  1. This is among many corners of the universe where logical arguments are dismissed as excuses and theres little room for critical thought and nuance.
  2. I'm wondering why no one has brought up the "garbage time" argument like we do to discount our own players. Considering the Giants won 5 games and were constantly airing it out to catch up, about 97% of ODB's production can be attributed to garbage time stats.
  3. By a QB who still plays football.
  4. Would you say that Watkins projects more as a Ty Law or Lawyer Milloy type player?
  5. Your sentiment is similar to May Day's and I think its valid. I have no issue with the opinion that Pegula, or El Pegual, or Paligula should get rid of Russ, Overdorf, Littman, Berchtold and all the other holdovers from the Ralph era to make a clean start. I do have an issue with the same tired arguments which seek to assign blame with little to nothing to substantiate such claims as can be seen above.
  6. He was the defacto owner prior to El Pegual purchasing the team. Every HC and GM ultimately answers to the owner. I cannot be anymore clear than that. Belichek answers to mac and cheese magnate Bob Kraft at the end of the day.
  7. Closed minded?? To what? I've been spoon feeding you whats wrong with your argument while clarifying my objections and you've demonstrated no understanding of the subject matter. The condition of closed minded in this instance is dependent upon you actually having something to consider. Change marketing and finance guy with owner. Like HC and GM answering to macaroni and cheese mogul.
  8. If you say so. Ignoring the obvious issues with that statement, then why should he be fired for having "significant influence" on personnel decisions for the last year? This is the best roster they've fielded in a decade. Do you even understand what you're arguing anymore?
  9. Using that analogy, you have a problem with every single front office in the league which ultimately answer to a man who made his bones in business before having final say on football matters.
  10. It was a stupid metaphor as Kirby demonstrated. How many marketing personnel or de-facto team owners have scouting history? How is that even relevant to his position? Demonstrate that he lacked in his due diligence. Just implying that his search was insufficient does not advance a point. Yes, he was involved in the Marrone hire but whether that reflects poorly upon him is a matter of much debate and as bandit already let you know, this wasn't just his call. He was in the war room but doing what? What was his influence? Back any of these things up and they cease to be unfounded speculation. Simply stating he was present and "involved" is not an argument. 5 pages later, you still cannot seem to grasp that. Building a case involves supporting your claims not just reiterating.
  11. I won't fault anyone for forming that perception but I can't ignore the abundance of chatter over the years over who actually called the shots while Brandon was GM. In absence of anything credible pointing to specific football decisions hes made, I don't put much weight on the easy connect the dots.
  12. That was a small part of his ever evolving point for those who are paying attention. Why is it unreasonable to ask someone who implied that Russ failed to do proper due diligence and based his decision on a Syracuse buddy network to back that up? Which other times has Russ blown the coaching hire? If you and fridge don't want to have your opinions questioned than why post them publicly?
  13. Badges Unqualified Leave no stone unturned Hired coaching Cuse coaching staff In the War Room etc You've advanced several disjointed arguments as to why Russ is to blame for our woes and these arguments have either been discredited or gone unsupported. I'm not interested in breaking this down for you any further since you've yet to even attempt to address any of the pointed questions I've asked. Instead you reply with some version of "OK, so he had no influence?? OK. I believe you", which is something I've never stated. Its clear that you have little understanding of what I write and little memory of your own involvement in this thread.
  14. He's said 9 different things and has yet to demonstrate lack of due diligence and its very much a subject of debate that it was the wrong hire. Lay that on Russ all day, but theres nothing but unfounded speculation and plausibility.
  15. The fact that he needs no source for all the speculation regarding Russ Brandon's role in bringing the Bills down from the inside suggests that any source provided which add to color to the last decade will be insufficient.
  16. This thread begs to differ. http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/174456-a-pictures-worth-1000-words/
  17. In your opinion Ralph wished Russ to execute poorly?
  18. Never said he didn't have influence. You're most certainly confused.
  19. Define major influence and demonstrate it in the context of why Russ is to blame for all our woes. Simple plausibility is a weak argument. To what degree does Overdorf have say? Does he and did he have the authority to offer Peters the farm? Until you can outline how much power they had and how the shaped certain decisions than the argument stands at "Fire Russ, Littman, and Overdorf because they've been here a long time and the team has sucked," which I'm fine with. Just don't pretend there's anymore to the argument than that.
  20. Got to one up the Russ bashers. Overdorf and Littman are next man up. Real fans know the problem is Berchtold though, just like real Beatles fans know the best song was that B-side, deep track, 'Number 11 Teen' featuring Yoko farting on a snare drum. The bootleg, 1979, BBC session. Not the studio version.
  21. So you're saying its his fault. Fire the assistant equipment manager?
  22. I know he was. What's your point?
  23. As long as we're extrapolating ridiculous conclusions which simply aren't present in the text, why not go for some Davinci Code level stuff? While you ponder that, please demonstrate that Russ and Whaley were negligent or hasty in considering the options.
  24. Every one these weekly Russ threads is exactly the same. We get it. You blame Russ because you do not understand what his role with the team has historically been, you don't understand what his role is now, you're skeptical about what role if any he will continue to play, but you're certain his influence is very strong and guides every poor decision. This opinion is barely defensible, but since it cannot be definitively discredited it must be right. See you next week.
