D'Qwell Jackson (LB) Released by Browns
QCity replied to thebandit27's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wouldn't get your hopes up. I just pray he doesn't sign with New England ughhh -
Uhhh, that tweet means he's getting better at a cheesy video game called Flappy Bird. And he's asking other people what their scores are. All the attention? Like one thread per year? I thought the guy fell off the face of the earth.

We should bring back Chris Kelsey.

who thinks we will go OT in the 1st round
QCity replied to Braedenstearns's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If I would have known that's the consensus I would have never posted in this terrible thread lol. it's not (talking RT not LT). For the same reasons discussed last year on why we didn't draft Warmack. And for the same reasons why 2 years ago we didn't draft DeCastro. If you missed those reasons, I'll rehash them closer to the draft date. There will be an OL thread each week like this up until the draft and this one already has run its course for me. -

No, most fans cannot properly analyze line play and incorrectly believe that an offensive line can be graded in a vacuum. Our line is a lot better than what this thread is making them out to be. -

Any members of the Buffalo media reading this thread? We need some news on Chris Hairston. He missed a year with an "undisclosed" leg injury, which sounds odd. Is this guy rehabbing with plans to be in camp this year? Is he done? -
Well if he bought a brand new house then there would be no repairs. But like GoBills! metioned above, the housing market in Buffalo doesn't really appreciate, and look at all the routine maintenance he gets to avoid. But back to my original point - he doesn't even know the area yet. What if a year later he hates the $400K property that he jumped into and wants to move down by the lake? Or maybe he realizes he needs more seclusion, and looks for some more land elsewhere. Or maybe (*gasp*) he's not playing for the Bills anymore? it could take up to a year to sell his property around here, and he's going to take a bath in realtor fees, not to mention he'll have to keep the thing heated and insured while he's trying to sell it. That would add up to far more than the ~$30K rent he's paying. I guess I expect most 1st round rookies to go nuts and buy a Bentley and cover themselves with diamond jewelry. It's refreshing to see the kid use some financial restraint.

His rent at the Villas is a little over $2K, which is right in line with a 30yr $400K mortgage at today's rates. EJ's game checks are $25K, as his 2013 salary is ~$400k. All his money was in his signing bonus ($4.8M) which he will be living off of for the rest of his life if he keeps wrecking his knees. Now he doesn't have to deal with any of the small problems and repairs that come with new home ownership - he can focus his full attention on football. Also, why buy a house in a new city when you aren't even familiar with the area yet? Makes sense to rent for a year or so, at least until you see all of the city and suburbs.

I look at it this way - they just fired their coach abruptly after one season. It was universally regarded as a terrible knee-jerk decision (rightfully so) by the fans, the media, the players, and pretty much anyone associated with pro football. It cast the organization in a bad light, and lead to this purging of the GM and President. I don't think there's any situation where they can repeat that move and fire Pettine after only one season. They could whiff on every single draft pick, go 0-16, and Pettine could take a dump on the 50yd line and he's still going to be their 2015 head coach IMO.
-
You got it. Dead money is the salary cap space allocated for a player who gets cut. So if we keep Kolb, he hits our cap space for $3.6M. If we cut him, it counts $500K against our cap.

Here's a different take "The biggest winner here is Pettine. The black cloud hanging over his young tenure as coach was a sense that he wouldn't wield any say over his own roster. Instead of dealing with layers of front-office men, Pettine will now work hand-in-hand with Farmer to rebuild a Browns team that hasn't won a playoff game since New Year's Day 1995."

F*&@ing Cleveland... -
Nobody in that thread, this thread, or in the media at any time has called RI a saint.

For having only limited information, there were a lot of posters in that thread who seemed so certain they knew what was going on within the first few days.

Hah I was going to say that, but didn't want to draw the wrath of EJ fans. Edit: One more https://vine.co/v/MaWBrmQz07K/ -

EJ knee surgery, Tim Graham questions, draft QB?
QCity replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You need to learn the art of quitting while you're ahead. You make some very good, logical points and just when I'm nodding in agreement with you - I get sideswiped by a completely retarded statement like Eli Manning starting at QB in 2021 (he will be 41 in 8 years, not 40). -
Houston comeback game.

If it was a popularity contest, Kiko would have won in a landslide.

Should Bills target Branden Albert in FA?
QCity replied to Solomon Grundy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, regardless, my point stands. The odds of us going after a LT in FA are almost 0%. Armchair GMs should target RTs.
