  1. I tallied every pass that was thrown in these sessions. I thought it would be interesting to see how many passes were 3 step drops - 5 step drops - 7 step drops - less than 3 steps - Play Action/Roll Outs - and Shotgun (If the pass was from the shotgun but was also play action I gave a tally for both). I'm definitely not an expert on what all of this could mean in terms of play calling and how it would correlate to a young QB vs maybe a veteran. I thought everyone could kind of chime in on their thoughts based on this information. My novice observation is clearly shotgun was the overwhelming formation. Manuel struggled IMO throwing off his back foot. Even in the limited drop backs he just doesn't put pressure on that back foot on the last step and doesn't come forward with a confident throw. In the shotgun this was even more obvious to me, he hopped a couple times and then shows lazy footwork and seems to flick the ball instead of coming off the back foot. What does this information mean? What if anything in terms of play calling for a young QB should have been done different by the old coaching staff? Bears Less than 3 - 0 3 step - 2 5 step - 3 7 step - 0 Roll out/Play action - 9 Shotgun - 22 Dolphins Less than 3 - 1 3 step - 0 5 step - 3 7 step - 0 Roll out/Play action - 8 Shotgun - 26 Chargers Less than 3 - 1 3 step - 1 5 step - 0 7 step - 0 Roll out/Play action - 7 Shotgun - 46 Texans Less than 3 - 1 3 step - 1 5 step - 2 7 step - 2 Roll out/Play action - 8 Shotgun - 42
  2. Oh ok, it's my opinion Rex was involved in giving his input and it's my opinion Whaley makes the final call. Good lord. Of course we aren't on the staff and don't know - and I think your point about him discussing Hill and Bryant show that in most cases unless as you stated the coach has FO responsibilities - he gives his opinions but the FO makes the final decision. I think that should be the case and probably is.
  3. My guess is that it won't take someone being impaired to not find this funny. It just wasn't.
  4. I'm certainly he had a proportionate amount of input as I'm sure Rex was present in most of the draft talk/analysis. Draft picks are and should be a team decision with the ultimate call being placed on Whaley. I'm also fairly certain Whaley and the scouts didn't have another player they wanted and Rex wanted Darby so they drafted Darby.
  5. Thanks to the Pegula's we get to have nice things now.
  6. I think Whaley is happy where they're at on the o-line - both with the players that are competing to start and the money they are having to allocate. I don't think we'll see much action.
  7. Beyond what appears to be a good head coach - the rest is kind of what he has had.
  8. I think if all but about 4 teams had Rodgers they'd be in the hunt for a super bowl every year. The 4 that wouldn't need Rodgers already have a chance every year.
  9. Go back and read and you'll see the big deal wasn't that he quoted the bible albeit not verbatim - but the irony. Please pay attention. How do you know there's been thousands of years? I guess someone told you that - see the irony in that? Or do you need someone to come to your rescue?
  10. Exactly. Most people I run into know we traded for McCoy, signed Incognito, and have a good defense. Then they ask, who will be the QB?
  11. I was just trying to add a little levity - obviously it didn't come across that way so I apologize. So you won't admit you quoted the bible and didn't realize it?
  12. You can't "compression" that treat others as you want to be treated is from the Bible? Yikes. You don't even know what you're quoting.
  13. Nice try. Replying to Metz post isn't treatment. I see what you're getting at though. The contradiction is you want to quote from the Bible but don't believe it should be followed. You'd do well to act how you hope other people should. Bless ur heart.
  14. Oh give me a break. Why don't you preach to the people that say "I hope he does well" - does that mean they really hope he does well so that gay rights are expanded?
  15. He's purposely trying to lose and just singing players like McCoy, Hughes and Clay so we keep buying tickets.
  16. Killing another human being makes it difficult to feel sorry for anyone - but there's another side of me that is imagining the life he's going to live in prison and it's terrible to think about.
  17. Well I'm not posting anything IN that thread.
  18. If we were on Hard Knocks that would have been great to watch.
  19. I think Brown got the shaft last year - with not even being part of the active roster most of the year. He had a chance to win the fanbase over and he was almost there - until that fumble. This year it's just an unfortunate situation that they don't feel comfortable giving him a role. Sometimes it's those moments in life that either go your way or they don't and that fumble I believe was his moment.
  20. Perfectly said. Welcome to the Doug Whaley show. We are so fortunate to have him that it's a shame some of us don't see that yet. It's so clear that he learned a ton while being in Pittsburgh. Remember how they would just all the sudden have another LB become great the moment they moved on from one? I think we're going to start seeing the full value of having Whaley as his moves mature.
