  1. I think we had too many starters on defense in week 1.
  2. I do know what he's talking about. He was ranting and raving about the equivalent of litter boxes in school bathrooms and drag shows for kids which he believes to be the major issues of our time. With all the actual issues facing the nation I cannot be bothered to care about every bit of rage bait he can scrounge up from the depths of the internet. And NC believes he scored a major victory that day in my dismissal of his Libs of Tik Tok smoking gun.
  3. You may recognize some names in this thread. You really haven't seen any of the cancel culture rants here in PPP over the years? I spend maybe single digit hours a year on this board and I've seen plenty of it. Hardly limited to this thread.
  4. I did not. But a bunch of guys reveling in today's canceling certainly have done so.
  5. I'm not mad at those doing the outing or those celebrating the outing. I pointed out what sure looks like a double standard and some of you are taking it rather personally. It is cancel culture. Definitionally. If you celebrate cancel culture today maybe think twice before ranting about how bad it is tomorrow. Seems like a reasonable ask to me. Or if you want play on both sides of the fence on this issue as its convenient, just own it like NC.
  6. You expect me to reply to this nonsense with what exactly? How much of my time and attention do believe your childish baiting and insults deserve?
  7. You just responded to my rebuttal. Do you smell toast?
  8. You have multiple times responded to my substantive posts over the past few days with some form of "thats a word salad" which is a total cop out. Beyond weak. You introduced a false choice in your previous post between some "semi controversial" hypothetical and public celebrations of death. I'm not taking the bait and letting you advance your own definitions of terms and degrees of controversy, as that is an obvious and underhanded way to debate. I attempted to have an adult conversation with you in good faith, and predictably my efforts were in vain.
  9. I don't know what "semi controversial" comments you are referring to or who deemed them only "semi controversial". Further, I don't know how this hypothetical of "semi controversial" opinions is even relevant. It is obvious that you are advancing a highly flexible and personally convenient definition of what cancel culture entails. Luckily, for us we don't need to debate the meaning of the term cancel culture as it has already been established.
  10. This is an impressive meltdown. I think you haven't even approached bottom yet. How much lower can you go, I wonder?
  11. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cancel_culture Definitionally, it is cancel culture. Social media outrage, citizens reporting people for their transgressions, calling for firings. The only difference between this example of cancel culture and thousands of others is that this time you're the one who is outraged rather than the one defending free speech.
  12. I do find it disturbing. I have no sympathy for anyone losing their job for celebrating a murder. Make no mistake, this is absolutely cancel culture.
  13. A quick primer on hate speech before you confuse yourself further: hating an individual because of that individual's opinions does not constitute any relevant definition of the term. https://www.ala.org/advocacy/intfreedom/hate
  14. Thats the spirit. F@#% principles. F@#$ intellectual honesty. Its your turn at the trough. Eat up.
  15. So sensitive. Why do you both feel so attacked by a harmless post about consistency and principled positions?
  16. A principled stand on the issue is the best one. Freedom of speech has never meant freedom from consequences, whether you're calling some dude on the subway an N-bomb or celebrating a gruesome murder. But in this age its hard to cry for someone who lacks the judgement not to post something so over the top on their own facebook page. Now public sector "canceling" for matters of freedom of speech is an entirely different matter. I just cannot stand watching the same people who condemn so called "cancel culture" as an existential threat to western society now celebrate it as it suits them.
  17. I am simply observing that once staunch critics of so called "cancel culture" are now celebrating the latest examples. My thoughts on yesterday's tragic murder have already been shared. I've been very consistent on the issue. Have you?
  18. I really hope that people have consistent views on whether or not individuals should be "canceled" for exercising their right of free speech, no matter their political affiliation.
  19. I guess satanic, pedo, baby eaters and evil communists bent on the destruction of the nation can be considered forms of "misguided", in a sense.
