged in again and then went through about 2 minutes of "too busy" loops until I was able to find and purchase the 4 Pats tickets. Tried to get my last two (only 10 per account) and knew enough to login again and went through same scenario as above until I got two to the Packers game. Hit another can't proceed loop which made me log in and retrace my steps which I encountered several times but finally got to the order screen. Went through the order screen with specific tickets identified and was able to enter all CC info and got to the processing page. After about a minute an error page saying: Sorry, your request could not be completed at this time. [Also tried phone during this period but either got busy signal or all circuits busy recording.] Not detered repeated the above paragraph another 5 times getting progressively slightly worse tickets each pass and the got same result each time. Possibly the system counted the first aborted transcation as a sale and I had reached my limit, although this message never appeared. All in all better operationally than last year (although the new class separation rule kinda irked me) but still could use improvement. How did everyone else make out? -
Once again it's the start of ind ticket sales for season ticket holders and once again it's SNAFU. Tried to get in yesterday to make sure account info was in order and they had locked down all accounts EXCEPT for premium STHs; who could buy yesterday. Sales for plebe STHs is supposed to start at 9am but my account (at least) is still locked. Wonder which one of Ralph's daughters runs this operation?

I watched The Sopranos for the first time
DieHardFan replied to Like A Mofo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There was a definite smirk. Bobby has always been a mope, the only reason he was promoted from Jr's errand boy was his wife's death and the subsequent Janice connection. Can you imagine what would happen to AJ if he mouthed off like that in front of guests? Bobby's always getting digs for being a poor earner and just does his Lumpy impression whever TS gets in his face about that or ridicules him for his model train hobby. I thought maybe he was going to blossom a little after he got in Paulie's face last week but TS didn't even feign sympathy when he didn't have enough brains to keep away from ghettotown after dark and got mugged by the bunch of wanna-be punks this week. Could be a misdirection but that's not charactoristic of how the show usually lays out a plot. -

D) As far as he knows he's on the whack list for either being queer and/or being AWOL. -
It may turn out to be a pivitol plot episode but for me it sure dragged on last night. Consider the Sopranos a 9+ and the West Wing a 6 or 7 but to be honest I enjoyed the WW episode much more last night.

If you hit F3 the same thing happens and the Help window opens if you hit F1... and this same damn problem happens in IE too. It's not an issue if you have focus on something that actually requires input (like this reply box. ///// / / See; no Find when I do it in here.) If you really want to get rid of it I hear that hitting the CNTL ALT and DEL keys simultaneously a couple of times will disable it.

Tell your Cable Provider you want the NFL Network
DieHardFan replied to OnTheRocks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lineups vary even with the same carrier (ie Adelphia-Utica does not offer NFLNet-HD just analog and digital versions). Was told by an Adelphia phone rep that if you have NFL network now it would stay. What do you mean ajzepp? The switch happened in your area and you lost the NFL channel? I didn't think AD->TW switch was made anywhere yet. -

Hmmm, a drug that gets the wife to babble less AND make her forget what she was bitching about. Sounds like a wonder drug to me. BTW: Good PSA on danger of latest dangerous drug dejour but topic title is lame. Makes it sound like you are bitching about lard asses not drugs. Lame topics need teasers to get them opened. This is not the case here. -
Wait until next week. Baby trump follows the antics of Goldrush and spells out his comments with drool.

If you find out let me know. Probably an attention grabbing ploy similar to titling a post with a half posed question so someone has to open it to know it wasn't worth opening. Maybe you should email Andy Rooney.
