Bills hire Doug Marrone to be Head Coach

Or if they like him so much as the "gushing" in this article, they may just sit pat and take him at #8. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000123802/article/doug-marrone-can-solve-buffalo-bills-ryan-fitzpatrick-problem -
He also was responsible for the loss to the Titans and possibly

Can that group beat Brady ? -
How much talent do the Bills actually have?
ganesh replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
List of current Bills players who can start on any of the other 31 NFL teams. 1. C.J. Spiller. 2. Stevie Johnson 3. Scott Chandler 4. Levitre 5. Wood 6. Cordy Glenn That is 6 out of 11 starters. On Defense: 1. Mario Williams 2. Kyle Williams 3, Dareus Marcel 4. Gilmore 5. Byrd Special Teams: 1. Ryan Lindell 2. McKelvin That is 13 players out of 25 positions. We are about 50% talented roster in the NFL. The good teams are trending probably towards 75-80% and that is the difference. We sorely lack a starting QB, RT, WR on offense and the entire LB crew and a 2nd CB and a Strong Saftey to be successful. Another issue is that our role players have not come through. That is a big difference with the successful teams. -
Don't get me wrong. I am not saying that we should not draft these QBs coming out of college. I am just looking at alternate choices if we were not able to get the desired QB in this weak draft. I believe Tannehill, Weeden, Osweiler all were perceived as the "not sure" QBs prior to the draft, but still were taken by QB needy teams.

The roster bonus is 3M for being on the team on March 1st and not 10M. His total salary for the season would be 11M including that 3M

Everyone knew that Mallet is not going to come in and upseat Tom Brady. He was going to be their insurance policy in case Brady got injured (and he did not since the arrival of Mallet). Without real game time experience, you don't really know what you are going to get other than knowing that he is a strong arm QB that made all the throws in college. Since he was drafted in the 3rd round, I am sure Belichek is not going to give him away for anything less than a 3rd rounder. A 2nd rounder could be a possibility if Belichek creates a demand for him by dangling him in the trade block. The key is that in a Weak draft class, Mallet may be worth giving a 2nd or 3rd rounder rather than investing that on a Mike Glennon or other QBs that don't appear to have many weakness in their game.

Bills hire Mike Pettine of the Jets as DC???
ganesh replied to LiterateStylish's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Flacco is not leaving Baltimore. If the Bills cannot get a franchise QB in FA or Draft, why do you think the Ravens will let him go and look for one in a non-existent vacuum. -
Sitting and Rotting on the Patriots Bench behind the Veteran Brady!! May be the Bills can give him a shot to do something different. It can't hurt as he is probably better than the scrubs that we have here.
-
The Bledsoe and Mallet are two different situations. Mallett also will be a FA after the end of 2013 season. They could get something in return for him.
-
I think the Bills should give their 2nd or 3rd round pick to the Patriots and trade for Ryan Mallett. He is probably better prospect than any of the ones coming out in the draft. As for the discipline issue, it should not be a problem with Marrone as the HC.

Package Jackson and our first + third round picks
ganesh replied to mellaman101's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can see Andy Reid go after Matt Flynn and trade for him from the Seahawks. Flynn is very familiar with the WCOr and Reid may believe that he can win with him. Flynn's contract is also much lower than what Alex Smtih would demand. What would Seattle ask. May be a 3rd rounder gets it done. Flynn can make all the throws. QB Needy teams Kansas City - Cassel will be gone Jacksonville - Gabbert is a joke, though not sure if they are going to spend the 2nd pick on another unknown over-hyped QB Arizona - Definite need. Kolb is not the answer. Cleveland - Is Weldon the answer Buffalo - Fitzpatrick is definitely not the solution Jets - Who do they go with ? Sanchez Other semi-needy teams: 1. Tennessee Locker regressed this season. Can he salvage his career 2. Philadelphia - Is Foley the answer ? or do they go back to Vick Now, potential QBs that could be available to be starters on teams 1. Alex Smith 2. Michael Vick 3. Flynn 4. Matt Cassell 5. Ryan Fitzpatrick 6. Kevin Kolb -
Bills hire Doug Marrone to be Head Coach

It is the other 50% of the folks on the board. To be fair, some wanted retreads (a safer bet) and some wanted the Bills to try something different besides retreads. The Bills went with the 2nd option. There is nothing wrong with the first camp bitching about the selection. If the Bills had hired a retread like Wisenhunt, the other 50% would have been disappointed and blamed the Bills for taking an undue risk. At the end of the day, if Marrone works out, everyone will be happy for the Bills as we are all Bills fans at the end. -
Marrone hire may possibly help Levitre re-signing
ganesh replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Glenn is the starting LT on this team. Hairston sucks as a starter. The Bills need to start the season on a positive note by signing Levitre. Pure and Simple. -
Interesting tidbits from LaCanfora re: search
ganesh replied to l< j's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There is lot of (mis)information around the candidate interviews. Russ mentioned at the PC that they met Marrone five (5) times during the process. None of the news media have been able to correlate these 5 meetings. -
List of issues: 1. No consistency at the position. 2. Had no touch on the long ball. Missed them most of the time. 3. Was scared throwing the long ball forcing the defense to stack up the line and stop the running game. 4. Threw interceptions when game was on the line. 5. Never looked like a leader in charge on the field (Always sitting on the bench with his head down). Did not get the attention or focus of his players who ended up dropping passes. 6. Became too predictable and opponents were easily guessing his plays.

Haslett for DC? Return of the Bermuda Triangle?
ganesh replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It could work especially if Carrington can play DE along with Dareus. Then Kyle Williams will be the Nose Tackle. The one concern will be Kyle WIlliams if he can block any bull rushing. The biggest issue would be depth on the DL. Either way, they would need to draft more for the front seven. At least this will put their 7 best players on the field. -
What about Bobby April for ST Coach
ganesh replied to Chris in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
De Haven sucks and the game has passed by him. He had average and below average ST. -
And I hope he does not hire Jauron and Gailey for that position just because they have NFL coaching experience. Both played scared and not lose games. They do not fit the Marrone mentality.

Why not ? Why should the presser make any difference. The difference will be on the football field. -
The new coordinators - newcomers or ex-HCs who will bolt?

Is Alex Carrington part of that list. If not, he sshould be. He has earned the right to be part of that DL.
