I watched the game. I didn't feel the team was capable, but that doesn't mean its over man. I've played football, crazy stuff happens all the time. They weren't in some crazy prevent defense, they didn't try and run the clock out with a 2 score lead or something on their last possession. It was very much still a game.

Just saying - even kicking, it became a 1 score game. Garbage time implies there is no way they come back. It was a 2 score game with 9 minutes left - they scored on the drive. If they got the ball back they can tie the game. Nothing that happened on preceding drives should have any bearing on the remainder of the game. All it takes is one mistake, one player making a play etc. and its a tie game. I'm open to whatever, Daboll says he calls the game based on the opponent. They were sitting in zone, get moving running into it until they adjust. Instead we have our linemen pass block on 8 QB draws. I feel like some of the other runs were trap runs as well, there wasn't anything power or inside/outside zone.

20-10 with 10 minutes left isn't garbage time to me. He had 7 carries into the 4th quarter, and Breida had 2. 51 pass attempts, 3 sacks, I think 1 of the runs was a scramble. so actually 55 pass plays vs 24 run plays. So about 70/30 pass run split, and 33% of the runs were designed QB draws. That adjustment can help open up things though. If they're bringing LB's and S's closer to the LOS, you can create space behind them. I think we were shocked with how much zone they ran, and how much pressure they got simply with their front 4. This team blitzed and manned up a year ago, and we came in with a game plan of spreading them out to create mismatches. Instead they sat in zones and tackled really well. Pittsburgh blitzed once, and pressured allen 20 times. There were some screen calls, but not enough imo - I know allen missed beasely on the one, but I'd have liked to see more here. Buffalo ran 8 PA plays total in the game. Play action can create space in the zones. Missed opportunity there as well.

Can the Bills win a SB without a killer instinct

Can the Bills win a SB without a killer instinct

It was a tight game that was blown open by a blocked punt. Last season it was a tight game blown open by a pick 6. The season before it was a tight game, a 22 yard punt and tre pick gave buffalo field position for buffalo to score - and it still took buffalo stopping duck hodges twice in the last 5 minutes and 2 redzone picks to win that game. I just look at it like its two teams that are fairly well matched in what they try to do. Our weakness meets their strength and vice versa. -
Steelers Blocked Punt Schematic
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A chiefs player would have to touch it beyond the LOS for cleveland to be able to recover it. Otherwise it's a conclusion of the play and down. Cleveland could recover it, however they would need to advance it beyond the marker to gain. -
Interesting Josh Allen Stat

Whats the split from 2018 to 2019 to 2020? I count 0-5 in 2018, if you include ravens. 0-4 if you don't. 2-6 in 2019-2020 2019 Patriots - Blocked punt was the difference. Allen didn't finish this game. Ravens. Super windy, couple of missed plays on defense were the difference. Eagles. Blowout, defense couldn't stop the run. Also windy as hell. Jets - He barely played but you either count this one or the ravens one in 2018. It's listed in his 2019 record so i assume it does? 2020 Titans and chiefs x2. I don't need to explain them i don't think. A lot was on the defense in all 3 as much as Allen. -
ESPN's MNF broadcast is unwatchable

It was kind of messy but interesting. They need to focus a bit more, maybe have fewer guests? Watch the game more is the big thing. Also the guests almost seemed like they had no plan. The white board idea is cool but u have to keep the game on the screen. They also have whiteboards you can hold in ur hand, might be easier to use. While also being on screen. -

At times they weren't watching at all. It was strange, but its different. Kinda fun at times -
We sucked against Pitt last year too. And we built the entire gameplan yesterday around their heavy blitz scheme in the 2020 game. This year they didn't blitz and we didn't adjust to create space in the zones or create time for allen to operate. the packers got blown out yesterday, and i fully expect them to be a playoff team.

My Opinion why we lost vs pittsburgh
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to steven50's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They beat them the last 2 seasons, and a lot of it was based on takeaways. 5 takeaways in 2019 and we won 17-10. A pick 6 is probably the difference in 2020 when they won 26-15, massive shift in momentum. there. This time, buffalos takeaway is taken off the board, and pitt blocked a punt. Allen has consistently struggled against pittsburgh in the last 3 years, its not like we shouldn't expect it. Its a top 5 defense in the NFL, and just generally they match up well with Buffalo's offense/playcalling - good physical corners, smart safeties, great pass rush. -

I'd say punt block. It was 13-10 at that point. Pittsburghs offense was clicking but they had also been stopped in the RZ twice, and its not like a guaranteed TD on that drive. -
Star is OUT for Steelers game
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He renegotiated pre-pandemic. then opted out and kicked the can down the road. Next year the dead cap is about 5 with about 4 in space freed up by dumping him. I think they can find a comparable replacement or upgrade with the cap savings. -

You can't run play action when your offensive line is garbage. -
Good teams don't get blown out in a win and in situation - let alone in a 2nd half played by the opponents backups. That to me was their measuring stick game, and it to me looked like an 8-8 team that overachieved and won several games they shouldn't (be it key turnovers, missed FGs, blocked STs etc). Tua will be better than he was a year ago, but they have no run game which is usually a fairly important thing in QB development. Especially one who isn't particularly athletic. Their offensive line is a young group, and they're also kind of bad. Their defense is a good unit, but they aren't someone you fear. 20th in total yards, 23rd in passing, 16th in rushing. Tops in takeaways, which always ebb and flow a bit especially all the fumble recoveries. Also, as you face the better offenses - they tend to turn it over less.

A lot of these programs just recently ended. However a lot of the issues tie back to child care. With schools reopening it's easier... unless schools close again. Then what? Leave your 8 year old home for 8 hours for that 120 bucks a day? Or do you need a job with some flexibility to work from home? What does that person do? What of the person who was laid off during the pandemic? I agree they have had ample time to find something, but if they haven't - they should just start over at some 15 dollar entry level job? As for specific to the Bills situation, it's a delaware north issue as much as a highmark issue. They already charge absurd prices, they can afford to pay people more. They're simply waiting out the benefits (which just expired), and will continue to pay people less. My brother worked at Delaware north in food/bev accounting, he was laid off about 3 weeks into the pandemic. There was no furlough for full time employees, and they had to interview for their jobs back, and the pay was lower. So I can imagine quite a bit of turnover there. As for the minimum wage jobs - I can work at an arby's for the same pay and not be exposed to 75000 people, many of them drunk etc. They already make like every full time employee work every home game in some capacity too. The government isn't paying them anymore, but i still think people should value themselves over that dirt poverty wage.

The amount teams use play action, and RPOs - if you shoot gaps like they did in the ray lewis days you're going to get burned a lot over the middle. -
Per Nick Wright: Bills will be a fringe contender.

I look at it like, they have a shot every year because they have a QB. It's why the playoff teams that were always there, always made it. Peyton, Brady, Rodgers, Brees, and Wilson (to a lesser extent Eli and Big Ben). I know Brees missed a couple of times, and obviously injury years. But those guys win you close games more than they lose you close games, and thats big in a short season. They didn't win all the super bowls either, but they were in the mix like every single year. Sometimes things bounce your way and sometimes they don't, but you can't win if you aren't there. -

I think cleveland could take a jump for sure. They are positioned to give KC problems though with a solid pass rush, and a super strong run game/PA. -

He's what, the best MLB buffalo has had since probably Fletcher? And fletcher's career kind of coincides with adams/williams as his DTs, and playing alongside takeo. Poz was known for a lot of the same problems in the run game, and wasn't as capable in pass coverage. Preston Brown was a jag. Kelvin Sheppard is known as the guy we traded to get hughes. Kiko had some flash, but as we've seen with him since he left buffalo he is not very good. Mitchell, Barnett, Spikes, shall i continue?
