They all have uncertain learning curves even with full camps and business as usual. Is Beane going to trade every pick in this draft for second and third contract players?
I do not think that long-term personnel decisions are made based on speculation regarding abbreviated training camps this year. At least I pray that isn't affecting Beane's draft strategy. May as well trade all our picks away and retain everyone who knows the playbook.
We played their third string QB the year Brady was suspended. Jimmy G was the starter and was 2-0. He goes down and Brisset still shuts out the Texans. Brissett broke his thumb in that game and was immediately IR'd in week 5 when Brady was eligible to return to the 3-1 Pats.
I fully expect NE to be competitive next year.
It shouldn't be but there are still some deplorables among us who are going to argue that it took 3 or more first rounders to select Sammy. Maybe this guy will be original and argue only 1 pick was used.
Big difference is that Diggs is already an established player, he cost 1 first rounder rather than 2, and we were likely to go WR in the first round and we hope whoever we may have taken in the first round is as good as Diggs one day.
I hope you're not implying the sensible and reasonable discussion in this thread is an echo chamber without the participation of the same 5 morons saying "this isn't even as bad as the flu!" or "this is just hype driven by the media. Nothing to see here".
We couldn't pull it off because we didnt have a busted up RB to offer. And we didnt have a busted up RB to offer after Beane foolishly let Gore retire.
Do we need to wait until it happens to prepare our public health systems? Pretty sure the plan here has been "well that kinda ***** doesn't happen in America".
And generally asserting that pushing authority down to the lowest units is best in all situations. Just like how all good organizations work. Lead from behind. Like our military.
