  1. The best 2 players available are Suh and McCoy - neither hit comp pick formulas - and neither has a ring. Seems like they'll either go where they can get overpaid on a 1yr deal, or go to a contender with space. Cleveland, Indy, Seattle look like good destinations. More cap than buffalo in 2019 - anticipated playoff teams - spot to start without a competition. I expect both to wait a bit to sign though - why go to OTAs and camp if you dont have to? As i wrote this it said the bucs are trying to sign Suh. Must be cheaper than McCoy?
  2. afaik there is no new money hitting the 2019 cap - but sportrac hasn't been updated yet. Would be adds for 2020 and 2021 He's also like - a big buffalo guy. This isn't a street free agent overpay. Its a guy 2 years in with McD who wants to be here.
  3. This is all not factoring in releasing some roster bubble guys, keeping some UDFAs, etc. This is how much we save by cutting any of these guys. You have to bring up any of the guys who get paid like 500k or less when factoring it in as we have 27 mil in cap space per the top 51. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/cap/ Dimarco 1.1 Waddle 1.6 Kevin johnson 2.3 Bodine 2.3 Stanford 1.4 and the big one would be shady - that'd save 6.3 if we felt he wasn't going to help the team this year (i don't think there's a reason to cut him unless the new guys outplay him)
  4. A fair amount of Pass rusher's tend to continue to play well into their 30s though. It's not like running backs or WRs where speed is king.
  5. 5 d-line in the 1st since 2011. 2 Safeties in the first since 2014 (2 in rounds 1 and 2 in 2017). 1 MLB in 2016. 1 corner. Its hard to fathom how little they have prioritized WR and Oline in the draft. Their 3rd round pick for an olineman is the highest oline player drafted since 2010 (vlad ducasse).
  6. This take is kind of bad - It's as if there could be no bearing on the opposition or the talent around him for things to change. The fact that the chargers played the number 1 defense in football yardage wise... would have nothing to do with an increased percentage in interceptable passes, or a decrease in deep completion percentage. Or the fact that the week 17 game was basically meaningless as the chiefs were playing the raiders.... Also - deep completion percentage requires ya know... people to catch the balls.
  7. Yeah - there were 3 that stick out. NE just ran it up and down the field. The Jax game before fournette got tossed. And the Marlon Mack game. What's so stunning when looking at some of the defenses stats - We lost to Miami, and Houston and both had like 200 yards. Then there was the bears game where we somehow lost by 30 to a team with less than 200 yards on offense. I remember the end of the season but man, its easy to forget how lost this team was on offense even with Josh Allen.
  8. Yeah - guy cost me in the fantasy playoffs. I had a rash of injuries and needed something from Curtis Samuel week 15 and got like 2 when i needed 8. And then Kyle Allen and Heinicke weren't that bad so it was just... why are you starting a QB who can't make like any NFL throws?!
  9. What lineman would you keep on the 53? We kept 9 a year ago so assuming the same it would be Dawkins, Spain, Morse, Ford, Nseshke - with 4 backups Long as a swing g/c, feliciano, waddle as a backup swing tackle, and maybe teller as a younger project.
  10. I don't get the Adam Gase love. Without Peyton Manning he's never really had a good offense. People talk about him like he's magic with QBs... which ones? The Hall of famer who was basically calling plays and protections at the lines? He certainly didn't work any magic with Cutler and Tannehill.
  11. I'm definitely in the minority but I don't hate the Gettleman moves- The Jones draft pick was... bad. Moving on from Vernon wasn't bad though. As for losing ODB - they never won anything with him - and I think the comp they got was appropriate considering the brown trade before. Letting Collins walk sucks too. However........... They replaced ODB jr. with Tate (net loss, but they at least replaced him with a solid vet), Jones gets to sit a year behind Manning (overdrafted, but doesn't mean he can't be successful with the right coaching), Collins got replaced in the ODB trade (peppers is a nice throw-in player), and the trade helped them up front on offense. They're honestly probably about the same as they were a year ago, and better set up for the future. They now have a top-3 nfl running back, a QB of the future, and some pieces to improve a mediocre old defense. They drafted beal with a 3rd round supplemental in 2018, and drafted Baker in the 1st this year which should ideally give them some corners to build around. Lawrence should anchor the d-line. The previous structured team with beckham made the playoffs in 1 of 5 years - the 1 year their defense didn't suck.
  12. I believe its an attempt to set up a more play action style offensive approach - both in the red zone and in general. As for red zone rushing - The average was massively boosted by Josh Allen scrambles and draws, as well as some gimmick stuff with McKenzie. So basically Buffalo was incapable of rushing the ball in the red zone. That's likely also a symptom of a problem at 3rd and 4th and short in general. The improvements to the line help - but the tight end group has been pretty bad for a while. Clay never provided anywhere near the value of his contract.
  13. I think the red zone and short yardage game could use some improvement. I also think Buffalo wants to play more under center this year than last year. Helps having a competent extra blocker in some of those play action situations. Also allows some flex to use the backs more in the passing game.
  14. I love it - I can't even complain when he does it. He's like never fumbled handling the ball like that.
  15. Agree! He gets to play CB2 there behind ward. They also have a solid pass rush with vernon, richardson, garrett - and bring in a solid offense. He's set up to have a good rookie year.
  16. The pre-injury josh allen games weren't pretty. But a full camp would do wonders for him - he had to split reps 3 ways last year in camp. Ravens disaster. Chargers beatdown. Shutout by the packers. The bears and colts games were just... comic fails. The patriots one reads as a blowout but it was what 12-6 entering the 4th quarter? I like the performance of the defense overall. But a few games really got away from them - and that needs to get cleaned up for them to be a contender. 3 times teams ran for 200+ on us. That doesn't happen if they're elite. As for the offense - 8 games sub 300 yards of offense, 2 games sub 200! 7 games with 3 or more turnovers. We didn't win a game when we turned it over more than once.
  17. Miami had a large net loss of free agents - they don't know who their QB will be (which affects everyone as we saw last year - reps are important in camp for young QBs especially). Parker, stills, wilson sounds good on paper - then you watch them play and none of them ever seems to do anything that amazing. Oline had net losses. Drake i like - but i also find it strange that he gets outcarried by others every year. Wilkins fits right in - but no wake means they'll have no pass rush. They have solid safeties but i expect teams to carve them up. There's nothing to fear on that team from a defensive perspective, and while fitz is capable of good games and putting the team on his back - the turnovers will always doom him. As for rosen, its not a good situation to be starting for another team that isn't crazy strong up front, doesn't have a strong run game, and was a bottom 5 offense with Tannehill. They didn't really bring in anyone to improve that bottom 5 offense either so... it's not looking promising. I would also not be surprised to see them move on from a WR during camp or pre-deadline.
  18. I think there are teams who have recognized when they have a good thing - they're consistently competitive, and have had multiple Head coaches under their tenure. Spielman would be a good example with Minnesota, Telesco with the chargers, Pace with Chicago, Dimitroff in Atlanta. Snead was a good example of a hiring where you gave them the keys to a complete overhaul, same with schneider in Seattle. Not all crazy amounts of success - but they have all been around for a while and have had some misses/bad years.
  19. Yup... here's a few others who played at smaller schools and have had NFL impact. Level of competition isn't always going to dictate success at the NFL level. Tarik Cohen (North Carolina A&T), Rashad Penny (San Diego State), Marlon Mack (South Florida), Aaron Jones (UTEP), David Johnson (Northern Iowa)
  20. Interesting to hear about shady - showing up to camp after all that drama - then having injury issues throughout the year. Just a rough year all around and I'm sure he wants to put it behind him.
  21. Why is adam gase a QB guru? Manning, cutler, and tannehill. And Manning was probably more the playcaller than Gase was.
  22. He'll play some - He was under 50% of defensive snaps as the starter so... who knows how much he plays in a 4-3.
  23. Whats notable is we were always up against the cap based off of free agent acquisitions. Which usually doesn't equate to wins.
  24. I like it - Duke Williams seems like he could worst case contribute on special teams.
