I love watching Lil Donte Whitner get exposed
QCity replied to Estelle Getty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
SF fans seem to be faster learners than us. The Donte Plan: 1) Try to make at least 1 big hit a season by recklessly launching yourself at the ball carrier (don't worry about wrapping him up). 2) Hope the hit was big enough to make Sportscenter and go viral on the internet. 3) Talk as brashly as possible. This makes people forget all the blown coverages, missed tackles, and penalties. And if you play on a successful team, you may even reap some accolades like a Pro Bowl nod! -

Mike Pettine speculation-interviewing w Cleveland

I agree, I don't see a situation where Henderson stays if Pettine leaves. It's been a long time since I was concerned about one of our coaches leaving. -
AFC Championship : Patriots at Broncos

NFC Championship : 49ers at Seahawks

That was a good, physical game. I could watch those 2 teams play each other every week. -
That was an insinuation that well-managed front offices do not draft non-skill players that high. My apologies, I assumed you grasped that. Feel free to post your favorite statistical outlier that you incorrectly believe invalidates that statement. Nate Solder to the Pats, perhaps?
-
No, I stated that it's easier to find a RT in FA than a skill player. You even quoted it!
-
Any team that doesn't want to be drafting 9th again next year. It's a lot easier to find a RT in FA than a skill player.
-
You sure don't.

I thought it was pretty obvious that it was a designed play. Terrible execution on the throw. Too bad their kicker missed the 2 FGs or that last drive may have been different.

Comprehensive Bills O line evaluation thread
QCity replied to OCinBuffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The OL is hardly the train-wreck that many posters are making it out to be. There is no desperation to find an OL in this year's draft or in FA. Yes, Colin Brown was a disaster. And yes, the line mailed it in for the Tampa Bay game, but truthfully the entire team didn't show up for that game. Wood is a top 5 center (too many penalties this year however), Glenn is probably in the 5-8 range and he's only getting better. IMO Urbik is underrated as a pass blocker, and I love the power run blocking game that he brings. I'm with Bill on Pears, I don't understand the hate. Pears will never make a Pro Bowl, but we could do far, far worse. There's at least 16 teams in this league that I wouldn't swap RT's with. He's a tall man with a high center of gravity, so you occasionally see him get beat when someone gets underneath him. Legursky is only passable, I'd like to see someone brought in from FA. The one factor I have yet to see anyone mention is the person playing under center, you know, the QB. We fielded a rookie, a 3rd stringer, and an UDFA with the combined experience of 1 NFL game. I don't think the average fan realizes how much the QB affects OL play. For 16 weeks we have been every defensive coordinator's wet dream. Thad, EJ, and Tuel do not exactly strike fear into opponents hearts. And it's not just 1 inexperienced QB - it's 3, which makes it all the more difficult to adapt to each QB's subtle nuances in the pocket. You know, nuances like EJ's "I Feel Phantom Pressure Let's Spin Clockwise In The Pocket For No Reason" and Thad's "F*ck It I'm Gonna Take Off And Try Running Between The Tackles" move. The 1992 Dallas Cowboys OL would've had difficulty pass blocking under these conditions. Want stats? Consider Colin Brown, rookie QBs, and all the 8-man fronts we faced and we're still 2nd in the league in rushing. I know what you're going to say next - "But QCity, we allowed 48 sacks and that ranks us as 28th in the league!!!" Honestly ask yourself how many sacks allowed this year were due to our QB's and the shaky play of Brown at the start of the year. Go ahead and estimate a number. I would say at least 12, and I think I am being very generous with that figure. With solid QB play you are probably looking at a year with around 32-36 sacks, which is top 10 in the league. Even adjusted sacks would vault us up from 28th to around 12-13. In summary - all the caterwauling about the OL is a little ridiculous. I highly doubt we will take an OL in the first 3 rounds, and if we pickup an OG in FA it probably won't be a big name. I don't know what's wrong with Hairston, but if he is able to comeback that would be another plus, as he was an excellent swing tackle and could even challenge Pears for the starting job. -
Would the Bills trade up to get Watkins?
QCity replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1) Never trade up, unless it's for a franchise QB. 2) Watkins has hired Eugene Parker as his agent 3) Mike Evans stock will tumble a bit when he runs a 4.65 at the combine. -
Bills to meet with Rogers Communications
QCity replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Still banging the drum for the Toronto series, huh? You might be the last one eventually. So tell me, do you still honestly believe the Toronto series benefits this team, or do you just enjoy the attention that comes with being a contrarian? Hey, no one ever said the "Ralph is Cheap" crowd was logical (or sane). -
Bills to meet with Rogers Communications
QCity replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If they give the money back it's really going to hurt the "Ralph is Cheap" narrative. -
Oh I agree and will guarantee he refused, but it had nothing to do with that phone call. There was no way in hell Fitz was going to tear up a $59M contract with $24M guaranteed. His agent probably has that thing framed on his wall. Why not keep that guaranteed money and make an extra $6.5M in Tennessee doing the same thing he would be doing here? The way Fitz worked the system you would think he was a Harvard economics major or something. Good for him, good guy, sub-par arm.
-
It really didn't matter what Fitz desired, he was under contract and for a hefty sum.

No worries. I have a theory that this board can't sustain any thread about Levitre without it blowing up. And to go slightly off topic again, for the record I like 90% of the personnel decisions Marrone has made this year.
-
I never said that, overly defensive much? I didn't think I would have to list every correct personnel decision he's made, especially in a thread titled "Levitre."
-
No one is saying that. Marrone decides which 22 players start on opening day. It's a bit unsettling for many that Marrone could make such a huge error in judgement on a player (Colin Brown) from his previous area of expertise.
