  1. Muffed punt was big. Couple good returns by sproles.with several poorly timed defensive penalties, they still played pretty well I though. Offensively, Tyrol needs to get first downs and keep us on the field. 3rd and 9 go ahead and rip it. But 3rd and 3 with an easy running lane? Take what they give you!
  2. He didn't have to throw it to him, or throw it poorly. Give some blame to the qb and receiver.
  3. False starts from his spot are unacceptable... But he absolutely blew that gap open
  4. We've stopped them several times. Horrible penalty followed by busted coverage. Several offsides penalties too... Not sure how u coach veterans to not jump offsides. Not a great game plan. But we're in it against a team were probably close to equal with in terms of talent
  5. He's slow and not good. Isn't anything anybody did, he's just worse than last year
  6. Losing the turnover battle... Gave them a few extra chances. Bad penalties. Clean it up, still in the game
  7. Fire graham?? Or Darby?? They're the ones who screwed up there
  8. Total screw up when u know they're going to at least look deep
  9. Not sure what people want... Blitzes? Man coverage? We didn't do anything well on that drive... Not a single man
  10. Blame the coaches for the 10 year vet getting a terrible penalty on 3rd and 8... Can't give a team like this tons of chances
  11. And who knows whos playing QB if marrone stays, or schwartz gets promoted? We might have fired Whaley - signed polian and traded the farm for RG3. We are where we are. But Rex surely factors in bringing in players more than people think. Who knows? He might have thought highly of darby... We don't know whats going on - we don't know if rex or thurman is making the calls - we dont know anything. We can speculate sure - but what i do know... is were still in it this year despite playing a fairly tough schedule, and dropping winnable games here and there.
  12. Remember Aaron Williams kyle Williams and non fat Mario Williams? What about searcy? He was good. Well plug in an old corner and duke Williams can step in if needed. Hes not utterly clueless. Or Rambo, who's a ud fa and largely hit or miss. We lost our best 2 rotational backups in camp, one who Rex was rotating in with the 1s. No big deal at all. Exact same defense right?? We added Darby so we should be better! Cmon man... Injuries happen and have a pretty big effect on what ur trying to do sometimes. Rex has put up a couple stinkers sure, but I thought Houston was a pretty good game for our guys. It's clear were gonna struggle with 2nd and 3rd string linebackers and safeties in this system. And Mario should keep it out of the media, he's playing poorly and needs to own that.
  13. Yikes.... Kind of agree with him. At least about the media blowing everything up
  14. Look at the 4 best defensive games we played last year - Jets Browns Jets Texans Probably like 12 turnovers in those games, and like 15-20 sacks. That's a lot of stuff against 4 bad offenses. It tends to even out over a season. Look, i'll agree we played better last year - but we weren't this all world defense. That was 1999. This team's missing something, and part of me thinks they need a better on field signal caller. They seem late and confused far too often, and that can't all be on the HC/DC.
  15. and in the games we lost - the wide 9 was exposed by fast shifty backs who expose the gaps it creates - or accurate QBs who get the ball out quickly and exploit the predictability of it (man coverage a lot of the time - really easy to read if its 1 or 2 high safeties - linebackers line up with who theyre covering).
  16. He wants to stop the run. That is very clear. He was able to blitz NE because they don't have good running backs or deep threats. No need for a center fielder. Stopping the run keeps them in longer conversions - longer conversions mean holding the ball. holding the ball means sacks. The problem now is the backup linebackers and safeties are playing a lot more, and they are giving up those extra few yards. Injuries on the line mean less rotation means more gassed linemen. As for Schwartz, had a very low blitz% The wide 9 allows them to just get after it, especially in games where were crushing the opponent. We got a ton of sacks against bad qbs. We had i think 11 or 12 sacks and 7 of our turnovers on the geno/vick dumpster fire that rex was left with in NY last year. Throw in some of our garbage time stuff against NE and it can look less dominant stat wise. looking at the games we lost last year - SD - Rivers picked us apart with precision quick passes - which happened a bunch of times this year as well. Houston - EJ Manuel game - we probably should have won (we have 1 of those this year as well) NE - Brady destroyed us with precision quick passes again KC - 127 yards rushing allowed (Bryce brown fumble game - we had 6 sacks but lost the turnover battle) Miami - 5 sacks - yet they scored the last 19 points in what i remember thinking that tannehill might be good. Oh and 125 yards rushing allowed Denver - 133 yards rushing allowed and 3 tds - 0 sacks in that one Oak- 140 yards rushing
  17. I find them to be really inconsistent. They'll stop you for a loss here and there, but they'll give up 20 and 30 yard gashes here and there too. Houstons backs are terrible, and we made them look - still pretty bad, but better than they are.
  18. Hey - they rushed 4 all game like everyone wanted. They just never get any pressure, and he had all day to pick us apart. The linebackers can't cover anyone, and the safeties are mediocre. When they stopped hoyer, they were blitzing and creating pressure causing errant throws. So its actually the Rex Ryan quirks of the defense that jump started the defense. Not the pin the ears back and rush 4 Jim Schwartz aspect of the defense.
  19. Dareus has to play the nose with K-will hurt - which he doesnt want to do. But he's better than bryant/whoever else. Mario/Hughes are OLBs in this defense - they will have to cover from time to time to take away hot receivers on certain blitz packages. Mario should be playing 3-4 End at his size- but he wants to rush the passer not plug gaps. That means he has to drop into coverage. We're not going to design a defense around an over the hill DE playing OLB. Blitzing too often results in big plays given up - and we were fairly sure hoyer was going to be hoyer and not beat us. Once gilmore went out it was clear hopkins was going to get his on darby (interference or not). The biggest thing i notice with all the backup linemen/backers is that we're struggling with the run game. That is supposed to be the biggest strength. We want them to get stuffed on every run play so they have long conversions on 3rd down, and keep our guys off the field.
  20. He did it against the jets - made a play when we needed one. We need Sammy to step on those tough 3rd downs in the 3rd and 4th quarter. Demand that tyrod looks his way and makes the play.
  21. I could see restructuring K williams. The team seems to lack a vocal leader with him out. They also need a solid SS who can thump.
