We just traded for a guy that was going to get cut. Smooth.

Kiko's departure opens the door for David Harris

1 sounds right to me. His lateral movement looked pretty slow last year, and I feel he got outplayed by Demario Davis for many of the games. However, he would be a great bridge to steward the new defense. Seems like a lock to sign here, him and Rex are joined at the hip. -
Well it's ~$10M less that we have to spend.

Bills to trade Kiko Alonso for LeSean McCoy
QCity replied to CNY315's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd have to agree. The public opinion will be overwhelmingly in our favor because it's a lobsided fantasy football trade, but when you factor in longevity it's probably a lot closer than most think. That's assuming both stay healthy. -

Shady is certainly not a power back. RB's like him drop off the planet verrrryyyy fast once they lose a step. With 6 years already on him, we probably just traded 2-3 years of McCoy for a career out of Kiko. Will be really interesting to see where this ends up 3 years down the line. Of course, it's always amusing to see how fast our fanbase can turn on one of it's idolized players. -

If you want to pretend that a 2017 2nd is equal to a 2015 2nd, then yeah. Be wary of Johnson. He looks terrible this year however he put up some pretty good numbers last year. Based on his interviews, it seems he would love nothing more than to screw up our tank. What do you guys honestly expect him to say? -
Amen. What a terrible knee-jerk thread.

No real surprises today. GMTM probably could have gotten a bit more for Stewart if he traded him earlier, but that's probably being over-critical for a player that could be back on the team next year. Our goalie situation is....interesting. We're now in sub-.900 save % territory. Edmonton seems to have conceded that they have no chance to hang with us. -

Thank You Refs for that 5 on 3. Yeeeeeesh. -
His upside is higher than any FA on the market. None of this year's FA's are capable of putting up numbers like his 2013 stint. However, every FA QB is capable of putting up numbers like his 2014 season. Don't put too much credence into the celebration from the fanbase, I'd wager half of them have never seen McCown take a snap -- they've formed their opinion of him by simply Googling his stats. He drew serious interest from multiple teams, and while our front office won't be crying in their pillow, they certainly aren't celebrating.

He doesn't have a mind control machine to manipulate what McCown does.

Yeah there could be something to that. -
You're missing the point I was making. I'm certainly not advocating that we keep 1 QB on the roster. You bring in 3 QBs that have a legitimate shot at winning the starting job. The 2 that don't win are your backups. You don't audition for backups when you don't have a starter in place. If the coaches feel that EJ has no chance of winning the starting job, or he doesn't fit into their system, there would be a case for moving him. It wouldn't make financial sense of course.
-
Yeah, it's not his fault McCown chose the Browns over us (which is odd).

Where did this come from?

I know stats can be deceptive, I only used the blocked shots stat to reinforce my point -- which is that this team has been playing with determination since the trade. Throw all the stats out the window and watch the actual games. This isn't the listless team we saw in January. -

Haha wow that's pretty blatant. -
If you're blinded by faith there's a lot you won't see.
-
He'll never be a franchise QB.
-
I think a few people around here invested too much in EJ's stock. Would it be considered insider trading if I shorted him right now?
-
It certainly doesn't make financial sense, but if the coaching staff feels that there is little chance of EJ winning the starting job in camp, then there is little reason to keep him (and based on last year's camp, EJ doesn't have a chance in hell). We aren't auditioning for the backup position. The ironic thing is that if EJ was picked in the 3rd round, this wouldn't even be an issue. But because he was overdrafted, fans have deluded themselves into thinking there's a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow -- we just have to be patient. "It's Marrone's fault," "It's Hackett's fault," "You can't judge a QB after 14 games," are all prime examples of the wishful thinking that's spouted ad nauseam. I would be surprised if he is cut, but I would understand.

Miller's out 4-6. Neuvirth didn't really play that well and we were without Ennis and Girgs. I'll say it again, if you've been watching these games (and I'll completely forgive you if you haven't) there has been a noticeable jump in determination since the trade. It's almost as if the players are in F.U. mode and are finally sick of the tank talk -- determined not to finish last. Blocked shots: Vancouver 3, Buffalo 17. Nolan has this team fired up.
