  1. Your argument is compelling... Granted, I suppose very few here have said DON'T take a franchise guy if he's there. Even Chan and Buddy said that last year. I doubt that view has changed, however, Chan said otherwise because it's not likely that franchise guy will be there. And, even still, you don't want to keep setting your team back (that can be bad for your rookie too- not many can bring a team from the ashes like Manning did), so you want to make sure he's sitting behind a guy like Fitzpatrick, and you eliminate the need to score 30 PPG.
  2. This is a really well thought-out post. It's not fully pro-Fitzpatrick, but it's certainly not ignorant proclamation that a QB will solve all our problems- it's simply reasonable, and true. The options last year really weren't there. Not drafting a QB was smart last year because you're right: those QBs besides Newton will turn out to be just about Fitzpatrick-level. This year it still may not be a good option if the top-notch QBs are gone and we reach for mid-tier talent (essentially another Fitzpatrick). We learned that we NEED to continue to bolster our 3-4 defensive project and reduce the drops and confusion on offense. We'll have to wait and see, but I can tell you one thing- we'll be much better next year if all we have are depth, a DC, and a pass rusher.
  3. So wait, it costs more to go run 13 miles than it does to watch the Bills?
  4. He'd be worse than Trent or JP if he played for us 3 years ago. Yes. We'd hate him, and the Wood Levitre Hangman Sanchez jokes would be out of control.
  5. Gailey said he's steadily improved over the past few weeks. Although Gailey also openly admits to not knowing what's going on on defense in games.
  6. Two actually, but I see your point. So building something is predicated only on a QB? Or we can keep building to your standards for two years but then we'll make it once we draft a QB? I guess I just don't get it- at what point are we getting the QB so that we can go to the playoffs in two years? What if we make it in one year without a QB? Will you be upset?
  7. I agree that you start with a QB. That's what Indy did, and they did it to perfection. The thing most don't understand, however, is that we're not starting right now. We're halfway there and to "start" with a QB would set us back again. Build talent to win with Fitz. Then upgrade Fitz with a rookie with enough talent around him not to set us back 3 more years.
  8. I feel the worst for those two as well. I watch Chan in his press conferences and he sounds helpless and like after only two years he's catching on to the BS. Now he doesn't know how to overcome it.
  9. Geeze when I went to a game in Baltimore I thought it was the worst thing I've ever watched. I mean, the home team's star player stayed out on the field and signed autographs and did photo opts during half-time. That's taking it seriously? So seriously that the half-time adjustments aren't worth enough for the most "important" player on the field to know? Sure some of the girls were hot, but the overall experience was underwhelming at best. The 6 dollar beer I bought on Broad Street afterwards was far more worth the money.
  10. Sooner or later, to be an elite team, Fitz needs to be replaced. That said, you're a mindless Fitzhater. That much is obvious. Your post is less accurate than Fitz' worst throws. If you think that even the Great Cam Newton would have us in the playoffs and you have "no doubt" this is true, you're insane. Cam Newton isn't scoring 30 PPG with Carolina's receivers so what makes you think he'd do it here? You DO realize that's what you have to do every game to win with our supposed D, right? Fitzpatrick can't overcome the D because he's not that good. Cam couldn't do it because, well, it's not realistic anyway. Think about it. It's not hard. It's just arithmetic.
  11. I think it was something like objectificatational... er, wait, what?
  12. I think that's the point though. I think this team IS good if they can gain some depth and perhaps a DC. I think that's a lot better off than just being a bad team even when healthy.
  13. I seriously want to see him get another chance. I haven't had enough yet. He was injured his first year here, and he aggravated the same injury this year because it wasn't properly taken care of. I'd really like to see if a healthy Merriman could come back and be good. Hey, Spikes did it, right? And, although Spikes is a great player, and a MLB (not OLB), Merriman in his youth was even better at his position.
  14. Grades fair as of late, but it doesn't change the fact that if the season ended right now, Fitz would be in the Pro Bowl
  15. That guy is always pretty hilarious
  16. Same here, I cheered so loud when he scored that TD- it was like, I dunno, a win for us.
  17. This thing looks entirely unpractical and unnecessary.
  18. I legitimately crack up when I watch these pressers.
  19. You can argue with them alot. But if our defense is improved, I'll buy 13-3, why not? I freakin' love this team. Why why why why why why why? Really, WHY? Why does everyone think the Cowboys have a chance? They are AWFUL.
  20. Wasn't it Marvin Lewis?
  21. I played baseball all 4 years of high school and loved it. BUT watching pro games makes me cringe. I need a lot of beer to stay for 9 innings. Oh, and I only think about going if they say there'll be fireworks afterwards. Fireworks are awesome
  22. I see dismantled as another team keeping them at bay all game by directly exploiting their weaknesses.
  23. I don't know, I'm not a Fitzhomer but I think that Gailey has it best right here.
