  1. Just have the refs call 37 penalties against the Chiefs on Sunday. Problem solved.
  2. It's a wretched place. The worst of the worst.
  3. I took a line drive to the face while pitching a high school game. No permanent damage, but I was more than content to play center field after that...lol.
  4. This situation is really a fluke type thing that could happen in any sport where contact is made. Having said that, my kids aren't playing football, mostly because I haven't steered them towards it. I wanted to play as a kid, but was advised against it for my own personal medical reasons. My Dad was a very good football player, but also told me not to play - said it wasn't much fun and you could end up with a lot of long term pain. Now that I'm older, I don't regret not having played at all. High school basketball and baseball were more than enough to keep me active and teach me the value of teamwork.
  5. It was obviously very traumatic, but it was a fluke and Hamlin is almost certainly going to survive. I feel pretty confident that the team will rally in his absence.
  6. I'm not saying you don't have an argument. Just saying there's no easy answer from a fairness standpoint. I wouldn't be surprised if the Bills voluntarily request/accept a forfeit given the good nature shown by the Bengals and the rest of the league to be honest. We are still only about 17 hours out from the actual incident and the NFL/Bills/Bengals don't want to distract from the fact that one of their own is fighting for his life. I think everyone is just waiting on a positive Damar update and then everything will be sorted out shortly thereafter. Based on similar medical situations I've witnessed and the little bits of info that have come out from Damar's spokesperson, I suspect that we are only 24-36 hours from truly positive and inspiring news regarding Damar's prognosis and a potential statement from Damar himself.
  7. My bad. Thanks for the correction on that. 👍
  8. How is awarding the Bengals a win for a 4 point lead 10 minutes into a 60 minute game fair to the Ravens who are still fighting for a division championship? Unfortunately, there's really no "fair" way to go about it if the game isn't played. Awarding no contests and going by winning percentage is probably the best they can do at this point from a logistics standpoint. The Chiefs are the big winners in this scenario. The Bills are both losers (lose 1 seed) and winners (secure 2 seed) and the same for the Bengals (gifted the division title, but lose out on potential 1 or 2 seed). The Ravens get screwed the worst I suppose, but they are still in the playoffs.
  9. So everyone gets a bye other than possibly the Bills and Bengals? I just can't see that happening.
  10. I think they should call it a "no contest" and award both teams "wins" with regards to conference tie breakers/seeding only, or go simply off of conference records (win percentage) to determine the seeding. There is no way the Chiefs should benefit from what occurred last night, especially considering they've already lost to both teams.
  11. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Much love to you and your family.
  12. Possibly, but kids die in little league games from getting hit in the chest with a baseball like Damar did last night. It was an incredibly fluke thing that we witnessed. How many routine hits have we seen like that in the history of the game where the guys pop right back up? Millions? It was the equivalent of seeing a guy get struck by lightning on the field. I think the players and fans will come to understand and accept this as the week progresses and the shock begins to wane.
  13. Tip your hat to Cincy. They started fast and loose, but we've seen that not infrequently against this Bills defense and then we tend to tighten things up. I think we were in store for a classic game before the injury to Damar.
  14. I think we all feel that way right now, but given the recent word that his vitals are stable, I truly believe Damar will bounce back and will want his brothers to see this through for him, and we will be right there cheering them on. It was a completely freak accident that we witnessed. Thank God there was great medical help immediately available there on the field to ensure the best outcome possible.
  15. I had someone very close to me go into full cardiac arrest for over 12 minutes. He was put into a medically induced coma, intubated and cooled. 2 days later he was up and walking around his hospital room and he's gone on to make a full recovery. Based on what we're hearing now, I'm hoping we hear similarly good news by tomorrow afternoon. If that's the case, Bills could be finishing this game on Wednesday morning. Then move the final week games to Monday.
  16. He and AVP doing a great job. Comforting watching those fellas.
  17. This exact thing happened to my neighbor involved in a motocross accident.
  18. NFL looks like a bunch of creeps ATM. Should have already called it.
  19. This is a cardiac event. Could happen with any sport, anywhere, at any time.
  20. Sure, I think they "can" win, but I don't feel great about our chances if we have to go on the road for the last two rounds of the playoffs. I think I really need to see the Bills (and most importantly, Josh) play well tonight to fully restore the confidence I had in them from earlier in the season. I'm super happy that we've continued to stack wins despite not playing our best ball of late, but it's getting to the point now where I want to see us turn it up a notch as we head into the postseason. Tonight is hopefully the first step.
  21. See below/attached for Bills' results when Poyer sees the field...
  22. They are still on the upward trajectory of the elite team cycle. It's like the feeling we had about the 1990 Bills (who won games in all sorts of ridiculous "lucky" ways) versus say the 92 or 93 teams. Nothing short of a Super Bowl will be considered a success for this current Bills team, so it's easier to nitpick, fret over any and all imperfections, and just generally forget to "enjoy the ride."
  23. They have one of the worst SOVs in the entire league and had a -28 point differential heading into yesterday's game against the woeful Colts. Daboll has done a nice job, but they are a product of their weak schedule and quite a bit of luck in close games. They are the spitting image of the 2017 Buffalo Bills. Also, Hodgins is averaging 10 ypc. He will never be a star, lol. He's David Nelson.
  24. I'm usually pretty laidback, but I'm sort of dreading tonight. We haven't played a very good team since the Chiefs game, so it's hard to say where we're at with regards to the rest of the top dogs at the moment. The games against average-to-above-average teams have all been relative nail biters. Obviously, I believe we can win, but in the back of my mind there's this little voice telling me that we are due for a complete dud of a game where everything seems to go wrong. This being a big primetime game gives me some comfort at least since we seem to save our best for these moments. By the way, if we lose tonight, any chance we'd rest our starters (aka manufacture our own "bye week") next week? I think I'd rather face the Ravens at home in the first round than have to play the Dolphins for a third time.
  25. What a BS call by the refs! Boo!
